They can't test their product against every computer system setup in use, so obviously there's going to be a patch or update or two. I don't know of any PMDG (or other developer) product that hasn't been patched or updated at some stage.
I believe one developer ran its mouth off about having a bug free product on release, I forget their name but they had a catchy slogan "No Compromise" I don't think pmdg would ever make a claim like that, but seeing how complex their stuff is I'm surprised they don't need that many updates to get it right.

Your system is nearly identical to my own... (grats on that btw, I remember a time when you said you'd never be able to upgrade to run FSX hehe) there's not gonna be major problems here. Will we have a few small service updates here and there? Probably. There's not going to be any need for major patches though (unless it's to add features, not fix bugs) - in alpha this thing is already less buggy than a lot of "finished" products I own. Not bragging here, this is just how we operate - the MD-11 and J41 were the same way - we do not release with show stopping issues.

Your system is better than mine in one respect, Ryan. Yours has the NGX on it already! :wink:Edit: on upgrading, I had absolutely no choice, unfortunately. My HDD on my previous computer went away to that great PC in the sky and so I thought, "Screw it" and just got a new computer from Dell.

VNAV and approach/autoland logic is the main debugging focus in the current alpha version. I'm not going to go into details of exactly what aspects of it, that's private internal information - but that is what's being worked on primarily right now.
VNAV seems like the achilles heel of writing realistic FSX simulation code. In fact, my memory tells me that most of the advanced MSFS products we've all enjoyed over the last 15 years typically require at least one patch before these behaviors really stabilize. I'll also concur with everyone else that such a "tweet"-length one-liner goes miles in keeping the rank and file happy.Thank you.

EDIT: nevermind it appears to have been removed. But thank you for the update Ryan, as many have said, a little one liner goes a heck of a long way.Regards

Best regards, happy flying,

.Come back when you can't fly the NG, because you didn't read the manual. I'll be right here, along with the others, answering your questions.Wow... What's it like being an all knowing expert??Jack Hancock

Not to be a a really excited user Ryan... but I don't know how you put up with some of these more "speculative" posts... The topics turn south in 5 posts or less regardless of topic as of late...Buddy Morgan

Wonderful!Seriously?I never claimed to be an expert. I said I'd be here to answer the questions for those who didn't read. If you're going to try to pick fights you should try to find a better target.

Ryan,The high quality of PMDG is not in dispute, and I hold PMDG up as paramount among its peers, however, the new software will likely have problems, everyone understands that. In fact, it is possible that, given the complex nature of the 737NGX, some of the problems will indeed be show stoppers. Unless, of course, I don't share the same definition of a show-stopper as PMDG does. For instance, as I look over the PMDG MD-11 1.20.0055 Update Notes, I see 34 fixes to the FSX version, for which I am grateful. Here are a few:2. Added safeguard against "bad" flight plan files that caused freezing when origin/destinationICAO codes were entered in the F-PLN INIT page fields.3. Fixed CTD issues with airports that had a very large number of SID/STAR procedures (e.g.LFPG in AIRAC-0901 that includes 159 SIDs).Now, out of a list of 34, having only two that appear serious is indeed a good sign. My point is: with software this complex, and with the complications of having to work around FSX, and with a software shop the size of PMDG (which is relatively small), there is a high likelihood that we'll have a service release or two. Having said that, you are probably correct in saying that of the one or two SPs you issue, the problems will very likely be small in nature. Also, it may be worth recalling/noting that the wait time for the MD-11 was about the same. I also believe that the MD-11 was quite an innovative product upon its release in 2008, and I'm sure the 737NGX will top that.Lastly, a poster above had it right: a locked thread which is updated with short missives from you or others on the team would really hit the spot. I guess, as you point out, you are damned either way. I call this the ACES/FSX factor, they caught an absolute drubbing from the Hoi Polloi during their "let's get it out in the open" experiment.Thank you again PMDG for continuing to share progress with us. Have pity on those for whom this is an addiction, it is likely we're also the folks who have sprung for the printed manuals, etc.

Hey Guys,I'm not wishing for PMDG to release details but perhaps the VNAV ability of the 737 will perform in excess of the 747 (Which I already think is excellent). The question is, can anyone envision circumstances were more accurate VNAV is necessary?Things like RNP approaches perhaps?

Hi all,A good idea would be, to not react on every little comment someone makes.. Someone makes a oneliner thats not really friendly, then 10 people jump over them to defend PMDG, or to attack that person. Best way is to read over it and not react to it.. It only fuels the debate here.. And then the outcome would be, yet another closed thread. I do understand both sentiments though, i just dont type it 24/7 on this forum.. Live and let live:-)

Sorry folks - numerous people aren't mature enough to have these threads open. Wish I didn't have to do it, but I can't sit here 24 hours a day monitoring this, I'm not superhuman.
