If the globe livery referred to is the final demise livery, then +1 for me! If it's the double globe livery, I would prefer the demise livery first. But that's just me.

You might not need to transfer the registration to the 777-300 when PMDG releases that though, RP-C7773 (with wheel well registration 773 as a result) is a real life PAL 777-300. That way, both this 772 will have a neat registration on the wheel well (777), and the 773 will have a nicely fitting one that's accurate to the real world!

I hope they'll at least finish RPLL and other running projects. They had all the groundwork done, and they were working on T1. It seemed to be coming along nicely for a Q4 2013 release. A lot of people at the PFSG were looking forward to it. It'd be great to have it done at their quality; I find myself flying to Chubu very often, just because of the airport. :lol:

... Words fail me. I was IMMENSELY looking forward to their RPLL scenery seeing as I had built up quite the PAL fleet. Guess I'll have to wait some more for someone to finally give Manila some love. :( I'd be more emphatic to whatever caused them to shut down, but the way they quit/the farewell message is so blunt and out of nowhere I'm really not given much to go on. If it really is a family emergency or some other dramatic event, it's beyond saying that I hope all goes well for them; but if it's a small company that just decided it had enough, I'll be deeply upset they didn't at least finish RPLL/their running projects. It wouldn't be the first time this happens, a small group that starts ambitiously on a project, only to vanish after a while with all the effort/manhours down the drain. Their forums have closed as well, so I guess they're really calling it quits?

Would anyone be so kind as to modify the SIA 777 livery/make a SIA 777 livery into the previous livery tone? I'm only asking because I hope it's not that hard to do, and my last flight to the Philippines with my parents was in a "Jubilee" 772 owned by SIA (flight SQ 918) and I'd love to redo that (in lieu of a 772ER) at any time in my virtual skies. With all due respect, repeating the question isn't going to magically change the answers. Your budget is simply insufficient to get the performance you're desiring from FSX, especially if you're going to cling to the demand for a laptop as well. FSX is a **** to get working properly, on top of the required components, you need OC, enough memory, ... ; things that are much harder with a laptop. I would advise you to save up some more (which would be worth the wait!), try to look second-hand/build a computer (which would teach you skills that'd come in handy for FSX!) or go to FS9 and a less powerful computer (which would net you a bigger library of Philippine scenery).

These are some really ludicrous claims that are being made. Merely because it's a lite and low-fidelity rendition of the airplane priced at normal pricing for the country it was made in, claims are being made of the developers being on crack, the product being downright "crap"... Not every add-on is PMDG's detail level, and not every developer is PMDG. Besides, there's devs that nickle and dime you much more than Aerosim like Abacus or CLS or, if I'm to be brash, a certain Captain (if you don't put in the added effort to make it work).

In all fairness, while I don't think CS sells "junk" intentionally, I don't think it's the better of the 2 offerings either. It's not bad once you get to tweak it and help it get up and running, but I found the QW 757 to be better value for money. After all, even though CS products can be gotten to work in nearly all cases or even work out of the box, not every user is interested in doing just that. If we're honest with ourselves, this (having to tinker with a purchased product) shouldn't even be considered acceptable standard. That said, I think Martin has been helped satisfactory and the thread can gently be laid to rest -before it turns into a CS bash fest- on the conclusion that CS' 757 may be worth it at a sale and after some tinkering and certainly isn't rubbish, but right out of the box (and subjectively even against a tinkered CS) QW's 757 is probably going to be your better choice. With regards to the niggly issue you found though Martin: you can load your flight path in FSX's Flight Planner and then load it up from there into the FMS. That shouldn't take more than, say, a minute or so. It's a workaround, granted, but it's faster than manually having to re-enter everything! Glad you found a rendition you like in any case, the 757 is a marvelous bird in my book. ^_^

