  1. I know someone brought up the possibility of LatinVFR taking on KDTW when it was still in pre-beta stage due to Ian's absence. Ricardo stated that if he were to take on the project, he would build it from scratch and not use SSJ's code. As it is DTW is in beta, and since it's being actively (?) developed, it's unlikely LatinVFR will take that on. They're usually pretty big on not taking on scenery when other devs are doing it.
  2. I thought some people questioned that account because of the low res banner and profile pic
  3. Just a quick question. Do you find it hard to use VR while having physical control surfaces? Do you end up using click spots in the flight deck instead?
  4. I agree with Andy's way of looking at things in terms of an over-reliance on third party devs to cover deficiencies in your sim, especially if you're trying to appeal to a mass audience who may not be as comfortable finding 3rd party software to get a basic plane. Where you draw the line, that's hard to say though. With plane selection, I think FSX has a good mix, but maybe that's because it's what I am used to seeing. In terms of seasons, I personally agree with Steve. I think one of the biggest selling points of the sim is the idea that you can stream real world data to fly around incredibly accurate/realistic scenery. It seems almost antithetic, to me, to tout the realistic visual aspect of that and not reflect seasonal variances. That being said, I am fairly patient when it comes to development, so as long as they say they will be implementing it, even if maybe a little down the road instead of on release, that's perfectly fine to me.
  5. To be fair, that was shortly after they released the trailer well before they actually started engaging the community and the devs. They took a cautious approach seeing what MSFT did with flight, etc. With all the new info that has come out, and the change of hearts from those most critical (froogle), I think it's probably safe to say PMDG is a bit more open than they previously were. Edit: Also to be fair about ATC, PMDG also realizes that many people fly on online servers such as VATSIM, PE, etc, so it's not like the radio feature is completely useless.
  6. I'm interested to know how the next blog post will be worded from the MSFS team... 😛
  7. I posted this in the seasons thread, but I think it also needs to be mentioned whether the ground (friction, etc) will be affected by the weather as well.
  8. Thanks! Yea I'll probably try it again. VR is kind of why I got a 1080ti in the first place.
  9. Yea staring at a single monitor is fine because my peripheral vision still sees stationary things. However, when I have multiple monitors surrounding me or VR, I don't have that "anchor point" and it basically isn't aligning with my inner ear.
  10. Yea multiple sources have said that they are looking into it. I think when he stated that the program is going to evolve over multiple releases, basically is stating that it may not be available upon release, but it may be in subsequent releases. Either way, I can't use VR because I get motion sick. 😛
  11. One thing that I am hopeful for is that they won't feel the need to charge us an additional % because MSFS is used for entertainment.
  12. They did not charge you if you went from v3 P3D to v4 P3D.
  13. This may have been answered already, but one thing that I was thinking of is even though we won't see visible snow, and possibly rain (?), reflected on the ground if seasons are not implemented, that doesn't necessarily mean that it won't affect the aircraft's ground handling, correct? So for example if it is in the winter and the ground is covered in ice/snow, even though we don't see that physically in the sim, does that mean that it still may be modelled such that the ground friction, etc changes?
  14. Didn't they also imply in the video that they tried to make their own plane but they found the FSX code to be a much better way of going about it? The issue was it was a bit too simplified.
  15. Well that's a given, but I figured it's already being developed since they are talking to devs. Why would they not have an SDK?
  16. For me, it's seasons. Note quite sure what SDK means. I figured it is a given for devs. I don't care much for using ATC or flying rotors (though I might do it every once in a while just to pass the time). VR makes me nauseous.
  17. I believe one of the reviewers who tested out the software said it was downloading at 25 mbps https://inspire.eaa.org/2019/09/30/an-inside-look-at-microsofts-newest-flight-simulator/
  18. Unless I missed something, I'm not sure I would go so far as to say they won't have icing effects. They are modeling atmosphere and weather. The main thing is whether they will model ground textures (snow/ice/etc) as domkle stated.
  19. I watched a little bit of Chewwy's stream this morning, and he seemed to suggest that they may not release a heli initially. However, they are planning to release it later on. His reasoning (might not so much be stated by the devs) is that they want to make sure that they don't release a half-baked helicopter, but they want to make sure they model it correctly.
