Carenado F33A Bonanza released

Featured Replies

I have zero experience with a rw bonanza of any type. But I must ask - I assumed Bonanza's are fairly powerful - and the takeoff roll takes quite a long time to get above 40. Is that how it was with your debonair? I use flaps 1 notch for this model and rotate at about 80 - it's the best I can do with no wind. Granted, it's no Cirrus SR22 (I have done takeoffs in that and feel the Eaglesoft version is really close fde-wise) but it just CRAWLS on the runway for takeoff. Is this how it is???
Sorry Ryan-missed your post.Bonanza's (and Baron's) are powerful-until you had some heat, weight, and altitude. Taking off from Evanston, Wyoming (kevw) which is at 7143 ft. early in the morning with a 50 degree temp was quite memorable to me. Full fuel, my wife, 6 year old son and luggage. It took nearly the whole 7143' runway to get off-the airspeed crept up in slow, slow motion, and when my landing gear failed to come up (motor chose that time to give up the ship right then) I was climbing at 50 fpm with terrain all around me.As for published figures-they are just that. I just pulled up figures on the B55 Baron-it states the top speed is 200 knts and cruise is 191. I've never seen either of those. When I got the plane with tired old engines I saw 180 knts. and now with new engines I see 186. It also states for the Baron that ground roll is 1255 and 1700 over a 50 ft. obstacle.19,700 service ceiling??!!-maybe if you have all day.I can't stop chuckling about that one....manufacturers like to make the planes look good...when it is 5 degrees above zero here in Michigan though-now you are talking! My rule of thumb in the Baron on a somewhat normal day/altitude is to not fly/takeoff from a strip with a full load of length less than 5000ft-anything different from that requires chart study. I have had it in to 3000 ft. runways with a light load (check out my video here takeoff/landing at kdkx, knoxville). After landing there one of the locals complimented me and said they usually watch Baron drivers burn their brakes up landing there.I wanted to fly to Catalina (3000 ft.) a couple years ago. The performance charts said I could at full gross-but barelyand no margin for anything-and by the book figures which we already know are wildly optimistic (I add 20% to them). I instead flew to Long Beach and took the ferry across..Bonanza's/Barons are not bush planes though I am sure there are some that use them that way. When I had my Deb 3000 ft. was pretty much the minimum with any kind of load and temps over 70 degrees or a shorter runway meant a careful look at the charts with a 20% fudge factor. At the 2500' airport I was based for 3 years-two people and cool temps meant I'd clear the trees at the end by maybe 10-20 ft. I finally left the airport, because while very cheap, it was a safety concern and if I wanted to take my family or pretty much anyone besides myself I would have to have someone drive me up early in the morning with cool temps, fly the plane down by myself to a bigger airport to pick everyone up. Landing there was a whole other rush-but that would take me a page to describe. Now the f33 has a bigger engine than mine did, but it also weighs 400 lbs. or so more so I don't think there would be a huge difference in performance-maybe a some. With kikiwat's pitch fix I am totally very happy with the fm. I also tested the numbers last night on instrument approaches, tested expected airspeeds with power settings, did a few chandelles (the rudder response is much closer than I have seen on most fs aircraft ), did a slip, and a few stalls. The stalls pretty much get you into close to a spin-this is overdone. But I am pretty happy with the fm as it is with just the pitch fix. I haven't found a perfect fm for fs yet-but this whole aircraft and its' fm is pretty much going to keep me exclusively flying it with a huge smile on my face.

How does any product pass weeks of beta testing and still have glaring flight model errors. As good as Caranedo are, I find this odd. Who tests these things?
As far as I am aware it didn't have weeks of Beta testing.Carenado issued to the community it had entered Beta testing,4 days later it is available. In my opinion they have come up with a novel but good idea .It seems they "Release" a product but are aware it is not perfect. The Sim community them pulls it to pieces Rivet by Rivet and beasts the flight dynamics within hours of it being released (As is happening in this case)Listens to the community and pops out a patch..This is what happended on their last release...C185... and it worked a treat. This way we get hundreds of Beta testers and end up with a bird that is as near to perfect as can be...What could be better than that..Just my opinion guys but it seems to make sense.Dave

Despite my original post above, the turnaround time to resolve the issues is impressive, I have to say. Great work to all who step in to get it right. The wider community definitely works well in this regard.

Dave, well said.More for carenado: the Default/Map Page button works only in the GNS430 popup, but not really in the VC.Also (for perfectionists): The cowl flap control is not labelled in the VC Position Instruments PDF.Hope Carenado will indeed read here,Michael

Here's a reasonable aircraft.cfg for the Bonanza that takes off, climbs, cruises and descends with flap close to the numbers in the POH. Slightly slow in the cruise, if you want to fiddle reduce the parasite drag scalar by 0.1.Replace all the text in the aircraft.cfg file from the flight tuning section to the bottom with the following: Have you used EZDOK for camera placement? It is one of my most valuable addons. Check it out on the net. Extreme flexibility and ease of use for VC operations (and more).

I've just bought the Bonanza F33. Visually stunning from the outside. Two points on the vc panel. 1...I have retro fitted the RealityXP GNS430 [following dumb & dumber intructions] but I still have the default 3D knobs on the GPS superimposed over the RealityXP. Any advice on how to get rid of these would be appreciated.2... The instrument gauge lighting at night is very poor. Is there a way of improving this?Please..all answers must be "stupid simple"! :( Thanks in advance

Congrats with the Bonanza, great plane!1. There is a folder called Customization under the Bonanza folder. It contains two model folders with long names.. Copy these two folders to the Bonanza folder.2. Rename these new model folders to model.III and model.IV (just make things easier)3. Open the aircraft.cfg folder with Notepad and select one of the paints (variations) that you would like to use For that variation, change model= to model=III or model=IV depending which one you would like to use4. Start up the Bonanza!Regarding the lighting, do you have both the overhead lighting and the instrument lighting on?Try hitting "L" a couple of times.... It looks pretty good to my eyes.

My FSX F33A Instruments lights look fake and too shining in the Virtual cockpit, I can find those fake picutures in EDITED Folder . Can you guys upload these 4 right photos in here ?NimaSCREENSHOTS REMOVEDNo piracy here.

It's illegal to upload (unedited) textures from Carenado. I think it's also illegal over here to ask for them.

This is how the panel will look if the registration process didn't work properly or if attempting to install a pirated copy.
