Vin, I apologise if my observations in the thread "This is what the NGX looks like" on the NGX VC versus the picture that was put on the forum upset you. This was not my intention at all, just an observation which you answered to my complete satisfaction. The thread was locked so I couldn't reply there. No hard feelings I hope! :blush:Iain Smith

It wasn't your comment that maybe misunderstoond (read: maybe), but it's ALL of those comments."Oh when is it's release date?" "Oh that doesn't look like the picture" "Oh this..." "Oh that..."Respect for taking up with that kind of comments for so long PMDG Staff! It's ready when it's ready, updates when there is an update needed.Done! Stop asking, go outside and enjoy the weather!Regards,Lukas

Iain,Yesterday happened to be a perfect storm of quite a few, er.. challenging events... Including a preponderance of comments on this forum and on Facebook regarding display colors, window sizes, window transparency, livery colors, requests for charts comparing the NG to an A320 and an MD11, untold amount of nitpicking about misinformed minutia, and countless indignant demands for a release date.We totally understand everyone's impatience. We haven't followed through on some promises, and this is taking very long. However, we just ask everyone to remember that nobody desires a release more than we do. We have thousands upon thousands of long hours invested in this airplane, and believe me when I say, we will not hold onto this one second longer than we have to.What we also ask is that you all sit back and understand that from the beginning, our goal was not to explore the outer edge of the envelope, but to bust through the envelope and bring this airplane beyond the stratosphere. We are all perfectionists, and we've come a long way from that relatively misshapen, crude airplane we developed nearly 8 years ago. With extremely rare exception, what we are showing you from this NGX is what we know to be true, not by eyeballing, not by color picking from airliners.net or elsewhere, but through long, hard research, multiple trips to simulators and real-life NGs, a dedicated and exceptionally capable tech team, and finally a partnership with Boeing, the benefits of which cannot be understated.Try to ignore my obvious bias when I say this airplane has exceeded our own expectations for thoroughness and accuracy. It's a remarkable product. So please be patient a bit longer, sit back, relax, and enjoy the anticipation. We'll do our best to be patient as well...

After 8 years that 'crude' airplane you developed still stands with the best and delivers countless hours of enjoyment to many enthusiasts. I expect the NGX will do no less...Regards,DJ

Dear PMDG,I never ask for release dates and I'm patient. I think the plane will be beautifull and beyond standard quality. But... (always a but),I read an annoyed post by Ryan (Who shut down a thread) and now your reaction. Please understand it is not strange that people are asking for dates and so on. PMDG was beyond the 'cone of silence', and everybody thought that 'this was it'. From then it was a steep descent to release. And then there was silence again. The recent silence, and the lack of new liveries irritate people. We really want this plane and all of our comments about release should be seen as a compliment. Of course you all explain about your fantastic work and the cause of the delays. Of course we know that debugging takes a lot of time. But there were a lot of promises that were not be kept (release to wider team, new video, etc) at the moment people were realy excited. I understand PMDG's side of the story, but please understand the future owners of an awsome plane. Please don't be annoyed because of a small group of people that keep complaining. Don't shut threads because other people would like to post in it too. Like I said... it's a compliment.Thank you for this plane.

I agree. I believe a lot of the frustration on the part of the customers stems from progress updates and comments made that sometimes end up being pretty far from reality. For example, previous to the plane entering beta, we were told beta was going to be an extremely short process as the plane would be "finished". Nearly a month later, here we are still in beta. Again, I'm not complaining, I just understand why some here are frustrated.-john rodgers

Yet, you are complaining.I vote for silence until release, of this and any other product.

Thanks, Vin. I really appreciated your post. We're impatient but we'll no doubt get over it when/if you have time to feed us an update or release the bird.

Vin, That crude airplane was break through in what it did for Flight Simulator and also for FS2Crew. I am one who has been waiting but I and everyone will be here when PMDG releases the 737. JeffG

Gooday Vin,"that relatively misshapen, crude airplane we developed nearly 8 years ago" enabled me to enjoy many hours of landings, takeoffs, missed approaches, and engine-out takeoffs and landings in the real NG simulator in Atlanta, Ga. Regards, jen noulet

Thats because they said that before choosing their Tech team! They didnt realize how picky we would be. Now they are regretting it. HeheNo, but in seriousness, you will know why in the end what you waited for. The quality of this thing is fantastic. These guys are improving it every second. I know you want updates but that just takes up their time with videos, programming updates, etc. I bet I can open my MSN window right now and find just about the whole Dev team (the ones that I do have on there which is about 8 of them. yes there is more but the ones I deal with directly) are working on this project right now. I feel like saying Hi to them all the time but I know they are busy and I do not want to disturb them. I do not take it as an insult that they are not chatting with me right now either because I know what they are doing. These guys are on here early in the morning to wee hours of the am working on this. I do wish I gave RSR a different email though for the bug reporting system because all I get throughout the day is msn popups saying Bug>>Fixed, Bug>>Fixed, Bug>>Fixed, Bug>>Fixed, and so on. Just proof how busy they are. All I ask guys is PLEASE let go of the Release dates questions, the You broke your promise statements, I am going to buy another product comments. I am only part of the Tech team and it is kind of frustrating see it all. As we all know release dates dont mean a darn thing in FS? Until its available on their website for purchase their is always the potential for delay. Its like the saying in aviation when your company is thinking of buying a new type of aircraft, "I won't believe it until its on our ramp painted in our colors". So in the meantime why not compile questions on the operation of the NG. Learn how its meant to be flown. There are countless things to learn. Grab a hold (if you can) of some companies SOPs and learn them. For example, when you take off how many of you actually do a VNAP A/B, also knows as NADP 1/2? Do you know these are actual requirements for jets? Its not like the old King Air days when you just blast off and climb at 140kts! Get some enthusiasm going instead of the negativity being derived from the released dates etc.For now keep the blue side up unless its intentional.JackColwill

JackC couldn't be closer to truth here.I am betting most of the whiners don't even realize what they are getting. Seems like some people have difficulties in grasping the equation: quality = time. After being part of a few of the Level-D releases myself, I can already see the huge flow of "this ain't working, right!" posts, that are only due to misinformed "pilots" :), but even that nasty part is Fun, as you'll know the plane will educate the users in the end!I have read the Gen forum for a few months now, and I've seen numerous people claiming to be SW marketing specialists, telling why SW never needs to be 100% complete, and why they need to release Now(!). And other people who will tell that no company can achieve success with "so many broken promises". And then the odd thousand whiners who are constantly heart broken because some update that they were "promised" never came.I am a strong believer of "total silence" and "total blackout" in terms of revealing features or even photos of semi-finished products in FS addon scene. There are so many self-taught experts that will tell you that some window angle is plain wrong, even though you as a developer know it to be 110% correct. This is not the problem though. It's the fact that many others are reading those threads and actually believing that a mistake exists, where it in fact does not. It's of course exciting to see glimpses of the plane pre-relase, but it's a double-edged sword. As I am seeing total (almost) silence from the PMDG team in the past few days, I am fairly sure that there's still heavy work going on, making those tech team junkies happy. I know how it is, been a tech team junkie on another project, and it's not always easy to be picky. Everyone wants stuff to be released, but perfection or near perfection is not an easy road. It's a happy wait :).Tero

I actually haven't seen anyone ask for a release date in a while. Except on PMDG's facebook page which is a whole different world compared to this relatively civil forum.