Well, it was their first product ever and made as a FS9/FSX product, if memory serves. This could explain the graphics looking out of date compared to the NGX. As far as FMC goes... It's a bit of a hassle to have to open the 2D FMC, sure, but I personally find it easier to use at times. Plus, they didn't really know where to strike the balance at the time between simplification and complexity, something they learned much better with the Avro offering. All in all, you made the right choice, it's just that the right choice still comes nowhere close to the PMDG 737. You'll have to wait for Level-D's 757 for that. ^_^

I'd be surprised if the consensus on Avsim swung to CS between the 2 757 offerings... That said, it's not the cheaper one, not even when comparing base pack CS vs QW. I have both and the CS version isn't worth it. The systems fidelity may be a bit more fleshed out, and you getting a thin veneer that shines brighter in the graphics department, but you pay for with with less realism in the flight dynamics and handling, poor sounds, bugs that still haven't been ironed out after all this time and plenty other issues that shouldn't be there anymore. QW's 757 is a rather simplified rendition, but you get all versions of the 757, the flight dynamics are more accurate, the sounds are bearable and all the systems that do work, work. In essence, QW's 757 should be able to at the very least tide you over until Level-D's 757 launches and gives you full fidelity. The 757 is my favorite aircraft ever designed and I'm eagerly awaiting Level-D's work, but until it comes out of being vaporware, QW will please you the best.

As a Pinoy/Belgian: Pacific Island Simulation's RPLL. Combined with PMDG's 777 release, I'll be doing flights between my Aerosoft EBBR scenery and RPLL all the time I fear! :lol: That aside, Wing Creation's Narita, Aerosoft's Rome Fiumucino, and if Chris knows which dev is doing CYYZ, I'd be interested in that too!

Which is exactly what I'm hoping for. Well, perhaps not exactly, as I think it'd be better to just have people weigh in on the best three or so developers of a scenery/plane/whatever rather than a poll, but the gist of it is similar. I find it strange that there's no "best of" threads pinned to the forum and had hoped a mod could pin this, or at the very lease use it as inspiration for one that can be modded. Threads like this one, like "which AI package is best" etc could all be stopped thus.

Would you rather tell people to "go figure out the better developer on your own" then? All I'm trying to do is pool together which developer's rendition of each plane is considered the one most worthy of spending money on. I realise "best" is subjective, but even with that, there's no denying there are better renditions than others and some are carried much more as such. If I were to list every rendition of every plane, I'd have to add Abacus as well, and you can be sure there's at least one misguided soul that'll claim Abacus is "best" and thus, with what you said in mind, destroying the purpose of the thread. Flight Simming is already an expensive hobby, and I'm sure a thread like this can have merit to avoid bad purchases and help people along. I'm not saying all these planes are "must-buy", but it'd help people looking for XYZ to get the best rendition of XYZ on the market. Whether or not they want to buy it is up to them!

You have a fair point on the FSL A320, but Level-D's 757 sounds like vaporware (god knows I'd like it differently, like I said, the 757 is my favorite plane) and every thread that mentions CS degrades into "they're horrible" vs "they're not that bad" discussions. I'd rather not have that discussion again. That said, it is my understanding that CS products that handle older planes (707, 727, 732, ...) are generally received better than their newer planes (757,767, 777, ...). That alone warranted not having them in. How good are Wilco and CLS' offerings of the A330/A340? I'd love to have both in my hangar, my hangar seems to be very Boeing-dominated at the moment... ^_^

Well in all fairness, whilst I did realize (and agree) with the sentiment regarding QW's 757 being more of a "introduction to heavier stuff" and not really full-option; it's still the best option for a 757 out there. And considering the 757 is my favorite plane, I felt obliged to add it to the list. Unless anyone knows of a better 757, in which case I'm all ears! ^_^ That aside, I'm eager to hear about people's opinion on the BBS A330, as well as the other planes (and which developer does them best).

