The 'sweetened VC' is nothing more than eye candy. Adding 3D switches and stuff like that... things that have zero impact on the actual fidelity and accuracy of an aircraft addon.So... what difference will it make? In my opinion, none.

The Flight1 E-commerce system requires any participant to adhere to the 30 day policy. That being so, Eaglesoft also believes in this as much as we do.Regards,Jim Rhoads
Thanks Jim.We've long believed that there are two tracks to the goal of having satisfied customers.1. Build products which satisfy customers. [Not always possible to please everyone but we do try to do so.] :( 2. Provide a refund option if customer is disatisfied in order to restore satisfaction. [No need to penalize a customer.] :( Net result is that those who keep the product and those that do not become satisfied. :(
Hey Ron,This Sweetend VC, can you tell me more about it? Will it make a huge differnce? Thanks.
As Ed mentioned there is no impact on fidelity. It is aimed at those who prefer more 3D Knobs and Switches and and some revised textures. The 3D Knobs and Switches are time consuming and will have some minimal impact on FPS but folks insist that we provide them so we aim to please. B)

Ed, FS9 or FSX it's all eye candy if you want to simulate and test real pilot skills you don't even have the need for a screen ;-)I find the lady or the virtual cabin or a laptop / wine glass / and animation more a waist of poly gones as a detailed cockpit where you spent most of the time to begin with :-) (so you see different person and opinion about the immersion factor)Does an exterior model or a virtual passenger cabin make a difference actually none regarding the simulation. But does it affect the immersion factor, yes it does. As for 2d and 3d I think personally it should be done both with the same amount of details close as possible to the real deal (hence that's what I'm doing now lol)...But I think the real art is under the hood (the programming stuff) and all other things just enhance what is under the hood lolIn general even in real life lol it's all about eye candy too but that can be different per simmer.Take a car for example, or commercial advertisements or decoration of our houses.Bottom line with the adjusted VC I think this one will be a must have for the aviation / system / simmer.Cheers,

See... "real"... an imaginary definition with no actual known points of origin. What's "real" for one is "bogus" for another and "cartoonish" for another... and the fight goes on and on and on. :(Which is why I stated... no difference. That's the truth.I find this obession with fake 3D objects as being 'real' and dismissing absolutely everything else about the addon a disturbing behavior. This aircraft in flight sim is already far more realistic than any Level D simulator for the Citation X. Far, far more realistic.... and that statement comes from a Citation X type-rated pilot who's flown both many times.

yes, indeed, you don't need a screen, you need the real plane or a level-d simulator! :( Frankly, I found Ed's comment a little dismissive and unjustly so. However, it's not the first time the term "eye candy" has been discussed so I'm not really surprised. Even weather generators, REX, FTX and ultimately FSX have all been called "eye candy".My idea of a proper definition for "eye candy" is something that is used to cover up flaws in the original product, instead of making it better. This is a desktop simulator, not a real planeWhat creates immersion in a desktop simulator? - it is what you see and hear. What you see includes the responses that you get when you operate the systems and controls. All that is happening, is visual or audible, there is no real plane :( That's the "systems fidelity" or whatever you want to call it.But what you also see is the quality and fidelity of the model, usually from the viewpoint of the pilot. And that is like Andre said, a major part of immersion. There are some models out there which do fine in the systems department, but are visually unattractive which can kill immersion. What's the point of having 100% accurate systems simulation if the looks are something from the commodore 64 era?So, a good VC adds tremendous value if the product is already good in the systems department!

another vote for a satisfied customer here. with a lack of high quality small iron for fsx (no good 737, etc) I find myself flying the CX v2 a lot! I'm still getting used to the FMC coming from a Boeing airplane, but the quality is right up there with PMDG for sure.
The quality is right up there with PMDG ?? Hummm, i'll wait before to ask refund :-) But it's true, I am very disappointed by VC (FSX version)

Sorry if you feel dismissed. I'm a customer as well as a developer. My opinions reflect what I see and think... not what I develop. I purchased the FS9 Level-D 767. Why? It's systems were modeled accurately. I didn't even bother counting the number of 3D toggles in the VC. Wasn't that important. What was important was that the aircraft performed liked the real one... in flight and systems. That was 100% immersion to me.

In another thread there was a statement from an individual affiliated with PMDG who stated that our aircraft's systems were most definitely on par with their work.In the end, everyone has their opinion of what makes a great aircraft addon... but if it's just 3D switches that are an issue and that's the only reason you won't purchase an aircraft addon... I suspect you're missing a ton.

obviously I won't be missing anything, because they are obviously making an improved VC, why? Because people wanted it, period. Its not just about quality of a simulation , its about looks too. Don't you get bored of pushing buttons all the time?

Wow, a Gold Star Review thread that starts to go towards arguments over what one or another person perceives as best, most real, eye candy, and such..who would have thunk it? :( The project received the positive review and the positive feedback on its own merits. The fact that we are sweetening the pie in terms of 3DVC at no extra cost to the consumer is another positive. We are doing this first because we personally want to see this project exceed our own expectations and secondly for the customers satisfaction.I won't touch on the personal human costs to us to do so because frankly customers don't give a flip about such matters but I will say it is substantial to certain team members at a very inopportune time.I've received a few shots which will be made available in a later posting for those interested but past that we are no longer discussing this VC stuff as it only tends to the afformentioned arguments. :(

For those interested in a first look at what we've termed a "sweetened VC" with 3D Knobs and Switches and revised textures please have a look here: :( http://www.eaglesoftdg.com/forum/viewtopic...;p=13684#p13684More to come as we progress.
Ron:Well, those screenies look fantastic...it appears that the VC has truly been transformed to something even better. Can't wait for hotfix 1.84. Thanks!

That looks pretty nice guys. I am not a big VC flyer but that is a real improvement for sure compared to the flat switches I hunt for now. I am excited for the v1.84 now!

Many thanks Rudi. These are early but they were requested so here they are. :(
