July 30, 201114 yr Actually, I know this is slightly off point but to respond to your post Nick, when a company puts a product on the world wide web in my opinion being "based in the US" is not a valid argument. By choosing to use the Internet you are invariably opening a can of worms regarding pricing. Producers can 'get around' the difficulties of global pricing by having products priced in ' Internet dollars' or some such exchange. Companies like Gamersgate employ a bonus points scheme that credits users - something like that could possibly work. (Just some random thoughts). There is another way of looking at this Ray, in NZ, we are quite fortunate that we don't pay any govt levies when we purchase items from overseas. Forgetting downloadable items for one moment, I recently purchased the PMDG Chief Pilots set, and a new Yoke and Pedals from the US. The yoke and pedals were $200 cheaper than buying in Australia. I did not have to pay any duty or clearence fees to recieve thiose items. In some countrys like Canada you have to pay a clearence fee ( Canadians, jump in here if I have that wrong) for such items. If I was to buy those items in NZ, if they were obtainable, I would pay a lot more. As you live in Akl, you would know that. So paying $80 NZD for the PMDG is cheap as chips for us, to what we would be charged if the product was local. Order some Computer parts from the US, and see how much cheaper it is than buying from your local computer store in downtown Auckland.
July 30, 201114 yr I think this thread is longer than the NGX video thread posted a few days ago. I have no idea why though. lmao I guess the pricing structure that PMDG announced is more newsworthy than the aircraft itself! Regards, Mike Mann Mike Mann
July 30, 201114 yr You think this thread is long... wait till the PMDG 737 is out ! I think this is all ridiculous actually and would bet that even some of the heavy cry babies will even end up buying it after all is said and done. Jim I think the forums are going to be dead. Everyone to busy flying it!!! I know I'm expecting VATSIM to be packed next weekend. Nick Running
July 30, 201114 yr You think this thread is long... wait till the PMDG 737 is out ! And it will be filled with signature ##### insisting that all threads are signed with full names and woe betide anyone who complains - PMDG are not ones to accept criticism as has been seen in the past. Still, I'll grab the popcorn and sit back and watch Scott
July 30, 201114 yr I think the pricing is very good actually. All the whingers probably bought Call of Duty without hesitation and it costs more. For me it always comes with a mandatory FS2Crew purchase. Can't fly without that. I care not about 6/7/8/900 and what comes when. I just fly the 800 always. And honeslty, who can tell the difference from a squeaky chair. July 30, 201114 yr I suspect that PMDG would find that quite insulting. To be honest, I wouldn't blame them either. Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

Still, I'll grab the popcorn and sit back and watch As long as that doesn't happen in here, if it does I just go in to lurk mode, my name doesn't go up on the internet without some sort of security present. Surely Avsim won't bow down to PMDG and allow that or have they now become so important to everyone that they dictate what happens, I thought that was only for their support forum

Surely Avsim won't bow down to PMDG and allow that or have they now become so important to everyone that they dictate what happens, I thought that was only for their support forum AVSIM has always been silent on this subject, but ultimately the PMDG forum is an AVSIM forum, and it is contrary to the rules on all other sections. I also believe forcing Full names violates AVSIM's own privacy policies. The one that say's "Protecting your privacy is a very important daily concern at AVSIM Online." Forcing one's full name on the open net is not protecting one's privacy. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d

Surely Avsim won't bow down to PMDG and allow that or have they now become so important to everyone that they dictate what happens, I thought that was only for their support forum This has been the rule here for a very long time now, has been discussed to death in the past, and no changes have come about. Avsim IS aware of this policy and is NOT going to change anything. Best you go back into lurk mode because any support type posts WILL require that you sign you FULL name. Don't worry, your IP address is common knowledge also, just by posting and I can tell you a bunch of stuff just from that. Much of your privacy was lost the day you were born.
July 31, 201114 yr Yeah you a correct, there is alot of info that can be gleaned these days, if someone realy wants your details it is there. As for support questions then fair call, their product so when you buy you buy knowing what comes with it. Still on the fence on this, price is fine just system specs is the deciding factor for me
July 31, 201114 yr Did any kind of (to be defined) legal education take place to form up statements like these? Don't worry, your IP address is common knowledge alsoIf that was the case and any poster's IP address would be open to any other poster, Avsim would indeed have to face a severe legal problem. If some admins would use their rights to do more than a non-personalized and e. g. fraud-protection based analysis of IP addresses the same would apply. Much of your privacy was lost the day you were born. The date of birth actually was the day where you received a privacy protection by law. And this law is not related to the Internet-age but to the development of a society and its legal standards. One of those, protecting personal data and its use. I suggest a simple Google search to get back on track on the knowledge side concerning legal aspects of privacy, while avoiding pithy statements like the ones quoted. They don't add much to a professional appearance in my eyes. This thread is about the outspoken thoughts of some users, regarding their future investments and the expected benefits of it. Every useful input welcome I think.
July 31, 201114 yr ...any support type posts WILL require that you sign you FULL name..... That's fine - if, and it is if at the moment, I purchase this add-on then I will have no problem in lodging a support ticket for each issue that I have. Scott
July 31, 201114 yr "1) When we initially announced this product line back in 2006, we anticipated that we would package the entire fleet together. Since 2009, this product line has grown MASSIVELY in scope and now includes significantly greater functionality than any product ever released for FSX. Not only did the product grow in scope but it also grew in functionality and quality (as evidence in the videos AOA has been putting out for you all!) so rather than charge one blisteringly high price, we decided to break the package into pieces in order that users can pick and choose the airplane types they are interested in flying. This will allow users to minimize their cost to suit their own tastes, and we think it allows us to provide the best value to simmers for our new product lines moving forward." I was just reading the pricing thread over in the PMDG forums. If I'm reading this right, this whole issue of Base pack + expansion packs is moot. It sounds like the intent is to allow you to purchase only the models you want. In which you'll pay the 70.00 (or 75.00 when the 600-700 is available.) for either package. Any pack purchased after the initial purchase will be at the lower price. The above wording doesn't make sense if you were forced to purchase the 800/900 before getting the 600/700. At least that's how I read it. Edit: After reading more of that thread, I'm confused, as it seems to contradict the above statement. The price is still fair even if it is as first assumed.
