  1. thank you, please do... 3 days now and I've tried everything. Been so close to refunding and then see it looking amazing in someone's YouTube video... so I hold off
  2. Hi - the MSFS Forums and bug reports are so inundated with issues that I thought I'd ask this simple question here. As soon as I load into a cockpit in MSFS2024 my camera immediately points down to the seat. I've tried everything including removing peripherals, rebinding the middle-mouse button (works fine in FS2020) and removed the keyboard binding for cockpit down, up, left, right. Has anyone else experienced this and has anyone solved it? Thank you, Len
  3. I am struggling to believe this is actually happening! usually you can't download a big title on launch day, but this time it's already downloaded! Sure, it will all work itself out in the end but come on.... first world problems I know... 🤷‍♂️
  4. Welcome to this awesome sim, never went back to FS.
  5. Just be wary of Sky Max Pro. Without Real Weather Connector you may suffer poor weather blending between wx stations (as you will with default). SMPro is also a beast of a machine hog. I have spent many frustrating hours trying to get it right. I've seen videos of Ultra Weather which may not look as good but seems to offer better representation of clouds in different areas. I have to give a shout out for G2XP. This is donation-ware and grants you the ability to download photoscenery for the area you are flying over. I use it for areas on final and climbout. Coupled with OSM (Open Street Map) and W2XPlane (for building models), I get an often jaw dropping scenery experience (think ORBX on the fly).
  6. There is so much love and care put into this module that I am stunned. Absolutely beautiful. Pictures and YouTube does not do it justice. The AFE is a stroke of genius and helped me take a couple of flights. I cannot wait to get stuck into the tutorials and manuals tomorrow and this weekend. Well done. Worth noting, my .exe failed a couple of times. Can't remember the exact error, as I was so relieved on the third attempt that it worked/. Thank you, Len Leinsters
  7. Haven't tried it yet, but I just bought it with no hesitation. X-Plane itself runs 8.1 perfectly fine and supports it.
  8. Alaska seems like the perfect real-world starting place and some great free scenery can be found here: http://rdesignx.weebly.com/ And here... http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/25190-pajn-juneau-international/
  9. Plan G is awesome. Just like the vitamin G used in my avatar pic.
  10. Make sure you have the latest version of the JAR-A320. While it does not improve the external model, it certainly improves cockpit textures, and also FMC operations. You just need to register at the JarDesign forum and look for updates. It's not going to get you anything close to IXEG but it will get you an Airbus that's not too bad for a (almost) one-man designer. I do not think it's priced right at all, but if you can get used to it and start flying it more, pick up the Blue Sky Star sounds. They improve the experience almost by double. X-Plane addons are currently hit and miss. They're either amazing or average to poor. It's early days for the sim and payware, we just have to be patient. I too, have paid for some bad stuff. But this Jar-A320 can be immersive if you work with it...
  11. Kyle - will the freight version be an additional purchase? Thanks, Len
  12. This is a huge milestone in flightsim! Congrats PMDG and welcome to X-Plane!
  13. ah yes, tdg! one problem with the org store is the search function.
  14. KHOU, KDAL are excellent freeware at payware quality, and also I just love Burbank KBUR for it's challenging approaches. Quality freeware too. Where does TDG's airports reside? I tried searching on .org with no luck Thanks, Len
  15. @carguy4471, and anybody else struggling with X-Plane, it's just like FSX and all sims before it, in that you kind of have to commit to making it work, and when you do, and you discover, mesh, and objects/mapping blended with ortho-photos (kind of like a free version of ORBX), coupled with *uneven runways*, there's really no going back to FSX/P3D. But it takes a while... honestly it took me about a year. Trying it out and concluding FSX is better etc. etc. and then one day it all just clicked and I found I didn't startup FSX for months, despite missing the wonderful Majestic Dash 8, and PMDG 777. Each to their own, these are good times for flight simming. Look at how well BoS and DCS are doing. I count myself very lucky!
  16. Deleted due to a continuous exercise in frustration and lack of patience in the dark arts of .cfg tweaking and persistent FPS management. I flew MSFS since 1995, I know what I'm talking about. Take EZCA for example, use that during a long flight and the center of the pilots view slowly moves further back because of how FSX handles coordinates. Nothing you can do about it. Sucks when you're in a beautiful PMDG 777 with TrackIR, halfway across the Atlantic and your head is in the middle of a chair and there's nothing you can do about it. No thanks. It was time to face the music. Why even bother when X-Plane 10 is so good, and DCS is better than both but limited by theater and military aircraft.
