  1. Who wants to type out "Microsoft Flight Simulator" each time? Most people realize it's not nor will be called "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020," but it doesn't hurt to be specific with sim nerds. To me Microsoft Flight Simulator covers 30 years of products. "MSFS2020" is the best. 😐
  2. Remember you can always pre-download/pre-cache, and specifically for a flight plan beforehand, which I imagine most tubers will use. As a practical matter, it shouldn't be an issue if you plan ahead.
  3. There aren't really service packs anymore. There are rolling bug fixes and new features. That's how it works for MS and most of the software industry. Just to be clear there won't be three versions of the same sim. It's 3 free ways to have scenery in the same sim.
  4. Why then? Surely Boeing and Airbus can beat Garmin for airliners?
  5. I can’t see another forum for add on aircraft but I’m on a tablet. This question is specific to FSX. I have the A2A C182 from 2014. Would the cockpit of a newer aircraft add on look much better in 2019?
  6. Looking at the trailers for FS2020 and elsewhere, it seems like GA aircraft with new Garmin systems almost have better visuals/augmented reality. What am I missing?
  7. Didn't the FS2020 team give specific reasons about the challenge of doing VR right? Something about dials? Perhaps VR on an FPS is different than VR in a sim with tons of dials?
  8. Eventually I would hope they show off some "partner" work. They have obviously won over some makers like PMDG and they know the community wants addons. I would think they start off with some "DLC" or addons in their store.
  9. To explore the world at low altitudes. (You tend to need OrbX for this in FSX so FS2020 will be great). Trying to get through the Rocky Mountains shows you its scale.
  10. The poll should be "what airports do we tubeliner simmers want?" Are any of these small/bush airports? Not everyone likes tubes. At least we know there's Courchevel.
  11. I don't have much of a horse in the race, but Microsoft is an expert at moving forward while retaining legacy support. As for minimum effort ports, it's up to the consumers right? I certainly wouldn't bother buying that. But I can imagine people wanting to use their old PMDG. There's no reason some things like complicated internal systems should have to be re-written.
  12. My question was what topics they are referring to. It sounds like the topics come straight from the community, like AVSIM for example.
  13. FEEDBACK SNAPSHOT To accommodate many of the recent discussions happening across the community from the news coverage coming out of X0, the team has decided to delay the preview of the Feedback Snapshot to mid-December. This will allow us to provide a version of the snapshot that contains all recently discussed topics and will provide a more accurate view of the information we are tracking. We apologize for the delay. So what were the topics? Weren’t they positive?
  14. In real flight in decent weather can you leave a ga plane trimmed and fly straight? I’ve never been able to do that in a sim.
  15. I'll just fly south for the winter. Before, if you went to southern latitudes (except maybe Australia), you'd have bland textures and no VFR which would not make it fun. Now you'll be able to see real-life scenery.
  16. There will be room for them in GA scenery because Azure is not going to generate 3D models for small objects all over the world, every species of tree for example. And Azure can't automatically model building facades. So sure, if you're at 30,000 feet you can get away with a few custom airports, but GA simmers will still appreciate regional work.
  17. They can't possible customize 48,000 airports. Payware is still going to be necessary for those that want super-realistic airports (outside of the showcase airports).
  18. You will still be able to use P3D if you want to so there's nothing to worry about.
  19. Lionel is probably starting to get creeped out.
  20. I think the crash reports tell them which addons aren't starting and what the errors are. So maybe on their end they can try to fix it and/or developers can patch things (like someone said the FSPUIC guy is doing). They can see what addons people are using to focus attention on that. If everything worked it wouldn't be a beta.
  21. I know it's a long way's off. I think they're trying to allow for backwards compatibility so hopefully it won't be too hard. 🥰
  22. I don't think they would be supported since P3D is not under MS control. You might get lucky, but it would probably be up to the P3D addon makers to make it compatible and who knows if they want to bother with a 32 bit beta.
  23. It's not there yet. There are latency issues. Flight sims require too much power right now.
  24. I don't think they are updating FSW or using telemetry data from it. My guess is they are seeing what sort of addons people are using so they can make sure the important ones are compatible with FS2020. Shockingly, I think it's been reported they do want backwards compatibility. Remember to backup your %appdata folder if you want to try it.
