December 5, 201114 yr WSSS - KEWR in a CLS Singapore Airlines A340-500, was around 20 hours IIRC (again, not all at the PC). Last long haul in a Lite airliner before I tackled the more complex jets from PMDG, L-D, etc etc. Longest in a complex jet was KLAX to YMML in a PMDG Qantas 744, arriving on fumes.Cheers, SLuggy I do not have a signature. Why are you reading this?
December 6, 201114 yr Like someone else here, I have done CYVR to YSSY both direct on PSS 772 and did it the old way - CYVR to PHNL to YSSY on LVD 763.Did CYVR to VHHH on Wilco 343 and earlier this year, relived my trip to South Africa on Wilco 343 starting at KIAD to GOOY to FACT.Just two weeks ago did EHAM to TNCM on PMDG 744. Good thing about living in Canada and simming in Canada, you can get 4 - 5 hours depending on where you want to fly!Ciao gk Don't blame for my name, my parents were hippies and met in Woodstock
December 6, 201114 yr JKFK to LSZH non stop. I would do this when I needed to go into the office on Saturdays. I'd take off from JFK let the aircraft fly on my laptop while I do my work. By the time I land it's time to go home. I enjoy the fun of seeing the sun rise over the Atlantic about a couple hours before I pass over Ireland.
December 7, 201114 yr RJAA-KATL 12.8 hours in real time - all on VATSIM. B777 equipment as DAL280. I used the real world flight plan. Left within 5 minutes of the real world flight, and arrived at the gate within five minutes of the real world flight (same day)!!! Incredible trip!
December 7, 201114 yr Longest routine flight- KEWR-LLBG round trip, 9-10 hours going, 10-13 hours return.Longest infrequent- KEWR-Kai Tak Checkerboard 15-17 hours each wayLongest flight done weekly: KEWR-EGLL round trip... In fact today I was up at 4 am for work, did the Heathrow Express in Railworks, then the 8 1/2 hour trip from London with a 120kt headwind the entire time. Was so frustrated by the headwind, I landed reversed the route and I am currently 3 hours into KEWR-EGLL with a 620kt groundspeed and winds forecast to increase another 30kts later in the flight. So I was doing 350-380 from London to Newark and I am hoping to hit 650+ before the night is done and do the 8 1/2 hour westbound trip in under 5 1/2 eastbound... With 30-45 minutes of pre-flight and taxi at each end that is about 15-16 hours in a 777 today :)Edit: 135kt direct tail wind right now, 625 kts ground speed or about 720 MPHand still climbing! If I can hit 650 kts which is about what the winds are forecasting I will be cruising at 750 mph and do the entire trip in about 5 hours 10 minutes wheels up to wheels down, 3 hours 20 minutes quicker than the flight from Heathrow to Newark!!! Amazing what a difference the winds can make :) Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
December 7, 201114 yr Double! For pretty well all of the above. Diehards, I salute you! Do you sit in for the whole flight or take crew breaks?I feel quite amateurish with my regular 3 - 4 hours.Regards,D
December 7, 201114 yr Moderator I've done EGLL-KSFO-EGLL in a 777 several times leaving it unattended overnight with Radar Contact handling comms. When I retire I want to fly EGCC-PHNL over the top of the planet. That should be really interesting. Only 7088 miles. Another flight I want to try is PHNL-RJAA in Concorde crossing the IDL. Just inside Concorde's 4000 mile range. Ray (Cheshire, England). December 9, 201114 yr Double! For pretty well all of the above. Diehards, I salute you! Do you sit in for thewhole flight or take crew breaks?I feel quite amateurish with my regular 3 - 4 hours.Regards,DWell, my crew breaks consist of me leaving the basement, going up the stairs, grabbing a cold beer from the fridge, then back to the cockpit, the back up the stairs, restroom break, back to the fridge, and occasionally making the odd sandwich. December 9, 201114 yr I don't recall the duration of the flight, but I once took off from San Francisco KSFO in FS5, flew in a north easterly direction on autopilot, drove to the grocery store with my wife and upon our return made a few course adjustments and soon, a grid of yellow lights appeared in the distance, Chicago! December 9, 201114 yr That must have been EHAM - KSFO a very long time ago, in the days of SATCO (predecessor of VATSIM) It was one of the first major fly-ins and in those days it was necessary to perform a short online test flight a week in advance,so you could 'prove' your modem connection was stable and fast enough When I arrived at KSFO after many hours, I was on a parallel approach with a Lufthansa 744.Online flying still being in its infancy, it was very impressive.Geeezzz, I'm getting an old fart Location: Vleuten, The Netherlands, 17.3dme SPL 108.40 | Simulator: FS2024 System: AMD 7800X3D - Gigabyte X670 - RTX 4090 - 64GB DDR5 - 2 x 2TB SSD - 32" 1440p Display - Windows 11 Pro
December 9, 201114 yr In my 'young, free and single' days when I had plenty of time on my hands (apart from going to work), I used to on many occasions take off from my local airport at the time (EGCC) in the early evening, cruise to approx 30,000 ft then set a random heading and put it on autopilot. I would then go to bed not knowing where my plane would be in the morning, kind of exciting in a strange way as this added the element of surprise. Most of the time when I would see whereabouts I was I would be somewhere over the ocean miles from anywhere!Unfortunately as life changes I don't have time to do that kind of crazy stuff anymore! December 9, 201114 yr My longest flight is from São Paulo GRU to Madrid MAD , flying a TAM A332 , almost 10 hours including all the preparation of the flight! I made a similar flight in real life but it was GIG/MAD/GIG (and LIS in the middle) with Iberia A340-600 , so i wanted to do something similar, but TAM only flies to Spain from Sao Paulo ( I like to pretend im a TAM pilot , as currently i live in Brazil lol ) IRL the flight is overnight , so i put the aircraft on route , then sleep , then wake up and voilá im almost in Europe ready to descend.
