  1. Pushing them for a firm answer outside their own forum, which would give them moderator control, is also a bit devious.
  2. It will be caused by one of those addons. If you had monitored each one and not rushed to throw everything on at once you could probably have worked out what was causing the absence of VAS release - which is what the problem is, not VAS consumption. I guess you will have to do a reinstall and try each addon in turn, but my money is on the scenery, and specifically the FSdreamteam stuff. Of course spanning a 780 across what, three monitors probably isn't helping ? Need a 970 or 980 for that Finally, as Jim advises, kill that .cfg and build a new one. There are settings in there that are either nonsense, or making no sense.
  3. Exactly as I thought. Shame some couldn't get there. There was nothing obfuscatory or ambiguous in what was stated, I put it down to deliberate bloody-mindedness. Of course you don't want to reveal all at this stage.
  4. Error message? Log file ? There's nothing here for anyone to help understand the issue, much less solve it. I'd go back to a default setup without addons and start from there. One addon at a time.
  5. I actually have yet to install any addon mesh into v3. I find the implementation of shadows and obscured lighting do a better job of suggesting landscapes than the actual mesh. In the real world the action of man is to flatten the landscape, then build on it. Autogen looks odd when sloped heavily - typically because you can't normally see it from the widow of a real plane anyway ! While addon mesh adds extra `bumps`, I'm not so sure that the sim needs them any more - at least away from the truly mountainous regions, which is a different case. It also handily avoids all issues of plateaux and troughs, which I find increasingly distracting, even with tools designed to reduce their impact. Also saves the fps impact and allows for higher tessellation settings before the stutters set in. And for more and better shadowing - the way tree autogen casts shadows across a roadway is a far better indication of a cutting than an actual cutting from a few thou up, for example: I would certainly only install mesh in such a way as to be able to remove it easily. :Raised Eyebrow:
  6. Quite obviously, one's that don't require understanding the deep inner workings of the developers mind. It's Avsim, not AvMind. Again, why have you not posted your question in the appropriate place ? I keep looking over there for your question. Still not appeared. Why is that ? What is your reluctance ? And to go back to the page you refer to and Those are as clear a statement as it's possible to get - certainly enough to satisfy the most querulous. If you want an answer to a question, pose it to the right person, in the right place.
  7. Suggest re-reading what was stated in http://www.avsim.com/topic/476682-rex-weather/#entry3314120 It's explicitly stated by Reed that the two items interact. Clearly this is the fundamental difference between this and all previous weather engines - this one actually does add textural elements that influence what you see, beyond the current option under REX and other engines to pre-set and then load the sim. If you wish to argue the semantics of individual words then perhaps this isn't the forum to do it - I'm curious why you haven't posted the question directly to the developers in their own forums ? If you go to the Weather Direct micro-site http://www.rexsimulations.com/weatherdirect.html you will see an explicit and clear statement of what will be offered
  8. Check the FTX forum here for latest updates. http://www.avsim.com/forum/471-the-unofficial-ftx-orbx-support-forum/
  9. Read as the opposite - if you have the Force elements active you don't just get changing weather, you get some variation in clouds too. But as with all REX elements it will also be user selectable, I'm sure.
  10. Tried the PMDG forum ? http://www.avsim.com/forum/136-the-pmdg-support-forum/
  11. Changes made for v3 may cause issues with certain addons. We recommend only using v3-compliant addons with v3. BTW, you would have to re-purchase the PMDG. Other than that, P3D v3 is a major step forward.
  12. http://www.prepar3d.com/Prepar3D_Download_and_Install_Instructions_v2.pdf although perhaps you should fix the double-posting problem first !
  13. Nope. Latest version is 1.7, dated 10th or 11th October
  14. Just to be clear: 1.30 is simply a patch for FSX, P3D1 and P3D2. V3 is not yet supported - quad installer to follow. If you're using P3Dv3 these are not the droids you're looking for...
