November 19, 201015 yr Euhm... woow PMDG. It's sound very well that what you guys are doing there in the office with a cup of coffee. - Well I repeat: Don't mess up the 737 NGX, please take your time to complete the 737 NGX to that what you wanted to get completed. Do not release it to get it released becauseyou and also the consumers will regret it. I prefer wait a few weeks more to fly in a very nice airplane without bugs than flying in a very nice airplane that contains full of bugs.:rolleyes:Keep it up the good work, PMDG! :( Steven Albi

November 20, 201015 yr even if it's $200+ it will still be a bargain.Nah, not really a bargain anymore. Hopefully it will get the same price like the 747X and MD-11 now?:( Steven Albi
November 20, 201015 yr You'd shear the tow pin, so you would go nowhere and more importantly, nil damage to the aircraft.MattActually the shear pin (at least on the tow bars I've used) only prevents the nosewheel from turning too far. If you rotate the nosewheel too far to either side during push back so that the tow bar passes the line on the nose gear door, you'll hear a pop and the head of the tow bar will be able to rotate to either side by about 15 degrees. If you continue pushing, you can still do significant damage to the nose gear (but by that point you'd be pretty close to #2 and hopefully have the common sense to stop!).I've had pilots forget to release the parking brake before, but you notice pretty quickly when you step on the gas and don't go anywhere. That picture of the torn up mains that Kenneth posted is a bit of a fail (looks to me like an A319/320/321, US Airways?), and it looks like the aircraft was towed for a while (with the driver facing forward instead of looking at the mains). To have that amount of drag and not notice, it must have been a big ol' pushback/lektro. -Peter Allen

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

November 22, 201015 yr Commercial Member Pete-No- it certainly wouldn't.At my line we had a check-captain land with the parking brake on. He had been helping a newly hired First Officer understand something about the hydraulic system and something about that discussion caused him to set the parking brake. The conversation topic changed- and the brake remained on. The only reminder they got about it was upon touchdown. Very ugly...There have been a half dozen of these incidents just in the past few years that I recall. For the life of me I still can't figure out why manufacturers don't have some kind of indication to say, "HEY STUPID!" It wouldn't take that much- since all of the proper sensing systems are already in place. But then again- somehow millions of pilots manage to land WITHOUT the brakes on day after day... :( Robert S. November 22, 201015 yr I like the Hey Stupid light idea.. Can replace the Master Caution light with that. :( Steve Jordan Aviation Structural Mechanic SH-60B/HH-60H/MH-60R/MH-60S USN FSX Hours: 3000 and counting
November 22, 201015 yr Isn't there a Master Warning as well though for fires and stuff like that? It may be because I am in a different platform that I view Warnings, Cautions, and Advisories differently. On my aircraft a caution capsule is usually something that can be prevented like the parking brake being on, and other minor things of that nature which is why I jokinly said that. Warning system is for fires, engine out, rotor RPM low, and major things like that. Did not mean to offend by my post by any stretch of the imagination. November 22, 201015 yr Maybe it could be an addition to the GPWS/FWC call-outs:"TOO LOW GEAR""TOO LOW BRAKES" And if you still continue"HEY STUPID, YOUR PARKING BRAKE IS ON!" lol Alaister Kay
November 22, 201015 yr Excluding situations like the one Robert described, how can you engage parking brakes during flight (as it's not possible to have them engaged before takeoff)???It's not in any checklist and I find it quite difficult for a pilot to confuse it with smth else in the cockpit... A BIG mistake indeed! George Golas ---------------------- I hate gravity!
