December 16, 200817 yr Commercial Member As developer, it's generally never good policy to explicitly give specific release dates unless you're 100 percent sure you're going to make them. However, I must admit though it's sometimes hard to live up to this. :( I'm guilty of doing this, too, sometimes. For example, I announced that a British and Euro voice set would be available for my MD-11 product before Christmas. Well, it's turning out to be more complex than originally expected because we're trying to manage people scattered all over the world, so there's a delay.Egg on my face? Well, kinda yes... But at the same time I think most FS users are sophisticated and mature enough to appreciate the massive complexity that goes into designing and producing an add-on, and the very real room for attendant delays.Cheers, B. December 16, 200817 yr I have to agree with you Geof, for the most part. The only problem I have here, however, is that the folks at PCA have not bothered to update us after the 15th came and went. Making a statement along the lines that this release may be the greatest thing for FS since FS itself is sure to garner a great deal of interest, and I believe that PCA created a responsibility to update us after they made said announcement. PCA doesn't owe me anything, but they need to keep in mind that I don't owe them anything either, and this is not the way to earn my business.-Respectfully submittedI agree with you both here. It's a bit rediculous to make the claims and then promise the info, but not deliver upon it. As someone else said, a few days difference wont allow a competitor to push out a similar 'ground breaking' product, but it is enough time to get a lot of folks ticked off. Hopefully we can all relax and just push it all to the back of our minds until we notice that whatever it happens to be, has been announced. I know...it's hard to do that. Here I go giving it a try.... :-) Eric Tomlin Full Size LJ45 Sim Builder Hangar45.net/ FlightLevel180.org "Is this FSX or FS9, I can't tell anymore???"

With such, things happen. I was in a major car accident the last week-didn't expect it, and it delayed me two days out of my life. I didn't show up for an appointment as I was taking my wife to the hospital. My missed appointment was not angry at me though. There is another developer here that explained much the same (serious medical problems on his team) is responsible for their delay-doesn't seem to placate many though.By my watch it is the 16th today-I say cut them some slack. I am sure there is a reason for the so far 1 day delay. In any case I will be happy to see one more add on-whether it meets expectations or not. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

December 16, 200817 yr Yes, things to get delayed to to unforseen circumstances but it only takes a minute to say "Sorry guys, there will be a delay".

Sounds like you may have done better than your wife. At least, it will be a Merry Christmas as God spared both of you! Was it an emergency room only visit, or was she admitted? Guess it gets back to the old adage, :( "the drive to the airport may be the most dangerous part of the flight." Take care, Steve

She was very lucky, and we will be having a great xmas. When I think of the 20 years of accident free flying I have done, and compare to 3 serious car wrecks and others I have known that have been worse off in a car it does put flying into perspective! December 16, 200817 yr Agreed.Missed deadlines come with the territory and aren't worth getting too worked up about. That said, an update wouldn't be out of order.Of course, I doubt anyone would have noticed a delay at all had the company not touted this product as the most exciting FS development "since Flight Simulator itself." Have had a few myself...fortunately, nothing really severe. I am happy that you are both well and wil have a great Christmas. You have a lot to be thankful for this Holiday. Stay safe, my friend.Stan
December 16, 200817 yr I suppose no one can be sure what the real reason for the delay is. It could be a legitimate issue such as a medical issue for a very small staff. I think what frustrates customers is that companies make these outrageous claims and then deliver something considerably less. I understand its called marketing. In Canada we have a company that claims that they are having the greatest sale ever. Really, in the whole history of humanity this is the greatest sale that has ever been. What about the sale you had last year. I thought that was was the greatest sale ever. Not only that they have this sale four times a year. Frankly customers become skeptical over these gigantic claims when time after time it is little more than hype. PC Aviator claimed that they had a product that would change flight simulation (or something like that) and then on the day they were supposed to unveil this product they said nothing. Forgive me for being skeptical but I have seen this many times before, overhype for a product that is nothing really. Mike Keigley
December 16, 200817 yr I think what many people miss is that for the most part these developers are not major companies with scores of employees but may be a single/hand full of persons operation. That may be true but irelevant. We don't know their size - I don't remember this, or any other, site announcing by the way we're a one man and a dog operation, so don't expect anything from us.If a developer sells its products then it needs to realise it's now playing in the big boys world and that these sort of excuses (or non-excuses) aren't really acceptable. In a way. They easily could have made the announcement, then announced a release date 2 weeks from now. I'm not one to complain, but it is poor looking to leave the 15th hanging like was done. It was pointed out by someone else, even if they released it in Jan. and announced it yesterday, no one could (should?) be able to come up with a similiar "earth shattering" product in that time.~Kev
