The carb air temp is definitely bugged. I think the needle animation is reversed. You'll noticed cold & dark it's reading even hotter. Unfortunately, last night I ran into the same issue as others with nose pitching up violently on take off. I don't understand tbh. I flew it the previous 3 nights no problem, then last night I couldn't take off without the violent pitch up regardless of weather. Full forward yoke made no difference. You'd have to pull back on the yoke, then move it full forward again after being airborne (and almost stalling). Very bizarre. I will need to try adding that code to the cfg files.

Loving this aircraft. Never had a problem taking off but I might try add those CFD changes from the flight model developer anyway. Glad there is a fix for the aux tanks. Carb air temp is bugged though, always reads too hot on the gauge, but some hunting around and apparently it's just the animation is bugged, the actual temps are fine - I guess you need to watch out for ice though if you can't rely on the gauge. Landing is a bit of a handful, but it always seems to be that way with tail draggers in MSFS. Real aircraft doesn't have a tailwheel that steers, so locking it in sim might not be quite so important perhaps?

A lot of bugs are starting to show in SU11
s0cks replied to Dillon's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Just to note, clearing/rebuilding the rolling cache fixed major stuttering issues for me. Y'all probably tried that already, but thought I'd mention it in case not. Loving SU11 so far, but I'll admit I have mostly just been messing around in the new planes, gliders, and choppers. -
Some Good Things With the Latest Update
s0cks replied to andyjohnston.net's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I thought it was supposed to be red because it doesn't have individual instrument lights? Red is less glaring so it doesn't blind you with night flying. -
What do you think of the new aircraft?
s0cks replied to andyjohnston.net's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Something about it not compiling correctly on flight launch and so you get awful framerate. -
Nice De Havilland Beaver...but?
s0cks replied to longhaul747's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
What is wrong with the DC3? I assume you got the Enhancement pack from the marketplace? Is it just a lack of extras? Or is the aircraft systems and flight model not up to scratch? Personally I think it's great. Well above my expectations. -
Sim update 11 Ground Textures
s0cks replied to Nicholas Jackson's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
At the altitudes most people fly you don't even notice that (and it's not so bad in some cities). Looks immeasurably better than default buildings imo. But each to their own. -
What do you think of the new aircraft?
s0cks replied to andyjohnston.net's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Very surprised at the level of detail tbh. The Beaver, DC-3, and A310 are really top notch. High end payware material imo, but even the others are well above the standard of default aircraft. I'm terrible at the choppers so I can't comment on them much. The gliders are a lot of fun but I need a LOT more practice. Having something a bit different to do is very welcome. I also grabbed the Kodiak and Spitfire in the marketplace sale, so yes, it's like an early Christmas! -
G1000NXi - no VNAV vertical track on PFD
s0cks replied to JYW's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
My assumption was you had to hit the VNAV button to get VPTH in the PFD and once it locks on it will audibly say "vertical track". Also, the G1000NXi is part of the base game now. Check content manager and remove the G1000NXi that you downloaded from the marketplace. Maybe some conflict there having both? -
Aerosoft Twin Otter and the GTN 750 GPS
s0cks replied to Frag's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Yeah the Aersosoft Twotter was an insta-regret purchase for me. And that was in a 40%-off sale too. I'd be livid if I'd paid full price. Still, it's an iconic aircraft. There has been talk of them fixing the sounds, but I won't hold by breath. Also to add to the list of complaints, the interactive checklists don't work either. -
Poor Performance with NVIDIA 4090
s0cks replied to elee's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Even if frame generation is off, OP should still be getting better performance than their last card, especially when they said they got low fps with all gfx options set to low. If they can get frame generation working then yeah, that'll boost frames, but the raw performance is still way too low. I would agree with most the others who have said OP is CPU limited. OP is getting nowhere near their value for money if the 4090 is being hamstrung by the CPU, but for some reason OP seems to be reluctant to screenshot their CPU core usage. -
Assuming it's the Steam cloud I think you can force it to resync from the Steam client somehow. Maybe google it? Does 80 credits translate to the right $ value to buy the plane? I wonder if the exchange rate messed up or something? I'm fairly certain I would click Buy in the marketplace and then a Steam overlay pops up asking me to buy credits or use existing credits. Once chosen it then should have another Steam window ask you to authorise the MSFS marketplace purchase. Once done it goes back to the game and the addon is shown as owned.
-
That's just the Steam save cloud. it's not that important and should resync itself. I've bought credits on Steam and used them to purchase things in the marketplace. I know it can be done, but not at PC atm. Is 80 credits enough to purchase the plane?

Poor Performance with NVIDIA 4090
s0cks replied to elee's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Are you trolling lol?? No offense, it's just frying my brain atm. I don't understand how this is happening under a completely fresh Windows install and only in this game. I'm assuming there is no limiter here. No vsync. No fps limit in nVidia control panel, or some other 3rd party limiter? Probably not but worth asking. Can you also post your individual CPU core usage when in game? Show all logical cores in task manager and screenshot. -
Messing with clouds last night and they look almost too good imo. It's sort of jarring at times to see these amazing looking clouds backdropped against the scenery haha.

Poor Performance with NVIDIA 4090
s0cks replied to elee's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
You did put the 4090 in the top SLI slot yes? You need to to get x16 mode, according to the mobo manual. Then again, other benchmarks seem fine... so probably not that. -
New FS2020 user on Linux needs advice
s0cks replied to Bina's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
No, but any addons (freeware or payware) that rely on the aircraft only sold in the Deluxe/Premium version obviously won't work. On Windows Steam version - yes. All Steam does is download a launcher. When running for the first time it will download and install the full game into a folder outside of Steam. Addons go into the Community folder it creates. Easy as. Good luck with Linux though. -
Poor Performance with NVIDIA 4090
s0cks replied to elee's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Be interested to see the CPU load per core, not just overall. Also, have you tested with all gprahics settings set to low? -
The problem is people chase not only fps, but also visual quality. That's why they want the latest and greatest hardware. I just turn down gfx until I can reach the fps I want in the most demanding situation I want to fly in and leave it at that. I mostly run medium settings with a few things at high or ultra. And imo, it still looks really good. It's easy to get caught in the trap of wanting more and more rather than just letting it go and simply enjoying the sim. That said, I understand there are situations, like VR or 4k where you really do need that juice to even get playable framerates at moderate settings.

Kodiak Amphibian announced today
s0cks replied to Bobsk8's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Understood, but the full price for the amphibian version is still half the price of the wheeled version. -
Kodiak Amphibian announced today
s0cks replied to Bobsk8's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
So wait.... I don't own either. If I get the float version I'm getting the same product as the original (albeit with floats) for half the price? Is that right? -
Yeah, she's real smooth and easy to fly. I was surprised how well she handles on take off and landing given my experience with other tail draggers in this game!
