Carenado F33A Bonanza released

Featured Replies

I'd like to figure out how to put two Reality xp 430's in the cockpit and get rid of one of the adf's. Still not sure why there are two adf's tied together...
Unfortunately, they have chopped up the radio stack layout into individual slices whichleaves limited options for radio replacement. No idea why they could not have left thestack as one contiguous area.. at least for the "no knobs" model :(

Man...havin' a ball! I love the detail of the cylinder heads. The engine and compartment sounds are top notch. Another fine Carenado product.I agree with the length of the take-off roll. Is this reasonable for this air-frame? Anybody out there, a real Bonanza jockey, that bought this plane? Would be interesting hearing from you.How does it handle in simulation as compared to the real bird...?!?:)Mitch

according to some information I found, takeoff roll of the real thing is 1000 ft, or 1700 to clear 50ft.Found this on http://www.findaircraft.com/performance/ai...nce_data-68.htmAllard

They don't seem to have included takeoff charts in the docs.As far as takeoff roll the charts are on a standard day (29.92 pres, 15C temp, sea level) and was done by test pilot's with a new airplane. Usually you add about 20% to this figure if you want to be conservative. We really need to find an actual performance chart somewhere-I wonder if they just forgot it in the docs.

What are the sounds like?

I'm sad to say that, out of the box, this one's about what you'd expect from them. It looks dynamite - their best effort ever, IMO. However, it's got some glaring flight model errors. The one I'm struggling with right now is the excessive takeoff run. One thing that Carenado has shown (especially lately, with the 185) is a willingness to keep thrashing away at the FDE until it's workable. With the help of some outside experts, they got the Skywagon flying really nicely. I'm sure this will be more of the same. It looks so good, I don't mind just washing and polishing it while we wait for the mechanics to show.
How does any product pass weeks of beta testing and still have glaring flight model errors. As good as Caranedo are, I find this odd. Who tests these things?

That's TNCM, by FlyTampa:http://www.flytampa.org/index.html
Have a look in the texture.common folder... you'll have to edit 3_night and 4_night.bmp
Why don't you use the 430 instead - at least it will fit hehe. Also, how do I know what to edit? Do I have to paint the texture all black or white? Is it an alpha channel I need to work on?

1. I do not own the FSX 430, only the FS9 version...2. Any transparent areas will let through light.. so you can paint the offending areas black or change the shape of any rectangles to make them align better. Just remember that these bitmaps are upside down from what you see on the panel.

Bert

Alright I think I have it figured out...sort of LOL!I'm first fixing the lightmap over the GMA34a audio panel... with the chopped up radiostack area it makes it "fun," but I do believe I have something that looks decent. Next onto the GPSThere's no upgrade to the FSX version of the 430?

Well I've changed the lightmaps around. Honestly, I wish I had a picture of the real plane....maybe I'll do some more research. But I've done a fairly quick n dirty update for the GMA340, GTX327 and GNS430WI actually think it looks decent. I have little to no photoshop skills (I used gimp) and this was my first time really changing a texture.... Feel free to suggest a change with the light maps hehe. What I was thinking here is for the 340 imagine a small row of led lights above it and then maybe on the bottom of the GNS430 the same thing. For the GTX327 I again imagined a row of led's above it. I ended up doing gradients for the gauges....newlgmaps.jpg

Downloading now-thanks for the heads up!
Hey Geoff, it looks like you almost buy everything that is released. I am just a little bit jealous! :( Don't forget to post your mini reviewBob

I believe he hasn't purchased this himself yet since he asks about the sounds and that he's referring to this post earlier in the thread:

I'm curious about that too.
This is what I'm talking about.Say hello to my little friend. A BEAUTY!!!!
Wow, what a nice looking cockpit!!! I am going to see if Geoff can loan me some money to get this. All of my money is going for that sweet new 980x, and I will be stuck flyingthe other 50 payware planes I own :( I will get this one as it looks sooooo nice.Bob

I wonder the same... I volunteered to beta test the Bonanza MANY times but they never accepted my help. Instead we are left to fix their problems after release. At least until they start pumping out patches...Here are my changes:[weight_and_balance]empty_weight = 2125 //2183? I forgot to save old valueempty_weight_pitch_MOI = 3500 //4100empty_weight_yaw_MOI = 4000 //4500[flight_tuning]pitch_stability =1.05 //1.0parasite_drag_scalar =0.9 //0.8elevator_effectiveness =0.9 //1.25elevator_trim_effectiveness =0.9 //1.2 Controller related, probably do not need this line edit[propeller]thrust_scalar=0.95 //0.8[Flaps.0] drag_scalar = 1.8 //2.4
