Interesting Info On NGX Frames

Featured Replies

Yes I know, the NGX will -hopefully- be in our hands soon, but there's plenty of discussion on what the frames will be like on the NGX. Of course, there's this idea that it will run on-par/better than the MD-11, but there's never been any solid confirmation from BETA testers and PMDG themselves. However, upon reading some of the comments on the Angle of Attack 737NGX staging area, there's some indication on what kind of frame rate we'll see on this bird. John Brian Sommers

I'm nervous this will tank my frames, here are my specs, will I be ok and be able to run it well?ASUS P6TD Deluxe LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel MotherboardEVGA 012-P3-1472-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) SuperClocked 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video CardIntel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80601930 - O/C to 4.1Ghz.CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB 10000 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare DriveWestern Digital Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare DriveCreative 70SB073A00000 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamerMicrosoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bitFSX w/sp2
And this was the reply from Chris Palmer:
You're going to do very well with it. It's not going to take your frames. You'll be really, really surprised at how optimized this thing is. It's just silky smooth. You have the system that can handle it. In fact, you have a system close to Nick's. Expect about 40-50 FPS with the NGX in heavy scenery and clouds.
I don't know what help this will be for you, but I'm hoping someone can relate to it! :)

Reassuring given those are nearly identical to my specs biggrin.png

That's great! Also about my specs. However, I would have expected it to run smooth so no big surprise there to be honest.

What about those of us without a 4 GHz i7 and 2000 MHz DDR3 ram? Will it still perform as well as the MD-11? I certainly hope so!

I also remember seeing a comparison to the J41on the forums somewhere which I have. It is somewhat demanding on my system, but very acceptable to enjoy for sure using the configuration manager to turn refresh rates at 66%. I heard that the NGX should run better due to all the optimizations like stated on AOA, so I am praying for smooth performance. I have a 3.02GHZ Core2Duo with 4Gigs ram. I made the huge mistake of buying an Imac which I run native windows 7 32bit on boot camp and have FSX tweaked so it runs pretty darn good overall. I can't upgrade anything for the most part....that was the huge mistake! Next rig is built from scratch in a large tower. Best regards, Jeff Moss

Well I have not upgraded my computer for about 3 1/2 years, so I am hoping that I will get some decent performance from my rig.Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8500ASUS P5Q Deluxe LGA 775 Intel P45 Intel Motherboard1x HDD WD Caviar Black SATA 750Gig 32meg cache2x HDD WD Caviar Black SATA 500Gig 32meg cacheThermaltake CL-P0401 110mm Fan CPU Cooler4 Gig OCZ Reaper memory 1066MhzOCZ GameXtreme 700 Watt PSUEVGA Nvidia GTX460 OC

I have a Windows Xp Pentium IV 2.8 Ghz forgot the rest but I have the PMDG MD-11 and it runs okay....so tell me.Will it run smooth or good or just okay. Thanks!!!!

I have a I7 920 @3.9Ghz with a ATI 4870X2 (1gb each) 6 gig ram. Not the latest system around but still very capable. I get good frames with the MD-11 and even the J41 with a huge amount of mods so I am not concerned about the NGX performance.

I've got a 3.4 ghz system myself, but I have an older ati 5870 I'm hoping that wont be too much trouble. Patrick Boynton
I have comparable hardware and with medium settings i get 80fps in the default 737-800 and 40-fps in the JS41. So I think it is just going to run okay.

I have one of the first Pentium's made a Pentium 60, with 256 RAM, will it run ok on my rig Hypnotized.gif -----------From what we have heard it will run around the same as the MD-11, so its down to how that runs on your rig, that's your bench mark what ever rig you have.

Been flying alot in the VC lately with different adds, and let me say... FSX is fluid even in and around 20s. So if the NGX gives me frames from the 20s and up even in the dense areas it will be great!
