  1. Ok, this is an old post. I did the same with FSX-SE on a new rig on Windows 11. In Windows 10 the memory management of FSX-SE was by far better. So I blame Windows 11. I don´t know why, but I can see it clearly in VAS Monitor! Steam does not start FSX-SE in a Compability mode 8 or 7. Windows 11 Home 25H2 doesn´t even have a compability mode for Windows 10. I think they need to update Windows 11 for FSX-SE in order to run it properly. ..... I don´t see that coming.... Now you are telling me the same happens with FSX Gold. That would have been my next step (got it already on the table out of the cupboard). Did you or anybody else try the compability option too?
  2. Hi Darran, I use AI Flight Planner https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/resources/ai-flight-planner.279/ I think you can use the flightplan bgl file, but you need to link the correct ai aircraft to your flightplan. For example you can find nice models and liveries here: https://fsxaibureau.com/ There is a nice manual for the AI Flight Planner, takes a little bit of time. Once you are in it, you can´t stop anymore
  3. Hello all, Well, it seems FSX-SE doesn´t like to run like in previous times under WIN10. I built a new AMD system (not high end, but more than enough for FSX) and the problem is VAS! We all know or knew this problem. I got it under control using DX10 with SteveFixer in Windows 10. Now, in Windows 11 25H2, nogo. I have a home airport which I really know very well with all settings and weather, GSX2 with or without traffic etc. etc. Of course it was exciting using VAS Monitor, but it was controlable. The same setup in Windows 11, freshly installed, VAS is a killer. That is very disappointing. Al efforts did not succeed. Windows 11, I love it. Be careful
  4. Hi, most important is the CPU! That´s why I have an Intel 4790k http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz
  5. Hey tooting, I´m also interested! Would be nice to get a try. Thanks Peter
  6. Hello, when the server needs maintenance, like now, is there a backup opportunity to download the guide? Thank you Peter
  7. @Heronjr I have been testing for more then a year, maybe longer on FSX-MS Gold. Switched to DX10 etc. blabla. I can´t really say what exactly made the difference, because I changed everthing, starting with the hardware. Today my FSX run for 9 hours, flying over the Atlantik! I did everthing which was/is not allowed. Turning 100x in external, 2D, 3D cockpit, all wingviews many many times over and over. Fly-bys, 9 hours! SMOOTH! Aircraft: Qualitywings 757-200 (sry, I don´t use PMDG) Departure: Mega EDDF with probably 12-15 hot looking moving Ai around and much more on parking position. I need to adjust the schedule/speeds of those, because SuperTrafficBoard cancels many of them after 9 hours. ASN Weather with REX4 and SoftClouds (ASN on a client). The weather wasn´t really good for the trip today. Many clouds, head- and crosswind 50-100 knots. On top of all I tested the ASN settings to see what´s best. That made my sim always crash, but not today. PFE ATC (client). You can fly the NATS! ORBX FTX Global Base, Global Vector, Global openLC Europe, FS Global 2010 FTX Compatible installed and all active in the libary. TextureMaxLoad=2048 AffinityMask=7 lol GSX, AES all active. Destination: FSDT JFK Scenery V2, landed, taxi to gate with follow me smoothly. And again some nice Ai. Other add-on sceneries deactivated. FSX rules if you find the setting for your system. Ah, maybe you should not max out Autogendensity. That´s the only important one I have lowered for one step. It´s on the edge but it works. A 3.4 GHz CPU is too slow... FSX demands POWER! I love it (who needs Steam) Don´t give up.
  8. Agree! You system is by far too weak. Get a Desktop-PC with the fastest CPU etc. You will never make it with ASN and AS A319. Never.
  9. I use PROATC/X. I used to fly on IVAO, but since I want to fly the SID/STARS and Transitions according to my weather situation in ASN, for me it´s better to use ProATC. If you make a good flightplan, it will work and you have fun. Yesterday I had a flawless flight with the correct SID, later STAR plus Transition. So nothing to complain about. Everything went fine. It will recognize other aircrafts in any situation and you can count on instructions in these situations. If an aircraft is on final, you will be told to wait on holding point. I didn´t test flying a holding, but it does that also. We can expect more of this nice program, i think. It´s worth the money. But watch the setup, like any other fine program.
  10. Oops, I´m sorry. Wrong picture... This one should work for most of us:
  11. I never posted images before. Here are my settings in DX10. There are more, I do know that. It is just to give you an idea and the picture with the iFly is not for presentation how nice everthing is, but not bad. Fixer setting is now 8xCSAA. Free VAS is about 1350 MB. I need a longer flight to see how it behaves. I saw it freeing space also. On apron it was about 1450 at AS Mega EHAM.
