Most people preferring dedicated peripherals. I use a controller, but I couldn't do without a keyboard. I wonder how MS plans to implement fitting in so many controls on an X-Box. In any case, I do hope MS/Asobo are future-proofing this sim a bit. PCs are almost always ahead of consoles, even if there are sometimes overlaps when a console is released.

Any Reaction to the Alpha Yet?
carbonbasedlifeform replied to Scottoest's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Some of the attempts here to circumvent the NDA remind me of the attempts to circumvent the P3D commercial license. Putting in terms of obvious comparisons to X-Plane is still breaking the NDA. Asobo/MS, a lot of us who are not in the program would be happy to take the place of the NDA-breakers. 😋 -
In my humble opinion/speculation, this is an area where people will be disappointed, but not because Asobo will have done a bad job. A ton will still come down to artwork. It's just unreasonable for them to cover the entire planet. Azure finds and places roofs. Outside of certain 3D cities, the z-axis is still up to autogen and artists. This is why 3rd parties will still play a role. I just hope people cover less popular areas like Asia, Africa and South America. I think it will be an improved version of the generic hangars we see in FSX. My speculation is that that is one hangar where select your aircraft, payload, and options. So yes it will be in-game, but not in the sense that there will be functioning hangars at airports around the world.

What We Want (Part 2)

Already happening. -
When I try OrbX I get an error about object flow. You can ignore the error but it doesn’t display properly.

GOOD News on Seasons

“FAKE news on seasons” am I right? -
So do you notice any differences? What kind of scenery are you using?
-
I'm guessing OrbX has no plans to make it compatible with the new beta? Or ActiveSky (I still want to use it despite re-awakening of weather data). Cool that FSUPIC (or whatever it's called) updated it.

Poorly with addons. Back up key folders first.

Could you test the following?
carbonbasedlifeform replied to andyjohnston.net's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Is this were fixed would trimming be easier or harder? I have difficulty keeping altitude with trimming. -
Good news even though I’m not in it.

Right, I just hope the mods recognize that. -

So has it been confirmed that these are the same Sebastian's? In my experience, Sebastian is a more common name in Europe. What about the part where this person says they are not employed by Asobo? If this is speculation, it's going to be a rumor that we constantly hear about. It also puts Asobo/MS in a difficult situation if this is wrong. -

I don't understand the P3D people. They don't seem to realize they are still basically using FSX. At least X-Plane users are using something different. (I'm so tired of looking at Southwest 737s.) -
Aerosoft on upgrade options
carbonbasedlifeform replied to siggy's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Aerosoft and PMDG are strategic partners? But PMDG has info that Aerosoft doesn't? 🤔 Anyway, I'm with @GCBraun that a year of enjoyment is still worth it. Life is short people. I'm rooting for this new sim but we aren't even sure it will be released on time. -
What about non 400 detailed cities?
carbonbasedlifeform replied to trollray's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Recognize? Definitely. Totally satisfied and immersed? I doubt it. This will be a bigger problem for low-and-slow simmers. I think there is going to be plenty of room for scenery makers to do cities and regions by having local flora and fauna, local facades, local objects, monuments, etc. Basically everything in the z axis. Asobo and MS can't make autogen (e.g., facades) or specific objects (monuments). This is especially true for secondary cities in places fewer people fly in like Chile. -
Maybe this will help? Imagine if someone asks you IF you can cross town by foot (in other words, can you run the sim with high quality with a fast plane and high details) and how long it would take to do so. You would say, "yes, you can cross by foot and how fast it takes depends on how fast you can walk/run." There's no speed requirement. It's not a perfect analogy by any means but the fact remains you can do what you want as long as you give it enough time. You're not going to get a precise answer because it will depend on how much time you want to pre-cache, how fast your connection speed is and how much you want to download. What are your specific plans? You aren't going to zig-zag a continent at low altitude in one flight right? They've specifically said you can input a route and it will pre-cache what is needed for your flight. If you're simming a concorde I would think you want to take your time to plan things out and can spare a little time before taking off. A harder issue would be a kid zig-zagging an F-18 at low altitudes across western Europe with unlimited fuel. Even then, he could pre-cache.
