Just when I thought people on Avsim were civil.    Up with the BIG BOYS is a condescending statement.   Remember that by you your own admission .. perhaps not everyone is looking for what YOU are looking for.  I personally like the PMDG and CW aircraft ... So it is perhaps, by design that QW goes after the segment of the market that likes the QW level of simulation... nothing to do with not being a BIG BOY.
Don't worry about him. He's got a personal axe to grind:http://forum.qwsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2060&p=16458#p16458

QW made EXACTLY what they said they would, and delivered it. Why anyone would question that is beyond arrogance. Not only did they do that, but they also made it VERY clear as to what they were releasing, including providing a manual free so anyone could know BEFORE purchasing exactly what they were buying. As an owner of every plane mentioned so far in this thread, and a lot more, I think quite honestly that FOR ME, the QW is perfect. I dont have the time or inclination to spend an hour setting up a flight. I don't want to run through never ending checklists and spend 15-30 minutes programming a FMC, or hours reading through a 500 page manual. I want to do exactly what the QW 757 provides, launch it, file a FP, program the items needed on the AP and FMC, and fly the plane.I have the PMDG 747 and it sits in the hanger, for one over-riding reason, the FMC and the LACK of an option to load a FSX flight plan without spending waaaaaay tooooooo much time programming it. Not to mention the 2D cockpit looks like a video game instead of a flight deck. Now thats MY opinion and obviously the PMDG fans will disagree, and thats FINE, to each his own.But coming to a public forum and trashing a developer because they released EXACTLY what they promised, and then 2 SP's to IMPROVE it, is ludicrus.Find another plane that gives you what QW does for that price point: top quality graphics rivaling the best available and far better than most, both FS9 and X versions, 2D and VC cockpits, 125+ liveries, realistic sounds and performance, multi-crew compatibility, a $45 pricetag, and outstanding service AFTER the sale, then compare THAT to the QW 757. Quite frankly, you ain't gonna find one. I, and a LOT of people are now waiting for their 787, and happily flying the 757 until then. The bottom line is that for a start-up company, QW has raised the bar, and others have a lot of catching up to do if they want to compete. The soapbox is now available for the next user Nail%20Biting.gif Edit: I just saw 'oldbears' post, that does explain a lot

Ernie,At no time have I asked for a simulation of the B757 for both sims, I was of course, referring to a single simulation. That is what the Level D was, at that time for FS9 only.
I don't see how this would be a fair comparision. If QW produced only an FS9 version their price would be lower than what they are charging now for both FS9 and FSX versions. That still would be significantly lower than the LDS FS9 only price. Even QW's current FS9/FSX price is lowerthan LDS's FS9 only price ( £28.15 to £34.37).Anyway you slice it, the QW757 is priced lower than the LDS767.
All most people want is a top level sim of the '757' for FSX.
I'd have to agree with Ben, that this is just not true for the majority of customers.
What I have seen by reading the PDF manual is anything but top level.
I'm pretty sure we have said many, many times, this is a medium level product.
Even PSS did a fantastic simulation of that aircraft which is still not beaten by anyone, and how long ago was that?
And where is PSS today ? Out of business. Its not easy man, LDS is in year 5 of their 757, AirSimmer took at least 3.5 years that I can determine for the A320basic version. For some devs its a bit more prudent to reduce the scale a bit and get a product to market, that will still appealto most simmers.
Why take time to develop a 757 which, as you know, is not depiction of reality?
Why produce a LevelD type 757, when LevelD is already working on such a thing ?Its not our fault its taken them near 5 years. But that high detailed systems simulation 757 market is stilltheirs for the taking. It seems that your angst about the lack of such a 757 product is directed at the wrong developers.Regards.Ernie.

Why is everyone saying the levelD is so so great? I fly it a lot and ye it's good, but some buttons in the VC don't work, and i gotta go switch to 2D to click on it

Ernie, At no time have I asked for a simulation of the B757 for both sims, I was of course, referring to a single simulation. That is what the Level D was, at that time for FS9 only. You devs keep telling us that FSX is the way forward. PMDG aren't interested in FS9 any more. All most people want is a top level sim of the '757' for FSX. What I have seen by reading the PDF manual is anything but top level. The bar is raised now by PMDG and LVLD (and others, Feelthere for example) and those are the devs that are producing as real, to the actual aircraft as one can get.Even PSS did a fantastic simulation of that aircraft which is still not beaten by anyone, and how long ago was that? Why take time to develop a 757 which, as you know, is not depiction of reality? You mention the superb sound set and I am not saying it isn't, well done, but TSS are filling the gap mostly with sound sets for those who want them. Another poster accused me of assuming everyone is the same as me? I was merely giving my opinion of the majority of people I know (I have been here a long time) want. PMDG and their forum are full of these characters and the ones that are getting there.......... Maybe one day you and your company will be up with the big boys, I sincerely hope so?
Much more of this and we'll end up with 2 or 3 developers for FSX that have the resources to produce the extreme upper end products, and maybe 1-2 new planes a year if we're lucky (because of the time and effort it takes to make them). Then watch the AVSIM forums for upset people! If you don;t like a product, don't buy it. Thanks, Bruce.

I have to say, the notion that maybe one day Ernie will be up with the big boys of FS development is quite probably the funniest thing I've ever read on the internet. If ever there was someone who thoroughly deserved to be regarded as in the premier league of FS developers, it would be Ernie.Al

I agree, as far as I'm concerned, any aircraft that requires access to the 2D panel in FSX in order to fly is not designed for FSX although it may be compatible. For that reason alone I uninstalled my copy of QW and confined it to the bit bin. I know that there are folks who prefer to fly with a 2D panel and there are those that only want to fly with a virtual cockpit but I doubt that any flight simmer who would prefer to have to use both at once. For my money the textures may have changed but the QW757 is still a model designed for FS9 and it shows.

Nostalgia .. LVLD was excellent when it was first released for FS9.    But, compared to today's releases for FSX .. its just OK.  So people are responding based on how tremendous the aircraft was in the past.

This applies to the pre-SP2 models. Native FSX models were delivered with SP2.

Ah john, just to point out the obvious, the quote you referred to was referring to LVL D, not QW. QW flies fine from either cockpit.

I loaded the QW 757 up (virtual cockpit of course) and during reading the instructions for start I had to go to the 2D cockpit to access something on it which was the simicons panel. The simicon panel doesn't appear in the virtual cockpit mode nor could I find a keyboard shortcut to display the simicons panel in the virtual cockpit. So I had to go to either the menu bar or the 2d cockpit in order to be able to open the simicon panel, neither of these options are acceptable to me. If I have this wrong I would just love to be enlightened because I had high hopes for this aircraft.

Is high hopes defined as simicons on the VC panel?
