November 22, 200718 yr Thanks for you reply :)Well, I would have liked an approach view a la 737NG, but I guess I could also pilot this marvel from the VC ;)Speaking of which, can you tell us if the gauges in the VC will be smooth ? (maybe it's already the case in the 747X but I don't own it so I don't know)Deniz>Deniz, >>No multiple views exist at this stage of development (except>of the First Officer's seat view). >>The MD-11 main panel view is designed in a way that the 3>Display Units (PFD, ND, EAD) are large enough to be clearly>readable so that no "Zoom view" as in the NG is required. November 28, 200718 yr The landing view is not necessary if you are doing a manual approach and is pretty much useless if you are not. You NEED to follow the F/D pickel if you are to achieve a non-ILS landing along with the Airspeed, and Vertical descent indications. Now, the approach view gives this vital info, so it is not totally useless.Regards, jack
November 29, 200718 yr Commercial Member >You NEED to follow the F/D pickel if you are to achieve a non-ILS>landingWhy would yo need the flight director for that? The MD-11 lands perfectly fine on non-precision approaches without the F/D. Besides, in many cases of a non-precision approach the F/D is actually useless...Markus Markus Burkhard
November 29, 200718 yr I guess your right...Shouldn't need it. I'm old school and just like the benefit of the airspeed indicator along with the V/S on the approach and you don't get any of these with the landing view.jack
November 29, 200718 yr Commercial Member of course, speed and V/S information is a must. Sure one could in theory live without those two on a handflown ILS approach on short final... if there are no gusting winds and such that is... However I wouldn't dare trying a circling approach into Quito without my instruments! So I agree with you, a landing view with no instruments is useless. Our forward view 2D panel has a great compromise. You see everything you need to, plus the PFD is quite big.2D panels are however always a compromise. Those who want a real landing view need to use the VC... (...and a TripleHead2Go... and a TrackIR... ;) )Regards,Markus Markus Burkhard
December 2, 200718 yr As a 2D panel fan, I wonder if you ever discussed a widescreen monitor support? I think more and more users are upgrading to bigger 16:10 22"-24" TFTs. Thanks,Toby Regards, Tobias Kister
December 4, 200718 yr Will current NavData/SIDSTAR data format be the used by the MD-11?I expect the NGX to be the first platform with a totally new data construct, just checking. Thanks, Dan Downs KCRP
December 9, 200718 yr Commercial Member Dylan,It's FS9/FSX. News from a while ago.Good news, though.Cheers,Kyle Kyle Rodgers
December 11, 200718 yr Whew!! Is it just me or is it hot in here?I am so in love!!!!It looks absolutely STUNNING!!!!!!!

If ACES implement a weather>model that shows cloud precipitation, be assured (since most>likely, I'll be doing the coding) that we'll put it in.>>Clear as mud?As is the 747 not even close to real life as is FSX / FS9 it's all about the immersion factor and the willingness ;-)I always have a big laugh when reading this kind of comments ;-)Clear as mud?http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y156/awf1/sign.jpg André
December 12, 200718 yr Commercial Member 'As is the 747 not even close to real life'Going to have to disagree... The 747 systems are very close to real life. I have spent hours in Cruise going through my fathers real world 747-400 AOM trying to catch PMDG out, only to be left stunned at how far these guys have gone. However, when it comes to climb rates, brake distance, spot on stall characteristics, we will never see this in a desktop simulation as these company's would have to pay Boeing huge amounts for access to this data + have a better platform. Still with the right coding they can deliver a highly realistic flight model.Rob Rob Prest

December 13, 200718 yr Amazing progress guys...!!!!!Can't wait and see what you're gonna do with the A320.Regards,-NavneetF/O A320DECCANwww.flyairdeccan.net
December 13, 200718 yr >As is the 747 not even close to real life as is FSX / FS9 it'sI'll bite, what makes the entire 747 not even close to real life?