  15. No need. Install FTX Global textures (no scenery entry for textures), then install UTX. That's it. If you want to install FTX Open LC EU as well then simply install UTX after you have installed the textures and the landclass product. Layering is automatic.
  16. Don't ask us, we don't know. Ask in the correct forum.
  17. Also check that you have moved the slider in the axis assignment settings in the sims GUI from the default 64 to 127, and reduced the null zone to minimum. THEN calibrate.
  18. None to speak of. YMMV but most failures seem to be caused by people doing things they oughtn't. The only `issue` is if you use FSUIPC to set axes in the sim. Then, there was a problem with axes set in the sims GUI not being adjustable via FSUIPC, I think Pete D has now fixed it with the latest version. Oh, and I did get a random lock up in v3 after I ported over my FSUIPC4 .ini from my 2.5 installation - the sim would just drop back to desktop after a few seconds. Knowing what caused it, deleted the ported .ini and allowed FSUIPC to set its' own in v3 - and all good. The benefits of only doing, installing or changing one thing at a time ! Simple tip if you are setting your assignments in P3D v3 - use the save as tool to create a copy outside of the main P3D folders. I also created a copy of the basic P3D installation to use as a file back up on a spare drive before I installed even FSUIPC, let alone any addons.
  19. I've taken the opportunity of installing P3D v3 to add FTX Global and UTX Europe v2.1 instead of FTX Global Vector which isn't yet v3 ready. Findings are: 1: UTX and FTX are extremely compatible in the general sense. There are anomalies as the UTX product does not accommodate all the texture changes that Global makes as part of the whole package approach of Global/Vector/Open LC but you really have to look for them 2: The options available with UTX are a country mile beyond what FTX supplies with Vector, but I do prefer Vectors' roads implementation - less `overlay`, more `belong`. Clearly Global and Vector are designed to work together and it shows 3: I am very impressed with the on/off options of UTX that allow for much greater and easier modification than Vector - including just switching the whole lot off with a button press in the GUI which is a lesson FTX could learn ! I've got a layered FTX Global/Open LC EU/UTX Europe setup at present and I've seen no conflicts outside the target areas. I probably will install Vector once the quad installer is made available for comparison but for now if you already own UTX it's fine to use with FTX Global. As Andy noted it's Vector v. UTX you need to be more concerned about and there it's one or the other. Everything else seems to cohabit nicely.
  20. Hybrid mode is only used for mixed installations of FTX Regional product and the General. It should never be used unless you are running FTX PNW or any other specific location product.
  21. https://fullterrain.com/eula All questions regarding the license and its interpretation should be directed to the developer at their support forum. All we can say here is ORBX/FTX have been extremely helpful to simmers looking to reinstall from 2.5 to 3.0. At no point have they demanded uninstall and reinstall. The same goes for cross-sim support from FSX - P3D. Their new quad-installer makes no reference to, or limitation imposed by, prior installation on another platform - sim or hardware. Hope this helps.
  22. OK, I see where you're coming from and while `forgiveness` is considerably less than an `apology`, it's baby steps. But please let's correct a misunderstanding: This Avsim forum is an UNOFFICIAL forum set up for the users of Flysimware product. It is not, never had been, and never will be any kind of official channel to be `run` by Joe or anyone else from FSW. You and Joe are welcome here as Commercial Members with a declared vested interest and we are grateful for your input. But it is not your forum. It's ours. Here, you are a guest in our house. If you don't like customers and prospective customers advising you on better ways to build, corrections that are needed and comments that are designed to improve and facilitate, then by all means set up your own official forum and run it with your own moderators. There you have total control over what is said, and how it is said. Or rely on email which i think we have shown in this topic alone is an increasingly frail and dubious way to judge the value and efficacy of your products. Personally, I think the exchange here has proved how important this unofficial forum is and if it troubles you that much, simply stay away. Looks like the beta testers could benefit from better supervision and Joe seems to have a handle on the customer relationship side... Thanks for 1.8, I'll be wringing it out in P3D v3 over the next few days now I've got round to actually installing the new sim version.
