  1. This. Would never buy pre-built. Have always built my own computers after researching the components. Zero issues now for the past 20+ years.
  2. What an oddly shaped aircraft! I am intrigued by the engine placement tbh. Looks sweet!
  3. I would say it is a no-brainer at this point. And especially since the DC-6 (logged about 50h in that gorgeous piece of kit as of writing this ) but even the WT CJ4, The A320 and to a certain extent the CRJ (even though it has been resting in the hangar for some time now). Resistance is futile (said, of course, with the lovely 'Borg' voice). .
  4. You are probably right about Denmarks free kick (however the goal was beautiful! Almost fell out of my chair when he scored). Yeah, we are still happy about that "1994 miracle"
  5. Congrats! Would have preferred Denmark tbh. Not to mention that really questionable penalty (on overtime in a quarter final - one would think that more physical play would be ok then). However England was the better team overall that is for sure so the win was deserved in the end. Ah, well.. Sweden got their behinds handed to them anyways. As per usual.
  6. Yeah, I've landed at insignificant small airports where the default have been payware-quality. Some of them are really, really good. Definitely one of the things that makes MSFS so darned enjoyable.
  7. For me it's been the other way around. Since the last patch (of the DC-6), performance has been absolutely stellar. Done about 8hrs over two flights in the DC-6 and performance has never been better. As a matter of fact. What I've been doing during those long cruise flights is editing photos in Capture One Pro at the same time (RAW files from a 45 mpix camera). Didn't even seem to affect performance (that might be down to the 3900x though).. Performance has been way above my expectations. Super happy as getting the same visuals and performance from the competing platforms would be utterly impossible.
  8. Just did a flight after the patch and I think the FPS problem might have gone away. Either that or the flight was a lucky one.
  9. I love the "unplugged" feeling of the aircraft. I love monitoring engine performance and not just engaging the A/P and then go to make a cup of coffee and return when it pauses at T/D. I like that I don't feel like I have unlimited power. Right now I am at 16.5K feet and in some rather rough weather. I am slowly climbing through it by the skin of my teeth more or less. Really hope I'll be able to climb above the clouds! I am quite heave loaded and will probably level out at 19k. The attention to detail. The immersion that comes with that. It as absolutely wonderful.
  10. Really promising results with those increases in performance! Wasn't it like almost 50% gain? Performance for me is quite good already, and getting double digit percent improvements in addition to that is kind of mind blowing.
  11. Got an evening to do some flights as the wife and kids are away for a couple of days. [insert Braveheart FREEDOM cry here] Don't know if I mentioned it before, but there seems to be a known issue concerning "auto-lean" that's being investigated as per the PMDG forums. I think that this could be what I am experiencing. Going from auto-lean to full-rich (if that's the name. Several beers later I am kind of unsure about that). seems to up the fps significantly.
  12. Oh, so last night I could reproduce the issue I mentioned in another thread (can't remember which one) a couple of days ago. If you haven't seen that comment I was mentioning a situation where I suffered FPS in the low teens while on approach to an airport in the middle of nowhere. But upon closing in on the runway (and coming in slightly too hot) i pulled the throttles back to idle and noticed that I got back all my frames the second I did. Kind of thought it might have been just a thing at that time and nothing more, however last night I could reproduce it. I was on a rather long approach into another airport (in the middle of nowhere). Noticed stuttering getting worse and worse. So I did the following: 1. Put throttle to idle with the result that all my glorious frames returned at once. 2. Upon bleeding speed closer and closer to catastrophe I set them back at approx 28" 2400RPM and guess what? heavy stutters instantly. Then I proceeded to indulge in a little game of "back and forth" with the throttles and sure enough; no throttles = great FPS and with throttles = low teens. Someone mentioned something similar to this while using advanced engine fails (which I do). Have you guys experienced this? Would you like to try this to see if it happens to you as well? I was conducting a short ferry hop between ESSF and ESFQ.
  13. Whoa. That is way too low for your rig imho. I’m running most on Ultra on my ryzen 3900x with a 2080Ti at 3440x1440 and have good perf most of the time.
  14. Only a couple of liveries installed here. Noticed that it took AGES to load in the flight set up menu the first time. After this first hiccup there were no further issues.
  15. Hmm... No problems with updating but I just had an odd experience. Not at all sure that the DC-6 is a factor in this, but I've never seen this before. Here's the situation. I was flying from Frankfurt to a small(ish) Polish airport. Weather at Frankfurt was atrocious with overcast and heavy rain. Performance was despite this good. Going northwest about 300NM and closing in on my destination performance started to drop (in contrast to Frankfurt this really was in the middle of nowhere). I didn't have an FPS meter running but I would guess low teens. Here then comes the oddity: Being just feet from the tarmac I pulled the throttles down to idle and started my flare. The second I idled my throttles the FPS went up to buttery smooth levels again. Half a second later I touched down and performance was good until I shut down the sim. Have any of you had anything like this happen to you?
  16. Man, I love this aircraft! The AFE is a gift from the heavens. Two short hops under my belt now and everything went fine. Looking at the tutorials now and getting more and more impressed by this aircraft. Love details such as engine harmonics at certain RPM intervals and that this actually will damage them. Or oil pressure that varies with temperature. What a gem this is!
  17. Just got it. Loaded it up in the sim and was almost immediately overwhelmed by it.. Man, when am I going to have the time to learn this..
  18. Well, no. I am not easily offended and in no way obliged to prove him wrong. That is an absurd assertion. I am simply calling a troll a troll.
  19. Attributing low intelligence to those not on your team definitely falls in this category, don’t you think?
  20. Exactly. Would also like to know how forum moderators keep accepting blatantly obvious trolls such as this individual...? One would think that attributing low intelligence to everyone not in his cult of choice would render you time in the sin-bin but alas.
  21. Well, I am running an AMD 3900X with 32gb memory @ 3600mhz and an 2080Ti at 3440 x 1440 and for the most part performance is really good (generally quite high settings). Don't know how the 2080Ti stacks against the 6800xt though... EDIT: And the sim is sitting on its own NVME disk.
  22. Yeah, I'd bet you'd get that nice feeling in the gut when being launched to 60 in two seconds flat! The Plaid+ is way more than I'd ever want to pay for a car though. Guess I'll have to settle with the abysmally slow 3 seconds of the Model 3 P.. 😉 Well, having had my Kona for about a year I highly doubt I'll ever have a petrol car again (I have, however, always wanted an air cooled 911) and can wholeheartedly recommend it.
