GEX textures looked worse in Midwest than default fsx and missing water towers and barns hurt the feel and I uninstalled it. GEX 2.0 won't make difference as autogen setup may optimize performance but lose barns, churches, water towers. Those missing do make a difference flying in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Manitoba. It's subjective opinion but GEX 2 looks no different than one.

Just GA fly in fsx, and modify rural airfields in Iowa and Minnesota to give it more rural feel. Use Instant Object Studio and Instant Scenery create generic hangers and farm silos and put in cornfields too. In wintertime do the same for Arizona south of Phoenix. Fly short GA flights and payware will never happen in Blue Earth Minnesota or Casa Grande Arizona. Every person dinning preferences like making pizza lol.

Crowd sourcing airports better on the wallet as most of cant buy $40 dollar airfields all the time. DIY of Xplane users is what keeping me with Xplane. Easier to move runways and update it in xplane 10, with fsx it actually more legwork.

XP11 comes out I am looking forward to it. I fly in the last year more in XPX than in FSX. Done lots of OSM work in last year will gradually enhance Xplane. I am vfr and scenery guy as you have freedom in vfr. PMDG style flying never interest me anyways. XPX overlooked by FSX/P3D crowd not shocked at all.

Agree, be legal issues not really feature worth pursuing damage modeling because they are not essential to flying aircraft in normal conditions. It's gonna take years to replace fsx as people's expectations are different in 2015 than in 2005. New approach is needed as the needs of IFR flyer is very different than treetop orbx vfr flyer. Realty is we are looking long wait for fsx replacement and P3d and Xplane will be future go too for a longtime.

Spent like $100 on planes and $40 on apps for X-plane. In Urban areas flying in fsx and xpx about the same frame rate, but once outside major cities get 2x more frame rates in xpx than fsx. Overtime save money using X-plane it's more mod friendly than fsx ever was. I build items things in Xplane I won't bother in fsx as it all about the payware $$$ candy. Like fsx overall but I feel more about making money with add ons than moving hobbies.

FSX is old program it's 9 years old it slave driver on the CPU. 4.0 ghz amd CPU will help, but be better off with intel. Less than 10 fps not flying it.

FS 4.0 started out playing with it back in early 90s in middle school what a experience, got fs98 for Xmas back in 97 and everything now so real almost realistic. I got more into fsx once I got joystick and found sure easier to fly by joystick than keyboard. .

1080p one monitor 760gtx is fine that what I use on it, but 970 gtx at 330 may be better buy now as don't need to upgrade psu if it above 500 watts.

Nice, gta V looks like got virtual cockpits this will be good long term for another option for simmers. Look at gta V online has the feel of Los Angeles actually down pretty good looks like 4 airfields this is taste of what the future holds for treetop flyers. Landing in water is dangerous on the ocean sharks do get hungry. $265 million to build the game wow, that something impressive and get $800 million in revenue that good recoup on investment so far I am buy gta V when it comes out on pc as, I know will see plane mods and added airfields.

all about convenience with steam, the difference between the is not the reason to buy it. Just like having games on steam long term as you do upgrade desktops every couple years.

G3258 and oc on z97 mobo is good way to go. Even at stock clock it beats the fx 8350 at single threaded applications. Tempted by g3258 as a play thing as it price for performance beast. AMD sells cores but does not matter still for most games and only recently games are using 4 cores.

2gb for one monitor is fine and it does the job in fsx just turn DSR on cleans up jagged edges well. Only running 3 monitors is more powerful card needed. P3d different story and Xplane it uses the gpu more.

Get 8gb and get 970 or budget $$$ limited get 760 gtx. 270x would be great with other games just not fsx because of cloud issue and its AA not optimized for FSX.

FSX will be dominant for a longtime, and XPX and P3D may gain users, but those sims will never surpass fsx user base.

FSX runs fine just accept cant get what you want from it at all times. PMDG who cares not me. Not all simmers fly at 35,000ft nor care too. I5 3570k at stock with 760gtx I fly Carenado birds and A2a on my days off.

GTA probably make good flight sim based on quality than quantity. I do not think Xplane will ever surpass fsx and it's time for new approach. FSX sells 10 times more on steam than Xplane. I like Xplane but I feel it's development left for dead. Rockstar in time will make vitural world to mimic enough space to have 300 ga fields and 10 class b airports. It's time for new approach the old ways are not working it will take dovetail 5 years or more to build new flight sim.