  12. There is a tool called VAS Monitor, latest version is 1.1. It runs on the client via fsuipc. This tool monitors VAS usage and warns if you have a problem. I tested it and it works. If you are getting warned, go down with your settings! I said it before, DX10 is recommended.
  13. 64 bit version would have been done. At least it still would be in the pipe now. I don´t see that coming too. But sometimes things change faster than you can figure. Later it might be P3D, I don´t know. Nobody knows it this stage. Steam? I heard interesting things about the new edition. Waiting a longer period, for me could that be years, will make my decision. I think three years ago I finally switched over to FSX. It took a while staying, because I turned back in between. They just released FSX-SE, for me, it is much too early to be convinced. Let them become compatible and then we will see. Maybe some developers just don´t have the time to support a platform they never asked for? Next time a developer releases a sim, it would be a good idea to let the sim check itself for safe functionality before running, to avoid overloading or anything else that comes up. Really good idea?? I would say no.
  14. Gerry, nothing is broken here. Every developer has the right to make his product as attractive as possible for good reasons. Otherwise nobody would buy/donate it. It´s up to us to make the decision if it fits to the sim or not. And from the very begining it has always been a matter of hardware. If you make the right decision, nothing is "broken". We, the user, we must find out what´s best to run. That´s all. I am very grateful there are some really good add-on developers (I do appreciate that very much) and be honest , the sim is becoming better and better. Don´t you think so?!?
  15. absolutely fantastic. No Problem! Very easy in any way. And there is a nice small (because it is easy) manual.
  16. That´s way it makes sense to control Ai from an external program like STB. I have never done (de)activating sceneries while in beeing in a flight and never heard about it before. This is how I handle the sceneries in FSX quite successfully: (De)activating the scenery in FSX libary with a Tool called "Scenery Config Editor" before starting FSX. Any unnecessary scenery/Cities will be deactivated. Also Orbx FTX Global/Vector/openLC. If I fly in Europe, only Europe Scenery files are activated. Because I don´t need Scenery files of Australia or Asia and so on. (Even FS Global 2010 FTX Compatible will be party disabled). This is an easy way to make quick changes in your scenery libary of FSX. Another thing is, I don´t really have good experience in DX9, so I use DX10 with the fixer 2.6. I am still working on the NVI settings, but right now, with the lowest acceptable NVI options, I can achieve nearly 60 frames with the iFly 737 at cruising altitude. At the airport, let´s say AS Mega Munich about 35-40. With ASN Weather powered by REX4 and the new SoftClouds! My FSX runs on the server, nothing more. Any other software like FSC, ASN, EFASS, SuperTrafficBoard and ProATC runs on the client. SuperTrafficBoard is able to control AI and that´s very useful, because I like MyTrafficX Pro 5.4c. Max setting for Traffic is about 21% in FSX. But if you use TrafficBoard you can/should start with 100% in FSX and let STB control the 100% down to maybe 25%. It all depends on the flightschedule and AFCAD how busy everything is. Any ground moving vehicles are off besides GSX. Parking/taxi/landing etc. AI Aircraft are visible. Only once, and that´s when I started with FSX coming from a long FS9 ride, I had those crashes even before ASN came out. But since I use not too many sceneries in combination with DX10, I don´t have crashes anymore. My longest flight was from Athens to Frankfurt, round about 4-5 hours (strong headwind). I am talking about iFly or Qualitywings. No PMDG or AS Airbus 319. In FS9 I used to fly the PMDG 737 and it´s a brilliant aircraft. Coming back to the OOM issue. I don´t know how many hours I spend on tweaking FSX. In FS9 I used to fly online more often. Have a look in your FSX.CFG. My advice is not to change too many things. Lod Radius should be standard 4.5 and I don´t use 2048 or higher cloud textures. I can´t see the difference. FSX is made for 1024, everything else might be ######. I think most of you all already know the behaviour of your sim and maybe you are going a step too far in the setup. FSX-MS still rules!
  17. I just found this site http://simmershome.de/out-of-memory-im-fsx-und-p3d-ausschliessen/ It´s german, but we can use google translate for those who can´t understand. He tells Win 8 would be able to stop OOM. Is there anybody who can confirm this?
  18. Does anybody use DX10? This should decrease the use of VAS also.---> SteveSceneryFixer Or are we talking about DX9 here only
  19. What about Rex Soft Clouds... I have never seen so much fog in FSX. Very good improvement. :im Not Worthy:
  20. Have faith and trust SteveFx. It´s worth it. :Big Grin: :Big Grin:
