Hi,I agree with you 100%, I may never go to FSX again myself, it really depends on Level-D and their 757. After purchasing REX2004 I was asked by another user if I was having problems with FSX and that's why I purchased REX2004, you will find my reply below."No problems with FSX, I just prefer FS9/FS2004, It runs as smooth as silk with the Level-D 767-300ER and all my addons. With REX2004, I may never make a perminate jump to FSX. Depends on Level-D and their 757.""All I can say is WHAT A SWEET ADDON!"

Thanks everyone for your support.Thank you for your patience as I know the servers have been slammed. Adrian and his team are doing all that he can to get handle the load. You will love how REX revives FS2004. I may never go back to FSX, it is so much smoother!

It just goes to show, make something that people actually want and then just sit back and watch the money roll in
You hit the nail on the head there Steve.

Hopefully Rex has specific serial numbers for each purchase so we can track the pirates. I'm sick of hearing how FS9 is pirated more than FSX add-ons. We need to start tracking the guys that are giving this stuff away for free and furthering the push by some developers to abandon FS9...
Off topic, but I couldn't resist. How many hundreds of FS and non-FS applications have individual serial numbers that pirates simply develop a keygen for? Or worse yet, how many applications get cracked to bypass the serial number altogether? If the answer were that simple then piracy would have been stamped out decades ago.The argument that FS9 sales are suffering because of "more pirates" vs FSX sales where there are apparently "less pirates" is beyond stupid. That would spawn the bizarre argument that stopping development for FS9 will somehow stop piracy because pirates can't hack FSX products? And what if there were no more FS9 products? Would that eradicate piracy from the FS world and we will live happily ever after? I don't believe that any more than I believe that I am the Queen of England....and I don't buy that argument from developers. This is the same type of stupid argument that says to make guns illegal to stop gun violence, but then the murder rate shoots up because only criminals have guns!Developers need to stop with the lame excuses and learn their market:FS9 users have access to orders of magnitude more add-ons than FSX users so can be very picky about what they purchase. Why would a majority of FS9 users purchase a (for instance) MD-11 or J41 (that have limited use even in the REAL WORLD) when they have access to tons of high fidelity "mainstream" aircraft like A319, A320, A330, A340, A380, ERJ 135 / 145, B737-300,500,600,700,800,900, B757, B767, B777? Niche products are attractive only to niche markets, and the rest will pirate products like these to check them out and will even wait for a long period of time for a crack because there was no sense of urgency or real need for the product in the first place. If you have $50 to spend, do you buy a product that you probably will never use, or you are not 'really' interested in, or, do you wait until something comes along that you will really want?FSX users on the other hand still don't have access to nearly as many products as there are for FS9 (both freeware and payware) to there is definitely and an itch to showcase the capabilities of the sim by purchasing almost anything to get the sim back to the level you already had in FS9! So OF COURSE FSX sales will be higher for most products because the user base is eager to get FSX to the next level (where FS9 is already there!). And more sales makes it appear that piracy is less. But release a product like REX or a high fidelity B737NG, 767, 777 or 757, etc that appeals to a large base and becomes a must have and you will make your sale. Pirates will still do, what pirates will do, but that won't cripple your bottom line if more people buy your product than pirate it. The FS9 version of REX seems to have attracted enough people to take down their servers. Those are FS9 users spending their money in droves for a product of mass appeal. But imagine if REX just modeled the weather in Paraguay...no matter how great the weather looks in Paraguay, it would be a niche product and would sell like poorly. If the developers of REX then turned around and said, "well, I release what I want to and the weather in Paraguay is near and dear to my heart" then who's to blame for the poor sales? Or is it the expectation that customers should purchase "REX Paraguay" to support the developer under threat of not releasing the next version for FS9, "REX Kamchatka"?In a business, you sell products that CUSTOMERS WANT, that CUSTOMERS NEED and that CUSTOMERS will PAY FOR. If you are a business that only sells products of interest to you and the only people who show up in your store are a handful of customers and a few shoplifters who do you blame? If you were selling the right products, you'd have thousands of people in your store and few shop-lifters would be an annoyance, but not put you out of business. On the other hand, if you are selling products that only interests you and your store is empty, those two shop-lifters are a huge deal! It all gets put in perspective when you understand what you are doing. How many hundreds (thousands?) of FS9 simmers here have been begging and drooling for REX for FS9 ever since the first screen shots for FSX? Enough people to take down servers...that's how many! How many FS9 simmers have been begging and drooling for a proper B777, B767 or B757, CRJ, etc? Well, we'll never know because no one will listen and instead release 3 A320s and a MD11. If you told me that a PMDG FS9 737-NGX didn't sell well, then I'd say, yep, the FS9 community is totally dead. If you tell me that an MD11 didn't sell well, than I'd say, really? And you didn't see that coming? How many people asked for an MD11 vs how many people asked for a B777 and which one did you deliver to the market?I truly don't mean to pick on PMDG because I love their products and own all of them (except the MD11), I'm just using them as an example which could be any company. If you are letting pirates dictate your business plan then its because you are not selling enough product. If you are not selling enough product, stop pointing your fingers at the FS9 community and figure out why. We are not a charitable organization, you make a product that we want and we'll buy it, its that simple. You can make money or make excuses but you can't do both.I leave you with this. American car companies such as GM and Chrysler went bankrupt. Why? Because carjackers are stealing their cars? No. Because they were making products that had little appeal. You can stick "Made in the USA with Pride", "Support or Products" stickers all over the cars and it wouldn't sell one. You are in business and if you want to make money then give customers what they want...it's pretty simple. Okay, soapbox mode off.

