September 19, 200916 yr Michael - Thanks for drawing my attention to the many posts re Track IR. Very helpful and informative. I was searching www.flightsimulationforums.com and couldn't find much of anything. But lots of good information right here on the Avsim Forums, as usual! I just wasn't looking in the right place.Tim - Thanks for your comments about using a joystick with two hatswitches, such as the Saitek X52. Are you using the X52 Flight Control System with separate joystick and throttle controllers? With this system, then you're saying you don't really need to go to the TrackIR system, and 3D operation become viable?I see Saitek also has a X52 Pro Flight Control System, which offers some additional interactive capability. Is that what you're using or just the X52 Flight Control System? Thanks,JohnJohnI wouldn't bother with the TrackIR system - but then I haven't tried it. I just have the X52 Pro joystick & throttle controller (not the quadrant). The hatswitches, with the space+mouse combination, are really very flexible once you get used to them and - unlike TrackIR (I imagine: as I say, I haven't tried it) - you don't end up having to turn your head / look out of the corner of your eye to see what you need.Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor. September 19, 200916 yr I just want a Boeing 777, why do you ALL hate me? :(No one hates you. But a 777 will be JUST like a 737. PMDG should make planes that are vastly different from the others- ie, JS41. You already have a 747, MD11, 737 - what is a 777 going to do that is vastly different than a 747? Essentially it has 2 less engines. Wouldn't it be great if PMDG did a regional jet? PC12? C17? Anything different than the: "take off, LNAV, VNAV" run-around? The airliners are great - but if you one, then you have them all. To me, they get really really boring after a while. Just my .2Cheers Blake Williams

If you really think a 777 is simply a twin engine 747, then I am surprised you have the mental prowess to use MSFS!I have news for you. All airplanes do the same thing: THEY FLY! So considering your Einstein-esque statement, why the hell should PMDG produce ANY more planes? They will all basically do the same thing!Seriously Blake, we all have our own preference for aircraft. Doesn't that tell you anything about how EVERY aircraft is different?Think about it. :( Fidel Lopez
September 20, 200916 yr I believe Blake was getting at the fact that most of the flying is done with CMD engaged, and the AFDS modes on the 744 and 777 are very similar. Hence the "takeoff, LNAV,VNAV" comment. I doubt he was literally suggesting the 777 and 744 are the same.I think you'll find that just about all the Airbus/Boeing/MD products produced since the 1980's are basically the same with respect to autoflight modes. Program the FMS, and engage FMS for the flight.Boeing: SPD | VNAV PTH | LNAV | CMDMD: sss THRUST | NAV1 | HOLD AAaaaAirbus: MACH | ALT CRZ | NAV | 1APPaul
September 20, 200916 yr We deserately need a PMDG quality 777i'll go out of my limb and predict it'll outsell the md-11 and 747 COMBAINED as it's such a popular and sexy airlinerjust my 10 cents.I love when the average simmer tries to use statistics and predict sales... LOLMany of us will buy any PMDG product released- I'm part of that group. Tired of Streetlights everywhere? Try MSFS DarkStreets today!

September 20, 200916 yr If I had to guess, he lies between -2σ and +2σ :(Ugh. Memories of Statistics homework. What does that mean again, 2 standard deviations should cover 66%?
September 20, 200916 yr i like the B777 too. Its amazing to see it live. But someone says the 777 is the 737 only bigger.....???!! do you know about the 777? I think between both are worlds, not only on the flight deck!! The philosophy is completely different! :( And please give me a pic where a B737 cockpit looks like a 777 ones!!?!?!? :( And for all they think they are the same A/C with different dimensions.....1. make the both type ratings and you will find the different!! 2. Look in the FCOM.The B777 is very complex and everyone who knows really about it would love it!But i understand the others, they say, we would like to have an airplane we feel to fly, like B727 A300 or B707. But today they becomes rare and the last hero's are also equipped with systems like INS and/or IRS, NAV funktion and ALT funktion compared with an ATS. And im sorry what is with the B727 from Flight-1? Is it so bad? Or the old B707 from captainsim, these are really old bombers and not bat... :(I fly them, but i would also fly them from PMDG XD

September 20, 200916 yr As a long-time B744 driver, and only the B744, I would currently like to move to a B777 as the BA fleet of B744s diminshes. I also understand that, as more information becomes available about the performance characteristics of the B787 over the next 2 to 3 years, i.e after the B737-NG and Dash-8 are delivered, I would rather move to the B787 than the B777.Without asking directly for any PMDG commitment to a B787, I would just like to register my longer term preferences.Cheers, Richard Cheers, Richard Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.2 GHz, 16 GB memory, 1 TB SSD, GTX 1080 Ti, 28" 4K display Win10-64, P3Dv5, PMDG 748 & 777, Milviz KA350i, ASP3D, vPilot, Navigraph, PFPX, ChasePlane, Orbx
September 20, 200916 yr Don't expect to see a 787 for a LONG time. To make the plane the team needs a good number of people with real world experience AND these people need to be interested in FS. I'd guess at LEAST 2-3 years before an A380 is released. Meanwhile the 787 is still on the ground...Don't hold your breath.Paul 75.8% of all statistics are made up.I agree 95.3% of the time.Paul

Planes fly? Thanks for that evaluation. Obviously, the 777 is not a twin version of a 747 - however, in MSFS - it's pretty much the same thing. I was simply speaking of the relative similarities of operations within the flight deck. As for the "mental prowess"? You're right. I have no idea what I'm talking about. I just happen to be enrolled in Airline Transport Professionals Academy working towards my MEI with 200 hours of real world flight time. You have a good day now killer. Blake Williams
September 20, 200916 yr Whilst I am unlikely to fly anything larger than the Jetstream 41, I think that the BAe 146/Avro RJ would be a good plane to simulate. It's a bit different from your average regional airliner, and I don't think that there is a detailed payware one currently available (please correct me if I am wrong). While I applaud you on your work towards your MEI (I'm not being sarcastic), 777 and 747 are not "pretty much the same thing." I know what you are trying to say, but I completely disagree with you. This thread (and the handful of others on the same topic) proves the point that we all have our own tastes for aircraft. We all enjoy different ways to fly. I understand that some like regional jets, some like turboprops, some like GA aircraft. However, I and many others enjoy flying the heavy metal. Why is it nearly impossible for some simmers to understand and acknowledge this?I've said it dozens of times, and I will continue to make one simple argument in favor of a 777: PMDG will make a sh*tload of money if they offer a 777. Worldwide use of the triple by most major carriers means worldwide familiarity among the MSFS customer base. This means HUGE sales for PMDG. (The same could be said of the 737NGX program in terms of why it's a great choice for PMDG. I just happen to have a personal preference for the 777. And yes, the world does revolve around me!)PMDG makes the best MSFS planes for sale. Period. But the J41 isn't my cup of tea. To those of you who are enjoying the new j41: I'm jealous. I'm imagine you have an outstanding new plane that you love to fly. But I'll keep my $50 and keep my fingers crossed for the PMDG 777.Fidel Lopez
