Hello thereI have just one question about FS2 Crew for the J41. I wish to buy it, but have one thing stopping me from doing so.I read that it involves voice recognition / commands to perform important functions to the FO etc.My question is, I do not wish to use voice commands and would prefer to use joystick buttons instead, is this possible?or are voice commands absolutely necessary? Thanks very muchLazza

Voice commands are required; the button version is due later this year.

Hi RudiJG1Thanks for your reply, thats a shame. As much as I love FSX I cant go as far as to put a head set on and speak commands. My girlfriend would think i've gone crazy!! CheersLazza

If you can do voice, I strongly suggest at least trying it. All you need is a headset which you can pick up for pretty cheap.Voice recognition rates are very high, even for non-native English speakers.Voice is much better (and more realistic) than the old button control system. It offers so much more flexibility and power. As for people's wives giving them funny looks should they "talk" to their computer.... well, I suspect you already crossed the "funny looks" like when you bought FSX, so you've got nothing left to lose I suppose :(

Been using FS2Crew with voice since the JS41 version was released. There is NO going back to the buttons now....voice is so much better.cheersParksy

Glad to hear you like it. Voice is indeed 100 times better.FYI, I'm currently working on a Level-D 767 (FS9/FSX) "voice control" version if you're a 767 fan.Cheers,

The point at which you enjoy sitting at a computer and pretending to be flying an aeroplane is when any vestige of credibility you may have had with your wife/girlfriend goes completely out of the window, so talking to the thing is unlikely to make matters worse. Luckily for me, my wife already knew I was insane when she saw that I have to wear a parachute in the aircraft I fly regularly, so sitting at a computer and pretending to fly one is relatively rational in comparison to indulging in a pastime where a means to bail out is regarded as necessary.Fortunately for most of us, using voice on flight sims has been going on so long that when my wife hears me doing that, about the only comment I get is: 'was that someone on the phone, or you on your computer?' Your girlfriend might as well accept that she is going out with an aircraft enthusiast, it will be easier for her in the long run :( In any case, I bet she's got some hobby or interest that you think is mad too, and you are still with her in spite of that, right?Al

I married mine 43 years ago but she still hasn't learned not to serve coffee when I'm on short final at 140Knots. The knock on the cabing door (study door) really throws me off. Anyone know of any good cabin attendant courses around? :(

sure thing... try leaving a bunch of brightly colored, attractive sales coupons outside the cabin door...it's at least good enough to hold them off a bit...hopefully long enough until you land or at least hit pause :(

Mine prefers Cheetos :(
