July 16, 201015 yr Hi,This does not work in every case and has not removed my menu system crashes. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and have long since tried every compatibility option available, including the Vista Service Pack 2 compatibility mode option. The only fix that I have found (on my system) is adding the UIAutomationCore.dll file to my FSX main menu, this fix may or may not work for others. Although I must admit, I've yet to see anyone say adding the UIAutomationCore.dll to their FSX main menu did not work for them. There is no one fix cure all compatibility option that is going to fix every system configuration problem as listed below, it just doesn't exist there are too many variables. You won't have to change anything about your precious dlls if you just set up the fsx.exe in Win Vista Service Pack 2 compatibility mode via right clicking it. This should cure every menu crash and all other things usually cured with the changed dlls.Looks easier and more reliable to me. July 17, 201015 yr Seems like, I agree.Using Win7, 64 myself and compatibility mode works just fine. Sad to hear that it doesn't work out on every Win7 system.
July 17, 201015 yr This fix has been the single most important tweak to secure my enjoyment of FSX. I was about ready to quit because of the constant crashes.

July 18, 201015 yr Moderator I used to think that this uiautomationcore.dll problem was just for people who run 64 bit systems, either Vista or Win7, but I am running WinXp 32 bit and was having the uiautomationcore.dll crash about 6 months ago. It went away once I placed that dll in the main FSX folder. I had been wondering if it was an addon I was running that caused it or if I did a Windows update or driver update that suddenly started making it happen on my 32 bit system. Doesn't really matter now since putting the dll in my root FSX folder fixed it, but aside from me I never heard of anyone else on a 32 bit system getting uiautomationcore crash. July 23, 201015 yr I have been having problems with the uiautomationcore.dllFSX has crashed on me twice in the last week because of this. I am running windows 7 64 bit. If I put this in the main fsx folder from the link that Mike posted would you all think fsx would start behaving? Steven Penninck
July 24, 201015 yr Steven - just put the dll file in the root of FSX. That's all. It will fix your problem. If you have permission problems - just turn UAC off altogether:-http://www.howtogeek.com/tag/windows-7One thing I noticed: - the file quoted here in Mike's earlier post is version 6.0.6001.18000. The one which is recommended (from what I remember) in the original posts immediately after BMG5 posted this link:- http://www.search-dll.com/dll-files/downlo...oncore.dll.htmlon Dec 28, 2009 was version 6.0.5840.1638, and this is the version I am running - and this is the one that has has cured my "seizures". I will check out things the coming few days to see if dropping the Vista UIautomationcore.dll into the root FSX folder has solved my issue with right-click menu calls crashing the system to desktop... I do hope so, because it can be a real downer after 90 minutes VFR'ing around...Andrew Andrew Entwistle
