3rd Party Development...

Considering that MSGS is looking to hire someone to take charge of SDK development and documentation, that bodes well for the potential extensibility of MS Flight... :( https://careers.microsoft.com/JobDetails.aspx?ss=&pg=1&so=&rw=1&jid=29189&jlang=

We are looking for a technical Program Manager to own the graphics and environment features for the game, as well as drive and define the tools and 3rd party SDK.

Very promising indeed :

...lead a team of industry veterans to create a high performance and great looking experience. You will work closely with a handful of select 3rd parties to evaluate our tools and documentation as well as our own internal development team to create the SDK...
and
...Work closely with 3rd party content creators to gather feedback and build production requirements...
:(

KInd regards

Very nice! :( I really do hope the sdk for flight will be the best one made and give the 3rd party developers the power and some control to make some wonderful add-ons. :(

"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."

It has some very interesting phrasing:"...an approachable, fun, and high fidelity gaming experience...", "...a revitalization of PC gaming...", "...3rd party SDK...", "....handful of select 3rd parties...", and "...Work closely with 3rd party content creators...".However, what are 3rd Parties in this context? Are they developers specifically contracted by Microsoft to develop content for Flight or are they independent 3rd party add-on developers in general?

I knew someone would read that Xbox reference and assume that Flight will be ported to XBox (or are you being ironic Jeff? Black%20Eye.gif )

Is the tongue-sticking-out emoticon not the standard visualization for irony? The emoticons aren't labeled in a consistent manner, so it is hard to tell. Maybe this one is better :(

Sorry Jeff. These emoticons are so emotionless :( . I wish there were tooltips to tell me what they mean :( .Still, I bet there will be someone that will read those preferred qualifications and take it as proof that Flight will be ported to XBox B) . Anyway, time for a quick :(

"handfull of select 3rd parties" ..."Work closely with 3rd party content creators" are the dev. selected by MS (one is sucking up MS big time) telling MS what's working and what's not working with FSX so they (MS) can make the appropriate changes to FSX to make it better and call it Flight (no compatibility)..... $$$ for MS and the dev....

I would sure love to know what 3d modeling program gets the nod!! Will it be a low end (as in inexpensive) or high end (as in second mortgage time). Time will tell as they say.Regards, Mike Mann

That is indeed good news. It's the fist time I've heard of a SDK for flight. :(
