December 4, 200916 yr Bought, downloaded and installed. Reading the manual and configuring now. Three things.1) The Updater does not work, it gives an error about some resource not being on the server.2) REX was unable to find my FS9 installation. I'm sure the registry entry is intact though. Had to browse to the FS9 folder.3) The WX Engine Update Range. I always fly with static real world weather (using AS at the moment), so no updates after the initial weather write, how do I accomplish this in REX?More later. Mike...
December 4, 200916 yr 3. How do those planes look so detailed in the screenshots, is that anythng to do with REX? My planes never look that detailed, even when at the highest graphics settings?Rex adds a reflective option that has the aircraft looking like FSX aircraft. What your seeing is something enhanced threw REX.I wish you could add cloud shadows too, Tim, but without them all the graphics is brilliant anyway. From the development screenshots I thought this was going to be an option included in this version of REX... December 4, 200916 yr Regarding the GUI being slow, as mentioned above in aother post, it seems fine to me. Maybe I am just patient. lol Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
December 4, 200916 yr Hi.I was unaware that REX communicated / interfaced with FSUIPC, what does it do to FSUIPC guy's ?To the other posters regarding REX and ASv6.5 weather up-dates and GE Pro interface. I think that if you want to use the ASV6.5 weather then you should un-check the box in ASv6.5 settings to integrate the textures from GE Pro. This way you can use the REX textures and ASv6.5 weather. It will then also leave the Ground textures already set in GE Pro alone, but doesn't this kind of detract from the whole REX thing to begin with.I'm starting to doubt myself now, and getting confused to boot.PS perhaps the REX guy's might consider an up-date in REX to give us the option of using the weather up-date feature on a timed basis, rather than a circle / range one, otherwise we could sit on the runway / apron all day and not have the weather change at all, which if you're using either AI traffic or on-line through VATSIM etc, then you're weather would be massivly out of date? December 4, 200916 yr REX interference with FSUIPS is for weather puposes only. There is NO NEED AT ALL in this option for those folks who use other WX utilities such as AS/ASA. 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
December 4, 200916 yr REX interference with FSUIPS is for weather puposes only. December 4, 200916 yr Hi Dmitriy. Can you explain this a little please.Do you mean that there is a check box in REX somewhere? Thanks. You can use the Rex clouds only without weather, or only the water texture...etc
December 4, 200916 yr Sorry for the dumb question, but how do I use ASA for weather and REX for the textures? Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
December 4, 200916 yr Sorry for the dumb question, but how do I use ASA for weather and REX for the textures? You pick up your fav texture with REX install them into fs, close rex, Open ASA import flight plan..etc start fs thats it
December 4, 200916 yr Commercial Member Guys I want to clean up a misunderstanding from a post made earilier.REX does have a timed option when loading the weather. Here is how it works:When REX first initiates it loads the weather at start up - usually about 60 seconds after start up. The it starts two timer functions after it loads the weather.First timer - causes a weather update every 30 minutes.Second timer - is every 5 seconds. The one every 5 seconds looks at where the aircraft is located and the configuration range setting. If the aircraft - prior to the first timer going off - goes to the limit of the range then it downloads the current weather and loads it into FS9. It will then reset the first timer to 30 minutes. However, if you have a larger configuration range set and you pass the 30 minute limit of the first timer (3o minutes) it will still fire off the download of the weather and load into FS9. It will reset the range of the second timer. It is kind of complex process, but there it is how it works. The manual will be modified and it was an oversight on my part during our final review. December 4, 200916 yr Commercial Member Maybe a stupid question?! :( :( On flightsimsore.com you can choose from "instant download" and "download with DVD ROM (digital media service)". Can anybody please explain me the latter? Thanks, WolfgangInstant Download is just that. As soon as your payment is processed you can download the software. Download with DVD-ROM is a combination allowing you to download the software if you choose, while waiting for us to send it to you on a disk also. The added cost includes the disk and delivery worldwide. Cheers, Adrian
December 4, 200916 yr More later.4. The first time the program was running and I was checking it out, I was repeatedly being asked to save options and configuration manager, even though I had already done so multiple times and had gotten confirmations from the program to that extent.5. Second launch, options tab says not saved, configuration manager, saved, back to options, saved. Main tab, prompt, configuration settings must be saved. I save, get a successful message. Then another prompt, options must be saved. Done, confirmed, back to main, back to options, not saved... Configuration manager, saved, back to options, saved... Um... Back to main, your configuration settings must be saved. :(6. And yes the GUI is slow. It's the Vista of GUIs. :(Anyway, I've installed all the default texture selections, I'll now check them out in the sim. Mike...
December 4, 200916 yr Commercial Member Mike - I think you are confusing the process of COnfiguration and Options. Everytime you go to those windows you must click the save button before you leave. This is a check against the user.Reason is when we first release REX 1 over a year ago - we received several complaints about people saying they made a change in the config or options and it wasn't showing up or not.So we assume that if you are going in there you are making a change - otherwise - why be in there. So we force the user to save. It might be a little extra work for the user, but it sure keeps our support items down. December 4, 200916 yr Can't you just add another option to the configuration manager? "Auto prompt to save", check or uncheck.Or, if you insist on forcing a save, can't the program check whether changes have been made or not? If so, prompt the user to save, if not, leave the user alone...We're not all dense.:(By the way, do you have any recommended FS9 settings as REX developers? Mike...
December 4, 200916 yr As far as the interface being slow, that is also how it is in FSX, if that is any comfort, it's just how REX does things...
