August 8, 201114 yr I promise you if you are running an i7 processor with a 9800gtx your system you have a huge bottleneck and its the video card. Think of it like a huge hose with a kink in it. How do you get the full flow? Remove the kink ie video card. I have a gtx 580 and I can tell you its awesome and I highly recommend it with an i7 processor. I, like others here get smooth flight everywhere with the ******* tweaks. I hope I helped. Guthrie Z
August 8, 201114 yr Thanks for contributing.Sorry about that !! I honestly thought you were another troll just on here to knok PMDG.There were a few in the last couple of days. I understnd your frustration when it comes to hardware for flight simulation but it is not easy. The big consolation is that the real Boeing manuals alone would normally cost a coule of hundred euro.I think this is beyond any doubt the most incredible simulation of a 737ng to date. I work in a 12 million dolllar level D sim every day and this is almost as realistic !!!!!!!!! Frederic. Frederic Steiner.
August 8, 201114 yr I get 35 fps at gate 22 YMML with Orbx even 25-28 at YBBN Orbx Go sort you install out or your PCCalling PMDG liars is not going to help you in anyway David Murden. August 8, 201114 yr What PMDG aircraft work with X-Plane? Oh wait, none. Well that was in jest.Couple months ago I started working on my PPL and bought X-Plane, a couple Carenado AC, and some photoreal scenery. With all options maxed its just smooth as silk, no blurries, etc. This on a Phenom II X4 [email protected] with a 5870 card. Then last month I bought FSX and smoothness went out the window. It was a wakeup call that just like various versions of FX I've used in the past, a top end overclocked system was going to need to be built if I was to get the most out of FSX.For now the NGX runs OK with all traffic off, all autogen off, all clouds off, and visibility around 10-20 miles hehe. Not sure if I want to pop the 500.00 or so a 2600K, P or Z board, and ram just for the NGX, but it was worth it to me if nothing more than nostalgia to see how far things have come.I remember buying their 757 for Fly! back in the day and thinking how cool that was.Time fly's pun intended :) Chris S Chris Strobel KSNA
August 8, 201114 yr Look if you want to run the latest planes, you need a good system. I get > 100 fps with the 2D panel on the ground and in the air with the 737NGX and most sliders maxed out. The 3D cuts that fps in half though. You can try to clear the weather. The clouds really cut into the FPS. It runs better than the PDMG 747. So there is hope for all who want to upgrade. I work in a 12 million dolllar level D sim every day and this is almost as realistic !!!!!!!!! Frederic.I'm plenty stoked about this airplane. Working in aviation, it is an absolute thrill to get to sit down in the virtual cockpits that PMDG makes. Just honestly, getting it fired up at KSFO (my home airport), and seeing 8fps was a slap in the face. Maybe I wasn't ready to admit that my video card is crap. Honestly, I remember when the 9800gtx came out... it felt like the 200s came out the next week. The 9800s weren't around long before the new tech came around. Video ram being an issue makes sense, as I do notice it takes FSX a good while to actually load the textures in the VC. I'm left with a nice view of the VC model but the standard grey in lieu of textures. Now I just need to decide if the 580gtx is 2.5 times better than the 560, because that's what the price difference is. I hate to make these matters about money, but video cards are seriously expensive. Chris Virgilio
August 8, 201114 yr X-plane must have much better code but we all know the fsx code is lacking but we still luv this hobby and pay quite a bit to find the end of the rainbow, seems to be getting pretty close now wow just in time for msflight go figure, I think intel and nvidia should send christmas cards to them with money in them every year. August 8, 201114 yr I honestly can't understand how this product made it out of beta testing, with the supposed wide ranging beta team, with poor performance like this. How is it possible that they didn't comment on the fact that flying this in any sort of scenery or bad weather grinds the show to a halt? It is INCREDIBLY frustrating to know that in the 5 (thanks Heffron for correcting me). -Chris Virgilio - no its INCREDIBLY frustrating when you disrespect PMDG, and rather ridiculous. What will you gain by doing that? My NGX runs just under 30 FPS with with a bunch of well know add-ons running as well. Peter Osborn
August 8, 201114 yr Now I just need to decide if the 580gtx is 2.5 times better than the 560 good question pal you may want to do your homework on that, I think you would be much happier with the 580 and it will have a better shelf life, I also have had some lag out of ksfo payware, anyway go for the 580 Chris. Hi Pete: I think he didn't think that post title out very well, but seems it has become quite civil now and worked out, give him a brake, thanks Pete. Rich Sennett

August 8, 201114 yr Have you followed the performance instructions in the introduction? It seems 99% of people complaining about performance saw a significant increase after following the instructions that came with the product. These are also standard tweaks that should be applied to any FSX system. There are a couple of the '*******' tweaks that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. August 8, 201114 yr I'm on Q6600 @ 3.2, 4 gig of 800Mhz ram, 7200rpm hard drive and a 9800GTX+ with 512MB. So my rig is a few years old... I'm quite happy with the performance of my PMDG 737NGX.... Looking around with TrackIR no problems... Matt Webb