100% agrees with Mike's opinion, you hit the nail right on the head. Give us what we want, not what you think we'd like. Congratulations once again to the REX team. :( :(

I will buy tomorrow, when the servers are cooled down.. :-)And Mike, your right!

Off topic, but I couldn't resist.
Heh, I also responded to one of Dillon's posts on the same subject here http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=268164 although with much less detail.

I agree 99% with Mike's opinion, but do think that if anyone ever releases a top quality A320 for FS9, we will see large sales. We simply haven't had one yet in my opinion.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Thats awsome!!! Cant wait to get mine hehe. Just gotta wait for my wages to be proccesed then I can try and Buy it hehe. To me weather and weather effects are the single most important part of a flight sim and the airplane you fly will always be second. But thats just my opinion. Imagine flying your detailed planes (MD11-LD767-MD80 and so on) with no clouds no wind no anything and you will see my point. Thanks for making FS9 that little bit more real.

An excellent overview of the situation there Mike. :( FS9ers have had nothing really to spend their money on lately until now, and with the QW 757 out soon, that may be an interesting purchase as well. Could it be that something like the B777 is TOO popular to be developed, high expectations and all that, im not sure...

The Airsimmer A320 is pretty darn nice, IMO. It may have a few issues here and there, but those are being worked on. It is actually the Airsimmer A320 that got me re-installing F9 for the umpteenth time. lolRegarding the 777....I think it is one of the ugliest jets of all time. LOL In fact, if I were to list the top 100 airplanes I don't like, the Boeing 777 would easily be in the top 3 every single time. I don't know what it is about it, I think it has something to do with how it looks. The 777 looks like a baguette with cockpit windows. I can't stand it. LOLAs far as REX for FS2004 goes, I will be buying it ASAP after I put my son to bed. REX + PMDG MD-11 + KSFO full of AI + 60 fps? Oh yes.

Excellent work guys. Congratulations.Just had a short flight from Ajaccio to Nice early morning with the Fokker (28). There was thunderstorm activity in the region.Your clouds (I had the HD<s on) are gorgeous. Certainly in my mind your no1 feature of REX/FS9. I could actually fly in between CU+ (or CB<s).Lighting in the early hours of the morning also 'superb'.What a wonderful product to have considering the performance with new hardware. AI set at 90%. Cloud coverage at max. There were no FPS below 100.Smooth as silk. After I landed I just watched AI's and the clouds, the clouds, the lighting.ThanksPierre
