A little Heads-Up on the NGX...

Featured Replies

Robert,Thank you for the update, HUGS is going to be quite a bit of fun to use in real nasty weather. Regarding the wait, I can't imagine how difficult it is for the PMDG staff to hold back on revealing everything you all have been working so hard on. These monthly offerings help the cravings but I needs my NGX FIX! The bar has officially been raised but how much farther will it climb?Thank goodness release day will be an online event and not involve brick+mortar stores as I think someone would end up dead by being trampled on by a mad posse trying to be first to get the NGX!For those who don't own TrackIR, you are in for a thrill once you do. I got myself TrackIR 5 about a year ago and have not flown without it one time since. Once you go TrackIR you can never go back. :biggrin:FYI, Track Clip Pro is a must, search the google and you will find a way to get a nice discount on a package deal. Happy Holidays to all and Team PMDG.

No, it's only a select few BBJs that even have it as far as I know. We can't really rewrite the FSX graphics engine either, which would probably be needed to simulate a FLIR camera realistically.
Of course people could use the ENB settings for "night vision" as you can make that, but still not the same, hehe :)

Using that night vision sort of tech. creates a whole new set of procedures remember. I have seen a few instruction videos that included this and they have to turn off the night vision quite often in the approach to verify at certain points if they can see the runway lights, because as you know, at DH you must be able to see the threshold with your own vision, not with the aides.

FLIRs aren't so cool when you completely destroy two $26,000 units that belong to your work inside of a month... Not that I know anything about that or anything.

I will be away starting Dec 6th, back on Jan 12th.. I am going to try an resist updating myself in the meantime and hope that when I get home she will be available for purchase :-)Sometimes its good to keep the surprise...To the PMDG team, so far so good! I'm enjoying the MD-11 very much still and loved the 744. This is going to be a great addition to my collection!

Captains,There have been a number of requests for an HD version of the HUGS combiner video, so we've just uploaded a higher resolution version. Watch it here tiny, or click

for the full size.

Enjoy.

Hi guys! I just wanna to ask you something: I dont know if the HUD graphic model is finishes but the HUD glass combined with the cockpit glass wouldnt give it a "darker" color? because when you see the cockpit mess it's hard to believe that the HUD glass still intact and really looking like there's no glass at all with no finger on it and etc.Am I just being to picky and used to the cockpit dirt? ^^By the way, I almost fell of the chair when saw the video on HD!! Simply awesome :( ..Bruno.

Great stuff, really amazing! Can we preorder already?

Thanks for the update, certainly has something. :( *drool* Wondering how it will be once up in the air. Hope it's gonna be as smooth as any other gauge. Oh well, I hope the EFIS will be smooth in general, VC wise.Oh, and I never quite noticed that MIC/PTT button (next to the also new CLOCK one, quite Airbus style I find...) on the glareshield on any NG I have seen so far. I've seen it on EMBs but not Boeings. Love it. If I'd fly that bird I'd use it exclusively. Big%20Grin.gifsig.gifEdit:

You eventually might. In fact whenever unused, the combiner is stowed in a padded case above the Cpt's head, and for some reason I assume pilots are a bit more careful with it than with other parts of the flight deck. Plus there simply is no reason to ever touch it but for (un-)stowing. So just taking an educated guess here but there might only be little chance for as many finger prints, food and beverage leftovers on the combiner glass than commonly found in other spots. :( And it's just another layer of glass, so even when you look thru both the combiner and the windshield your view is not going to get darker.

Have you seen what the guys at VRS did on the FSX Rhino? It's pretty nifty stuff.

That video was amazing, I was actually a bit surprise how the lighting and finishing touches made the cockpit look so real. The sticker on the window was believable and the little bolt with sticker above the HUGS was so readable... Not to mention the proportionate and plastic look of the knobs for the overhead panel and the LCD screens bleed through lighting effects.Breathtaking... The VAs will be crawling with pilots who wants to fly short hops in this one, and before we know it, a 777 will be in our hands with the same level of realism... Oh my...
