PMDG 777!

Featured Replies

How longs the J41 been out? A couple of weeks and already people are arguing about what PMDG shuould be doing next.Well, a Dash-8 and 737 sound just fine to me. How about I get back to you in 12 months time with what I would like after that? :)Anthony Lynch

Anthony, my sentiments exactly...I for one am happily buzzing around on short haul routes in the JS41, as they say, happy as a pig in ****...I didn't purchase the 744... it really is not my kind of plane, but I weakened on the release of the MD-11... I have always found them in some ways mystical, and love seeing the MD-11F LHC freighters landing in Frankfurt...As Rick mentioned, many of us would buy whatever PMDG put out. The attention to detail and quality is what does it for me, not the fact that the type may not be a current fleet favourite for your particular chosen airline... for example, I have an E-Jet series in a lot of the liveries I would regularly use that I haven't loaded up in months, pretty much since the MD-11 "landed" on my HDD, why? There are too many little things that just don't cut it, that is why...So, roll on whatever is next in the pipeline. It makes no difference to me what it is (like the idea of a flying fridge though, sounds fun...). If it is my kind of plane, then I will get it, as the quality and integrity of simulation will cut it - at the end of the day it is a PMDG... a thoroughbred in my books...The Spitfire/Mustang of FS...Andrew

...Even for those of us (including me) who prefer short/medium range flights, strapping into a 747, MD11, 767 or ...777, programming the FMS, taking off, going to bed and waking up the following day to land (real time) half a world away is an experience that you can't have in a 737 and that can be a lot of fun. ...Best regards,Bruno
That's the way, real life Captains do it Just%20Kidding.gifFor this whole debate, from post no. 2 it all went down.I don't get it, why people tend to get all nuts in forums, like they wouldn't in real life standing face to face.Yes, the internet gives sort of cover and name/facelessness but we all should act like we stand face to face and treat each other as valuable, rational human beings worthy some fair amount of respect. Some of you said it and i personally double it, i would buy the flying fridge, too, if PMDG would ever make one.In FS I haven't seen other companies with the same love for detail and addiction to perfection as PMDG shows.Keep up the good work, PMDG, regardless what ever your next and following project might be.As long as you keep up building very good addon planes, we will keep on buying and flying and loving them.

As much as I agree with many of the comments you make Mario, I think you do some of the FS addon developers out there a bit of injustice... not just the payware guys either...Andrew

.: What was the point to do MD-11 which is almost retired in real world?
Well, for me the great thing about the MD-11 is that it's something different. It's been (and continues to be) a fascinating learning experience and I consider it to be the best payware product I own - I'm one of the few that purchased it for FS9. With regard to real world ops, this is something of complete indifference to me. FS9 is not real world and I can fly what I want (mostly MD-11s, TU-154ms and YAK-40's) wherever I want, whenever I want.I understand that some want to reproduce real ops in the appropriate aircraft. Fine, nothing wrong with that. But there are also people like me who just want to do their own thing. I think there's room for all of us.This post is just intended to try and answer your question in a civil way and in no way intends to be impolite to you. :( Now, would PMDG please get on with producing a B717 for FS9 with a 2D panel. I realise that only I would purchase it, but I'd be grateful :(

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

I second that. But please do it after finishing the B777 and A340, so i can complete my EMIRATES Fleet simulation first Just%20Kidding.gif

You will still see them flying around the world in 15-20 years. So much for your brilliant "almost retired" comment.
I disagree. MD-11 is already 99% cargo airplane and 747-400 will be replaced with 777 and 747-8 in next 5-7 years (at least for major air carriers)PDF report

Your comments still make absolutely no sense, these aircraft will 'still' be flying for many years to come, be it flying self loading freight or cargo... There are still 747-200 DC8 & DC10's out there hauling.. what's your definition of retirement?Rob

While I don't have any doubts that PMDG listens to their customer base, at the end of the day they will take a look at how well each aircraft has sold in comparison to the others and make decisions on future aircraft which is based on those numbers. Companies want to sell products and the products with the biggest appeal to their customers will make the most money.

The MD11 was introduced in 1988 and flew in 1990. There were 200 built in total and 192 are still flying. Six suffered irreversible damage and were condemned. Which means only 2 are retired/in the hangar. The aircraft is about as "on its way out" as the 787. I think this misconception about the MD11 is mostly due to that fact that pretty much all of them are cargo aircraft. Seldom seen and seldom talked about. But in fact, the MD11 is very alive. I'll bet the MD11 will still be in service for at least another 20 years. The airframe has proved itself time and time again as a superb cargo aircraft. The only passenger operators using the MD11 widely is KLM (10) and Finnair which has one. (which will probably be snatched up by FedEx toward the end of the year.)PMDG did a superb job on an airliner that, although uncommon, operates all over our blue skies. :(

I keep looking out for them, and I think I've seen one (there was a curious triple contrail) but unconfirmed.Seen a couple of 747s trailing only 3 contrails, too.Best regards,Robin.

Hi folks havn't posted for ages and not often enough, I must say PMDG Products are excellent have 737, 744, md11 for FS9 and FSX, also have an ATR, 767, 146 and Airbus, So lets forget the 777, as discussed same as all the other widebody A/C.So go for something completely different, Quite old but still flying, short hops Freight and PAX, and a twin engine turboprop, Any chance of Considering the British Aerospace HS748/ATP :( Just a thought !!Thanks for the many hours of Enjoyment in learning and Fun PMDGCarl Renshaw

So what if your topic was deleted. This is a privately owned and operated forum, so the Mods have every right to delete topics and posts as they see fit. But, if they do it too much, they will starting losing customers, so it affects them in the long run.
The big problem is that PMDG doesn't have competition yet, so they still can deleting or even editing your own post without telling you what they want to modify. That why in the "secret aircraft" or like, post, some people "fought" i was in the PMDG team... Even if you are a good customer but check the forum once a year and you post by mistake questions about news of the MD11 tutorial 2, the post gonna be deleted...I hope in some months the PMDG supremacy position will be over, with the strong arrival of A2A, Airsimmer, Realair, etc... products.I just hope also you guy "PMDG" to be more aware of ours wishes and ours complains. BenjaminOwner of the 747X, MD11 and JS41 without patch PS : Since Airsimmer A320 is nearly ready "I'm ET", the A330 and A340 will not be far away. So expect to see An Airsimmer 777 before PMDG.PS2 : Where is the thread about the fact that the JS41 will be closer in FPS to a FSX plane than the MD11 ?
I don't get this fetish with modern aircraft. B747, md11, B777 same thing basically :( you program the FMC, monkey pushes the button and viola, you disable it again at 200' for the landing. Whoopie :( Give me a complex handson aircraft any day! I will give my right nut for a B727 from PMDG. I'll go hide in the bushes now :( B) FRED
Why would you give up one of your "boys" for an aircraft that has already been excellently done in payware...and I ain't talking the CS 727!I'd take a PMDG DC-8, however.

I just hope also you guy "PMDG" to be more aware of ours wishes and ours complains.
Ours complaints and ours wishes are completely taken into account at PMDG. I met some of the fine team at FANCON a few year back. Some lovely people. If you post a question that is obviously answered in the announcements section of this forum, why cant they delete it? I dont know why your whining about something perfectly logical. If your gone for a year, just read the announcements before you, bang-bang, shoot-em-up, post. Airsimmer has been working on the Airbus for almost 4 years. And you have the faith to throw out A330, A340, and 777?I think not. :(
