A little Heads-Up on the NGX...

Featured Replies

There's a wide range of looks in photos due to camera settings (exposure, white balance etc) and the lighting intensity. What we did was ask our tech team pilots to show us photo examples that most closely matched what you see on average with the human eye in the actual cockpit. That's what they did and this is what we're going with. We're not about to argue with or second guess people who look at the thing for a living. You should know too that a lot more people complained about the lighter color in the previous screenshots - you're the only one who's said anything about the darker ones.
Agreed! The darker looks way better; the video espeically shows this well, better than the screenshots. Most NGX's seem to have darker grey (newer ones even darker still) and less sliver color on the panels, so I am glad they were re-done! FSX seems to always over-lighten things anyhow and sometimes washes color out. So I'm happy with the change:) I hope this bird has interior sounds on the wingviews if possible:) FSX sucks in this regard with exterior sounds for wingviews, there are ways around it, but never seems to work out right when adding in wind noise etc etc...

This is no Boeing thing... So yes, it can be incorporated into Airbuses as well, as in CRJs, as in ... :(sig.gif

does airbus [commercial] have this technology?
Of course, it's not a 'Boeing' system, rather developed by Honeywell. Airbus offer it as an option on their aircraft.LH and AF use 'brake to vacate' on their A380s, which is a different concept but pretty impressive. I'm not sure about SQ/EK/QF. The crew selects a runway turnoff prior to landing, and the autobrakes regulate deceleration as necessary to make that turnoff. I think I read that a similar system may be offered on the 787, but I'm not sure.

Airbus, or rather Thales system :Thales LinkCan you imagine that ! EVS on a HUD... :(BenjaminEdit : Rockwell Collins do it also (Video), but i don't understand why using only a single color when you can use 2 or 3 (on LCD HUD) ?

Yep, the BTV function is a pretty neat idea indeed. However, I wouldn't call it a different concept. BTV is there to, well, do what you described. Whereas RAAS is, as the name suggests, more intended to prevent critical runway incursions. Plus it has that remaining distance function, true. :( Think it would be awesome if the 87 had something similar.sig.gif
I came across this on you tube and was just wondering if this is a feature on the NGX or just 777, this is the only video I have seen where it is said, but I think its from the cockpit where it is telling the pilots what runway they are lining up on. So is this a feature the NGX does or will have or neither?http://www.youtube.c...h?v=-8a6qbF9ECgMike Davey 777
I believe 747 have this as well. I know there is also a call out of the runway while on approach as well.BTW, the real world airframe is just the NG. The NGX refers specifically to the PMDG product.

brilliant work guys well done. One quick question thoughwill the hud have the evs system incorporated? Kind Regards
No, it's only a select few BBJs that even have it as far as I know. We can't really rewrite the FSX graphics engine either, which would probably be needed to simulate a FLIR camera realistically.

That is pretty cool. I did not know they put FLIR's on the BBJ's.. I can back Tabs up with FLIR being next to impossible. As something that I am actively looked into for one of my own projects. Not to mention trying to incorporate that into this complex HUD that they have built. I looked up some photos/video of it though on Google. Is one pretty cool system, and it looks like they have installed it on a whole range of aircraft.

but if you searched for FLIR you could have found it easily - Forward Looking Infra-red Imagery. There is even a company by that name.