  17. I just deleted FSX and all the addon$ in favor of X-Plane. After doing the initial ground work and discovery, many of us have found no reason whatsoever to go back. But it does take time. It's kind of like FS2000 back in the day, finding all the cool stuff - that is quite often free! But to help answer your questions: 1. Get X-Camera. You can use it free or make a donation to get the full version. Free will give you everything you could possibly need to make the ideal pilot view. But I suggest donating to the guy as it's far superior to EZCA. https://www.stickandrudderstudios.com/x-camera/ 2. Default planes suck almost, but not quite, to the degree of FSX default planes. There are plenty of suggestions here on this thread, but I advise caution in what you choose to purchase. Carenado are flooding the market with their gorgeous model / dreadful flight dynamics addons, but there's a company called SimCoders bringing some of these planes up to A2A standards. (http://www.simcoders.com/reality-expansion-pack/overview). The AirFoilLabs C172 receives very high praise (http://www.airfoillabs.com/). And then there's IXEG, and the FF767 which are both exceptional. (Not to mention FlyJSim's 732!)... and the list goes on. Enjoy the journey.
  18. I am new to X-Plane and after 15 years + nursing MSFS along I honestly feel like I have discovered a brand new sim. This past couple years I have invested more money than I care to think about getting FSX to work the way I hoped it would. Just three weeks in with X-Plane and I feel I have reached the holy-grail of flight simulation - for my specific needs at this current time. Sure, I would love a great ATC program, more seasons but all of that will come. The quality of freeware scenery's are as good / if not better than FSX payware. Some designers accept donations, and I encourage everyone to drop them a few bucks. Quality aside, frame-rate hits in X-Plane are far far less than FSX. The whole experience is one of less frustration, and way more confidence in time spent simulating complicated flight!
  19. I've been flying this for the last three days. It is the only plane that has brought those PIC / LevelD Sim 'feelings' back to this hobby of mine. While I am in love with PMDG's 777, this Flight Factor 767 is everything I want in a heavy flight sim. It's that good. I'm also new to X-Plane, and the ease of use, smooth transition between weather and detailed airports, to name but two has reinvigorated my passion for civilian and passenger flight simming. I just completed a flight landing at KSFO in this bird, and not once did the frame-rate start to grind descending through cloud or on final as the addon airport and scenery started to load. Great addon for a great sim.
  20. Hello, I just purchased and installed FS2Crew Captains Edition. After uninstalling and reinstalling FS2crew, running both the FS2crew install and FSX itself as administrator, confirming UAC is disabled, enabling FS2Crew in the config manager, confirming FS2Crew exists in the panel.cfg, I am still not seeing the panels pop up inside the cockpit. I am running Windows 8.1 and FSX: SE Any advice? EDIT: Fixed - needed to assign a key (autofeather)! Thanks, Lenn
  21. Great - thank you.
  22. Hi there, There are two version of FS2Crew on the website; Captain's Set and Voice & Button Control. I'm confused whether they run independently of one another, or are both required and therefor not sure which one to get? I tried finding out via Google searches but no luck. Any advice would be great appreciated. Thank you, Len
  23. Tom - I am truly sorry to hear of your illness. I first joined Avsim during a transitional time in my life way back in 2001. At that time discovering new models, paints, and scenery's on this amazing service brought untold amounts of joy to difficult days. I learned so much and contributed often, until I fell out of flight simming for a number of years. To hear this upon my return is terribly sad. But know you have granted access to me and thousands like me, perhaps to the degree that without you and Avsim, my interests could never have blossomed.
  24. I was wondering if anyone ever experienced this and / or has a fix suggestion? After about 45 minutes / an hour, (or an amount of time in which the throttle and stick have been idle), the X55 stick and throttle fail to work completey in FSX. I have to save flight, close FSX, and restart and then load from where I was. I have not programmed them using FSUIPC. Update: I have just experienced within minutes of start, and it happened after I paused and then unpaused, the sim. Thanks, Lenny
