December 19, 200817 yr But your comment was about "promises" and "lying". "Big Boys" make promises all the time, and don't keep them. I can't think of anything business-wise "bigger" than an airline. They "promise" flights will leave and arrive every day at certain times, and a certain percentage of those "promises" are never kept. So they must be "lying" to us every day.Maybe we should make them all go stand in the corner and do "time outs", ya think? That'll teach 'em!I made two separate points in my posts. The first was that commercial developers can't shelter behind the fact that they are not major companies - once they start taking money they are in the big boy's world. The second was was in answer to the question who should we get mad at and replied PCAviator because it had made a statement that proved to be false. I didn't use the words 'promises" or lying" I used the words I've just repeated. PCAviator chose to make that statement and it must take responsibility for it. Any attempt to blame someone else is the typical little boy's excuse - "I'm only little and a big boy made me do it." Gerry Howard
December 19, 200817 yr Yes we do. PCAviator made statements that have been shown to be false.Wow. My bad. You said "statements", and not "promises". But the statement was about a "promised" release date. So the "statement" is false...but not the "promised release date".Thanks for straightening THAT out for me. :( Rick Ryan
December 20, 200817 yr Lovely to see how a discussion about a missed product release date or update on said date has turned into a slanging match.Again.I love human nature. December 20, 200817 yr Is this thread just free page one advertising for PCA, which may deserve it ? December 20, 200817 yr Oh come on Guys..I don't understand the Hate the PCA crowd here.PCA has consistently given me one of the best addons for Flight sim all these years. I love their Photoscenery. Its awesome for daytime flying... Its not just some phototextures.. Its pretty good color corrected textures with reasonable good Autogens... and more importantly, it has one of the best night scenery. And for large areas.. So cal etc... and more importantly, its cheap, not to mention their pick of good locations to do. THEY SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE A COMPETITOR!So. I LOVE PCA and their products. If VFR France had priced the So Cal scenery...it would go like this. They would have broken the So Cal into 3 pieces ...each one costing EUR24 each, then The autogen would have cost another EUR 20 each...and the night scenery into three peaces of EUR 29 each. and 1/4 the quality resolution from FS9 tweaked to work in FSX without the benefit of FSX non blurry technology. I know...cause I own the VFR French Alps. IF Horizon UK had done it, they would have promised you night scenery at a later date, then promised your autogen at a later date. And then charge you as much as you paid for the day scenery for their night textures when it is eventually released and you are still waiting for autogen. And yes.. I am frustrated at their announcement and not following through on their announcement. But all in all... Its a small offense.. Once their product is published...these issues disappearSo I am a PCA fan...through and through. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 20, 200817 yr Wow. My bad. You said "statements", and not "promises". But the statement was about a "promised" release date. So the "statement" is false...but not the "promised release date".Thanks for straightening THAT out for me. :(I had to straighten you out because you tried to put the words lying and promises into my mouth.I'll also straighten you out on the difference between a false statement and a lie. A lie is a false statement made deliberately. I didn't, and don't, accuse PCAviator of lying - I'm sure when it made that statement it believed it. By point in answer to the question of blame is that as PCAviator chose to make that statement it must take responsibility for the consequences. Gerry Howard
December 20, 200817 yr Following on from what has already been mentioned., Tileproxy were asked by the Google engineering department (NOT the legal department) to remove Google Earth access from the program. Could this perhaps be linked to an alternative payware subscription for FSX?
December 21, 200817 yr Well, in less than 24 hours we should know........or still be wondering due to nothing being said. :(
December 21, 200817 yr I had to straighten you out because you tried to put the words lying and promises into my mouth.By point in answer to the question of blame is that as PCAviator chose to make that statement it must take responsibility for the consequences.LMAO !!!Don't know what dictionary you are using, but the one I have (respected world-wide) says the word "lie" as a verb is defined as:1. To make an untrue STATEMENT with intent to deceive2. To create a false or misleading impressionSo, it sure seems that if you are concerned with a "statement" PC Aviator made that they must be "blamed" for making, and must "take responsibility for the consequences" of, you didn't really have to "straighten me out" about anything. Your position is quite clear...even if your reasoning isn't.I'm just curious...if you don't think they "lied" or made a "false promise" with their "statement", then what "consequences" do you really think they need to take responsibility for? I didn't put any words in your mouth. You implied them yourself with your OWN "statement". Regardless of when they get around to announcing the product, if it is any good, people will buy it. If it isn't any good (or revolutionary, etc)...lots of people will STILL buy it. Consumers are gullible...that's why advertising works so well. Just ask Billy Mays, or anybody else who sells you something for "Only $19.95!" that you could buy at Wal-Mart for $5.00. Just look at the use of the word "FREE!" in advertising. Buy one...get one "FREE!" Yeah...right. That's a great STATEMENT...but it sure isn't the TRUTH. You actually think any company in business is GIVING away anything they make for FREE? Oh, yeah...you only pay the cost of shipping and handling. *cough* *cough* Whatever works. Rick Ryan
December 21, 200817 yr In your desire to score points you seem to have, literally, lost the thread. You asked: So who are you mad at? PC Aviator, or the developer of the software? We don't even know WHO to get upset with yet.I replied:Yes we do. PCAviator made statements that have been shown to be false. You then said:But your comment was about "promises" and "lying".I responded that:I had to straighten you out because you tried to put the words lying and promises into my mouth.I'll also straighten you out on the difference between a false statement and a lie. A lie is a false statement made deliberatelyYou implied my definition of a lie is wrong and defined a lie as:1. To make an untrue STATEMENT with intent to deceive2. To create a false or misleading impressionIn that case based on 2, you must believe that PCVAviator lied? A Simple reply willl do. Tou don't have to introduce distractions or LYAO to avoid answering - a simple Yes - PCAviator is lying or No - PCAviator isn't lying will do.My position is that it is not, but that it still made an untrue statement. Gerry Howard
December 21, 200817 yr Pardon the intrusion, but... ... it just felt like this thread could use it. "Even Ozzy's wagging his tail again. Liam who?"
December 21, 200817 yr And the bickering continues. The mods are either laughing or have their fingers hovering over the 'lock thread' button. December 21, 200817 yr I really do not see what is the point of arguing like this, i think everybody understands BOTH your point now... it is much more fun to speculate what it is PCA will offer us and when :(
