Ms Flight new photos

Let's not loose site of the fact that Flight is a work in progress and there is no general release date yet.MS can't win when releasing a SS or video. If they do not realease anything, people tend to start erroneous rumours about it.When they do release something, some fail to realize the it is indeed a work in progress.Personally,IMO,at this ealy stage indevelopement, Flight does look promising. :(

Awesome, love the HDR lighting.I think under the 'magic and wonder' of flight, microsoft will take care of us :(

Microsoft Flight will be a whole lot better than some of us feared, and as good as many of us hoped.Merry Christmas
Re-read this just now and thought the same thing as when I first read it this morning, "Great post!".Thanks, SpiritFlyer!

It looks nice, what I'm looking for though is smooth, accurate winds/weather, better ATC and hopefully better performance. Also compatibility with current add-ons would be nice too so we don't have to wait 3-4 years to get the PMDG 747, MD-11, J41 and NGX working in Flight, not to mention Level-D who would take 6 or more years to make the 767 work, then nevermind the 757.All I fly is IFR though. Maybe with Flight I'll start flying around in some GA to look at stuff?

The default terrain and water looks good, but the real work that has to be done IMO are the sky, the sun and the clouds. It looks like they are still using the ancient 2D sprites for the clouds. I really hope the sky and the clouds will get a makeover, e.g. with better shaders, better haze (e.g. sharpness of the sun varies with how hazy it is) general visibility changes such as inversion layers and stratus (especially overcast stratus) and localized visibility changes in shower patches and fog. Randomly generated '3D Volumetric' clouds that can reflect sunlight and casts shadows onto itself, the ground, the aircraft and other clouds would be great too.I know it's a big ask but at least they could make an SDK on the graphics engine for the 3rd party developers. Just imagine the possible results:

Looks like they are including an ENB Bloom type of affect as well. Looks particularly nice towards the horizon, providing an atmospheric effect the farther one looks.

Intresting, MSF should be an intresting release, though right now Im still deciding to stick to FSX.

They are amazing screenshots. The textures are much more refined than stock FSX textures and the coastlines are far more detailedf.. But if i remember correctly, Aces greatly enhanced very localised areas in the stock FSX and we all drooled when we saw the posted screenshots (there were very few of these greatly enhanced areas however) . If I was to go to Cape Town, South Africa, (where I am from originally) or Brisbane, Australia, would I still be drooling at the amazing realism ? I would like to know how much of the stock world scenery is covered to this extent of texture detail.Optimistic though. A great step forward in default detail.Eric

The bloom you are talking about is most likely just the weather. Going by this, the weather engine must have had a nice upgrade! :(

My problem is with pic number 5. Is it my imagination or are the farm textures way too blurry in that pic? They seem very low resolution for the distance. The low texture resolution makes the autogen trees not blend well and makes them so out of place.

Yeah, yeah they are WAY too blurry. It is wrong on every possible level.Rolling%20Eyes.gif

Wrong on every possible level. LOL. Haven't spent much time in a real airplane flying on a hazy day, have you. It is a perfect representation of what it looks like.

Possibly a bit of sarcasm in the Duke's reply ? A gentle nudge in the ribs of the Winosaur's.Andy

Well I fly often and I don't see haze that way at all. Haze removes the opacity of scenery not blur it. In fact, notice in pic 4 that haze will hide the scenery enough that you couldn't tell if the textures are blurry or not. Put another way, scenery gets hidden in haze; not smudged. Also when hazy you can't see so far in the distance as you can see in pic 5. Unless my hardware can't keep up with my FSX set up, I get crisp textures even in hazy conditions. More importantly, when hazy, the autogen trees lose opacity and they do not, so vividly, pop out of a blurred texture as they do in that scene.I am not trying to start an argument here, but TO ME the textures in that pic are not as crisp as say textures from say Orbx FTX or even the other five other pictures. There are two possibilities for the blur that I can think of. Either the hardware is having a hernia rendering the scene or more likely they are, simply, using lower texture setting.

I am not sure if you are trying to be sarcastic here or not, but I just realized I am not alone in noticing it. Rayan, on the third reply to the original poster also noted the blurries.

So far all I see in those shots is pretty much what I already have using FEX, GEX, UTX, and other addons. Ain't no 'WOW' factor yet, but as always I'll wait and see
