  1. I managed to get my overclock stable without AVX offset, but I remember that once I set an offset the cpu clock was reduced accordingly while running MSFS - so i assume MSFS uses some AVX. However I prefer to have a solid all-core-one-clock setup, as most of the more demanding applications use AVX, like video and photo editing programs, and I see no point in having a theoretically higher CPU clock only to have it reduced when it is needed most. But it depends a bit on your day-to-day usage I guess.
  2. XBox App did the trick! It's getting beyond ridiculous!
  3. Sorry, no idea, as every BIOS is different and my overclock experience on my Gigabyte Aorus Master is more than one year old (never touch a running system...). However, your VCore values seem reasonable. My i7 9900k is running MSFS at 75° give or take, and I only looked because of your post. Otherwise I'm satisfied that the system is running stable and I have no CTD's whatsoever. 86° is a tad hot, but it is far from damaging your CPU - if it gets too hot, you will notice as the cores will clock down automatically to prevent damage. So maybe you should let the temps be temps an enjoy an otherwise stable system (provided it is)? Yeah, but neither the aircraft engines nor your CPU know 😉
  4. Just an idea, as I don't know about MSI BIOS or settings: Have you checked your actual VCore while running MSFS? As far as I remember from overclocking my system I found adaptive mode a bit obscure, as you would enter a factor that is not the voltage the cpu will draw under load. You would have to check the actual voltage under load and adjust the factor accordingly.
  5. Btw.: I posted a question for the upcoming developers Q&A. Votes may help in raising attention.
  6. Affirm! I still see a lot of color banding in the sky and in clouds as well as purple and sometimes greenish fringes. Definitely wasn't present pre-SU5! I also notice some pink tint at the horizon nearly all the time - all in all the sky has become less natural (for me, that is!).
  7. Yep. Although I can produce good looking screenshots like those shown in this thread too my overall impression is that after SU5 I now more frequently think the skies I'm seeing could be achieved in P3D with EA as well (and I see an example in this thread already). I didn't have that impression from launch until SU5. I think some changes to the overall lighting play a roll as well as adaptations made for HDR users. Oh - and there's still some greenish/purple color banding on my SDR screen, although HF2 made that a bit less annoying. Please note those are MY impressions. I acknowledge that others have different expectations and perceptions.
  8. FWIW: Fenix (Aamir) has just confirmed on their discord, that they "do indeed have a license with ProSim to utilise and modify elements of their simulation software".
  9. Yeah, being disappointed by SU5 myself (haven't flown since, only done the occasional tweaking, obviously to no avail) I can feel with them. I agree that parts of the uproar by the "community" probably was a disservice to some extent. In the end, this "community" consists of individuals with their own expectations and perceptions. The one side fears to have lost what they appreciated, the other fears the loss of what they think they have gained. So it is no wonder the whole discussion gets emotional to the point that it isn't a discussion any more, only insistence. I have given up at some point because it mostly was not about discussing or arguing but about being right. And all that has gotten worse by the day, without any clear statement. The "acknowledgement" about triaging reported issues obviously was too late (day 6) and not able to reign in the fear that what we were seeing could be the new standard. Yes, I'm guilty of that thought - because what do I know what's going on at MS and its subsidiaries. Maybe something like "Yes, we made changes that were meant as an improvement and may have an impact on what you are expieriencing. Rest assured that we stand by our word not to downgrade anything and give us a few days to asses your valued feedback" one day after the storm broke lose (that would have been day 2 at the latest) would have calmed the waters a bit more. And let's not forget, that there were Beta testers, still bound by their NDA. I get a feeling from the few that posted that there seems to be some frustration too. I can only assume that some of the issues (if not most) must have been reported, if they have not been last-day changes. So it's not only "folks" that need to think about their approach - although they sure should. There were lessons to learn for all. Let's hope for Friday/Monday.
  10. I have often seen screenshots from MSFS where I had to take a second look if they were indeed screenshots or irl pictures. That's what made me a bliever from day1. With all the pictures surfacing now to prove everything's fine I only need a short glance to realize it's from a game. That goes for your three pictures as well, and I viewed them in full resolution.
  11. Still don't want to, but my MSFS operations are pretty much on halt until the graphic issues I see (note that it's me, so no point in arguing, 'cause I know what I saw until July 26 and what I see now) are hopefully fixed. So maybe a wise decision not to take the plunge until we are clear what is bug and what is perception.
  12. Can't speak for others, but I can distinguish between bug and feature.
  13. Probably the massive color banding, even on ultra (noticeable are especially the purples in the upper right section of the image). And what's going on with the colors at ground level?
  14. First and foremost I think we have to differ: if CTD's are concerned, maybe it's ASOBO's part, but everything regarding visual downgrades - provided they are intentional for XBox purposes - then it would actually be Microsoft who is responsible. ASOBO will have to do the work whatsoever.
  15. I appreciate your story, and I don't know your aviation background. Every individual is different, and there's no right or wrong, when it comes to perception. Here's another story: Mathijs Kok from Aerosoft once told that the sound for their CRJ (I believe it was the CRJ, sorry if it was the Airbus or another product of theirs - I only remember the gist of the story) - although recorded in the original plane - was found unrealistic by the majority of their customers and was only appreciated once it was altered far from the one you hear in the actual aircaft towards the sound that was expected by the majority. That being said - me, having acquired my PPL license after several years of simming since FS4 days and thus knowing how true-to-life a sim can look, I would always prefer the pre-SU5 MSFS!
  16. I admit to sometimes being that guy, but in most cases the urge to cry out settled within a few hours. But not this time, not with those colors! Here's an overexposed purple hell (unaltered screenshot, only converted to jpeg) that was a gorgeous approach into ENCN before.
  17. ...apart from the banding and purple hue around the cloud edges and the overall greenish/yellow tint of the images.
  18. This is Ultra on my SDR Monitor - Watercolor clouds (especially in the middle right section of the screenshot)! I hope this was not intended and will be changed to SU4 standards.
  19. All went well until this hotfix - now I had my first CTD's ever, according to eventviewer Flightsimulator.exe error with code 0xc0000005. Definitely not a good sign....
  20. With my SDR Monitor and a GREAT MSFS before SU5 here's my fair assessment: I didn't want cartoon clouds, and I don't like it one bit! And that's despite the sim running smoother. There you have it. Here's what I mean:
  21. Usually the download speed fluctuates quite a bit depending on the filesize - the bigger, the better. But yes, expierience shows that the servers will get hammered.
  22. 40,29 GB for my STANDARD edition - what? That's gonna be a loooong evening. Let's put some beers in the fridge....
  23. I think here's a developer who clearly made his way to become one of the few truly great artists in scenery development, comparing EGPH with his first scenery I know of: Tivat LYTV. It was nice, but it didn't "feel" like a real airport. I've been to EGPH (quite some time ago), and the "feeling" of leaving the entrance hall and finding the bus stops as I remember them, is making this airport even more immersive than the greatly modeled, textured and lit airside. The amount of detail, clutter, parked cars, lamps - everything creates an atmosphere of a living and breathing airport. And that, I believe, is what sets great developers apart from most of their competitors. I purchased it as soon as I got aware of the release, but thanks MrFilbert for spreading the word in your great - as ever - review.
