  1. If Microsoft makes the modern equivalent of FSX and don't abandon it as quickly, it should be around for a long time.
  2. I think it's a question of the time horizon. Four-five years from release (they've already said this product is going to be around for a while) when there are tons of addons and big features like VR have been implemented (I doubt VR will take that long), the other sims will be very niche. X-Plane and P3D won't be anywhere as popular as now. Until then, people with specific needs and products that they like will stick with the old ones.
  3. Yeah we've seen some other places where the autogen is not very specific to/accurate for the setting even if it's placed in the right location. Good opportunities for scenery developers.
  4. It’s only after FSX being dead for years that people started looking at P3D and X-Plane. Add-on developers will target their resources to this new sim. You also can’t forget the licensing issue. MS will market its product to general users and LM legally cannot.
  5. LM is not interested in entertainment and haven’t done much anyway. They’re essentially an arms dealer.
  6. Yeah I’d rather there be room to grow, but I wonder if there will be people who complain that this doesn’t run on their 100 mhz win95 system.
  7. I wonder how they and MS connected on this project specifically.
  8. It’s a huge company. It’s not their department so they can’t speak for someone else. If you read between the lines it’s pretty unlikely to be subscription. OP needs to chill out. Why jump to negative conclusions and then say you want buy it?
  9. If they haven't talked about it I would assume it might not be in the initial release. As others have mentioned, this is going to be an ongoing project. MS/Asobo will add more features and so will 3rd party developers.
  10. As a GA guy, I still think it's usable. X-Plane's ATC is still 10 years behind. I am sure VATSIM will be implemented eventually for the hardcore.
  11. Based on the fact that scenery will be pre-cached in some form (even if it's only cached for a minute ahead), I don't think it's likely that will effect FPS. Your local hardware will.
  12. Some people are going to be surprised what modern software with healthy development budgets can do.
  13. Search google for the recent panel. Reading through The lines there isn’t going to be a subscription (at least for PC).
  14. In the Seattle Interview Panel one of the panelists refers to this as a “ten year project” or something to that effect. This is in line with a lot of software these days like Windows 10. Even games these days get updates and new features for longer than in the past. Everyone wants seasons and VR right away, which would be nice, but unless there’s a disaster there will be time for updates.
  15. I would consider whether you get into alpha preview or not.
  16. I’d like the cub to have an option with no GPS.
  17. How many developers are going to upgrade their products for free? I can’t imagine if will be a lot.
  18. Although I don’t like the feeling of VR myself, this a surprising bummer. For others. My guess is that it will eventually be added by MS. Widespread VR is coming. My equivalent is seasons. It doesn’t look like it will be released right away but I’m not giving up hope for the future.
  19. It never even occurred to me to think back to this but I think you got it right. 😋
  20. “Cloud popping is this week’s “frame stutters.” Still a bit worried about seasons.