As the title says, what are the best simulations of modern day (and not so modern day) jetliners? I'd love for AVSIMmers to fill in the gaps here in my knowledge. Note that with "best", I mean high fidelity and -at the very least- a fully functional day-to-day operation like the Majestic Q400|Aerosoft Airbus X has for now. The ones in italics are ones I'm not sure of if there's (a better) one coming (or even out) at the moment or not. Unless I'm missing something here and PMDG released a classic series 737, their 737NGX is actually the most modern of all 3 planes, followed by the 777 and then the 747. As far as joysticks are concerned, just getting yourself a €49 joystick with rudder twist and throttle lever would already do a lot for the realism. Yokes and stuff are of course even more immersive, but if you're on a budget something like the F.L.Y. 5 will do nicely. ^_^

No synoptic displays? On the 737NGX? What?

First of all -and this is said with the utmost of politeness and advisory tone-, I think you should consider the purchase of a joystick if you haven't done so yet. Although you can use an Xbox controller, you're missing out hugely on immersion and general enjoyment if you don't at least have a joystick with twist-rudder and throttle levers. I wouldn't even suggest this if you weren't asking for detailed planes, but seeing as you are, I'm assuming you'd take the simulation aspect as serious as you can. I also think the "if I can master the hardest one, I can master them all" theory goes flying out the window with planes seeing as they're all pretty hard (if modeled correctly), and they're not all sharing the same commonality (a 737 not having the same systems as a 747 and totally different ones from the A320). You get certified for "families" of planes in the real world, and this is for good reason! As a result, there's no real "easier" option between the 737 and the 747. They're both fully modeled by the people at PMDG with every possible thing you can imagine. Both planes also have radically different "problems" to master due to all kinds of factors. A 747 is a big lumbering beast while a 737 is a (comparatively) smaller plane, just to name the most glaring difference. Airbus planes make it even more different with protections, fly-by-wire controls and so on. Simulation wise though, the Airbus X Extended is probably going to be the easiest plane from the three, merely because it only simulates day to day operations and no failures whatsoever. Plus, the protections and such make it a more ... robust aircraft than the PMDG offerings. As far as PMDG is concerned, the 3 you list are all Boeings, so even though they're not fully the same, they're going to feel more familiar. I'd have to wager the 747x is probably the "hardest" because of size and older cockpit systems. The 777 will probably be right after that, and then the 737NGX. I'm sure more experienced people with more knowledge will be able to give a better reply though! ^_^

Hello everyone! I've been wondering where one can find... atypical sceneries. Since my return to FSX, I've been raiding Simmarket again for scenery and aircraft, as it was the only site I remembered from back in my 2004 days. However, I've noticed that even a lot of mainline things aren't even on Simmarket (a decent KLAX comes to mind). I have found a few things I wanted that I got from alternative sources (FSDT's KJFK & KLAX, FullTerrain's ORBX Wales and PMDG's 737NGX for example), but there's still tons of things I'm looking for. I've done a search on the forum, but I seem to be unable to find a "megathread", if you will, that gives people advice on where to find even more add-on scenery/airports. For example, I wouldn't have found out about Eaglesoft being such a huge bizjet developer, had I not asked around about it. As a result, I'd like to ask everyone to add sceneries they've added and where they found it that isn't standard fare. Personally, I'm looking for scenery/airports for the Asia/Asia-Pacific region, but I'd be glad to hear about other regions/airplanes, ... anything not listed on fspilotshop/simmarket, really. ^_^ I know AeroSim made a few good Airports for FSX in Japan, and this site has some good Japanese freeware too: http://fsx.o.oo7.jp/ . Other than that, I am at a total loss for additional scenery. On a related note: how -if even possible?- does one convert scenery from FS9 to FSX? I've noticed a group called Philskies releasing a lot of neat scenery for the Philippines, but all for FS9. Can it be converted to FSX? In any case, I'm eager to here where AVSIMmers went to find the scenery/airports/airplanes they wanted! :lol: Ray
