I built a complete new rig below for $1700. Been using it for 3 months now with J41 and LVLD 767, Rex,Orbx and its great. Im getting 25-30Fps on average around heavy terrain and airports
Out of curiosity, why did you go with a 1st gen i7 3 months ago? Did you get a good deal? The new 1155 stuff is faster and can be cheaper. Mind you I had essentially the exact same setup before this signature rig.

Hi Zach,I went to my PC guys in Feb this year and they built it for me. So it's been a tad longer than 3 months. It is what was recommended to me at the time after i gave them a brief of my requirements. Ive never delved too deeply into building myself but is it simple enough to change to the new processor? Thanks for the input anyway.

My new rig just shipped today..... HP hqe seriesi7 960 quad-core 3.2 Ghz9 gigs of RAM1.5TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive1GB DDR3 AMD Radeon HD 6450 graphics card which I will probally change for a better one.Other stuff like 460 watt power supply, W7 64 bit, 23'' new moniter etc. I think it should run FSX much better them my 4-year old machine (which with alot of tweaks and a switch to 64 bit runs FSX quite nicely in fact). Total cost - $1200 04AUG!

Anybody into flight simming should build their own computer. Much cheaper and it's really easy.

Good going, I took City & Guilds English and Mathematics at Chester University when I was about 50. I was never any good at Mathematics at school but I guess having worked with computers and in Retail Distribution for so long (nearly 20 years) something must have stuck because I got very high marks, student of the month and had my photo taken for the Uni paper. As far as Geography goes, another poor subject, between G-Plan and FSX I`ve come on in leaps and bounds, though again some Retail Distribution helped. Whatever you end up doing just enjoy it, you worked hard and deserve it. Have fun and enjoy,

How much have I spent? Nothing yet...How much will I send? Way too much, probably.
