February 25, 201115 yr Just a quick question. I'm using version 1.6 of Gamebooster because several forum members said that the version after that actually used as many resources as it was supposed to free up, in their opinion. I was wondering if anyone knew if the lastest update was any better. Each time I open the program it says that an update is available but I've been reluctant to download it. Would welcome any opinions on this topic. Bill Bill
February 25, 201115 yr I use the latest version all the time, it works wonders on my system!! Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
February 25, 201115 yr I've always updated Game Booster with no issues of any kind and, about 6 months ago, bought it. I run FS9 on an old PC (6+ years) and GB really makes a big difference for me, regardless of whether it's the freeware or payware.Bob
February 26, 201115 yr I have stayed with Ver 1.6 - basically for two reasons - 1. It is free (the updated version is now payware).2. The updated versions added a lot of "bells and whistles" which I do not need or care for.GB 1.6 has alway worked well for me - so I have seen no reason to say "yes" to the update reminders.Just my take on the subject.
February 26, 201115 yr Author Thanks everyone for your replies. Haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. Bill
February 26, 201115 yr I Use GBoost which I find much better than Game Booster.Check it out here:http://www.gzero.com/gboost/home.htmlIt's free!David
February 26, 201115 yr I am using Game Booster 1.6 and the freeware Zone Alarm. Game Booster has no access to the Internet; I have locked that in Zone Alarm and isn't whining anymore for a new version.rgds,Hugo
February 26, 201115 yr I've tested both GBoost and GameBooster and obtained the same results in terms of FPS in FS2004. signed: José Luis
February 26, 201115 yr I have been using an app from time to time called FSAutostart which seems to basically do the same thing as Gamebooster although sometimes I do wonder whether it makes any difference at all to the frame rates! Reading this thread however makes me wonder should I try Gamebooster. Does anyone have any information on how Gamebooster compares with FSAutostart? Thanks,Bill
February 26, 201115 yr I want to know some of your results when using/not using Game Booster as I' ve just downloaded it and tested this afternoon, I didn't see much FPS differences Hoang Le i7 13700k - Sapphire Nitro+ AMD RX 7900 XT - Asus TUF Z790 PLUS D4 - Gskill Trident 32GB DDR4-3600 LG 34GP63A-B Ultrawide - ASUS VG259QM MSFS2020
February 26, 201115 yr I want to know some of your results when using/not using Game Booster as I' ve just downloaded it and tested this afternoon, I didn't see much FPS differencesUnless you have an "ancient" PC, I don't think that Gamebooster (or similar products) nor defragging has any decernable effects on framerate.I have used two defrag products and two products that shut down "unnecessary" processes, and have never seen an improvement in frame rates, stutters, etc. It's my opinion that they offer more of a psychological effect - "I've done everything that I can to improve frame rates, therefore they surely must be improved."gwillmot
February 26, 201115 yr I want to know some of your results when using/not using Game Booster as I' ve just downloaded it and tested this afternoon, I didn't see much FPS differencesRegarding FPS, it doesn't much if something at all, but it eliminates some "hick-ups" that may appear when some task or unwanted service is started. What I like about Game Booster, it's a "One (double) Click" application, no hazzle with the selection of services you want to stop or setting on halt as long as FS runs.Rgds,Hugo
February 26, 201115 yr Game Booster doesn't help (on my old pc, at least) with improved frame rates; it DOES help a great deal with my RAM, only 1 GB, allowing the completion of most flights without having to use Ram Booster. For my system, GB has proven to be the best, but results may be different for other systems. For giggles, however, I'm going to look at G Boost.Bob
February 26, 201115 yr Author I've tried FS Autostop and found Game Booster to be a lot easier to use. Framerates don't improve that much but the sim seems to run smoother. I'll take a look at GBoost. Bill
February 26, 201115 yr Hello, Unless you have an "ancient" PC, I don't think that Gamebooster (or similar products) nor defragging has any decernable effects on framerate.I have used two defrag products and two products that shut down "unnecessary" processes, and have never seen an improvement in frame rates, stutters, etc. It's my opinion that they offer more of a psychological effect - "I've done everything that I can to improve frame rates, therefore they surely must be improved."Agree ....Stopping services is nice .. but those services use very little amount of memoryDefrag is also a placebo :( One thing efficient for reduce stutters (if any) is to stop any services (like antivirus realtime scanning) who acces files and folders.Regards.Gus.
