October 16, 201114 yr I see some people have problems with keeping head still. Although I don´t have trackir, I think it is only matter of settings...curves, smoothnes etc. I have freetrack (freeware alternative) with a baseball hat and 3 IR leds (cca 5€ the whole build) plus a camera for about 20€. This is a good solution for those that don´t want to spend money...and it doesn´t have the problem with sunlight (if not too bright, and even then I only set different threshold on the camera)Exactly, by setting up TIR curves you will find the correct sensibility for your head movement and for clicking on panels without a moving view (or only little movements) Regards Andrea Daviero
October 17, 201114 yr I have been trying to use EZDOK and Trk-IR5 and have been having nothing but trouble. I can get it working, but usually when I load FSX another day they are not working again. Sometimes it will be working and I get what appears to be a keyboard lockup. The flight will pause and I can't unpause with the keyboard. I have to go up to the menu to unpause. In checking the above comments I notice that all of the positive users have Nvidia GPU cards. I use an ATI HD 5850. I had initially tried the Nvidia but found the ATI was smoother and slightly better FPS. I have a high end system with a i7 980x, 6GB ram. I am curious as to whether the ATI card may be causing some of the problems. Would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks in advance. Tom HibbenHey Tom. You are not alone. I am a fairly recent user of TrackIr5 to compliment my EzDok and sometimes get the same thing happening. I usually just minimize FSX and restart IR5 and then everything works again. I am still looking for the cause and am sure this is not a common problem as i don't see many posts about this on the forums.Having said that, i absolutely love both features and wouldn't fly without them.Regards, Edit: Actually on rereading your post, i should say my FSX doesn't lock up, just TR5 & EzDok. October 17, 201114 yr @THibben My TrackIR5 (5.0.300 (Build 6225)) works perfectly fine with EZCA (1.17) despite using an ATI card (4870). I don't know what kind of an impact the graphics card could have on the functionality of TrackIR, since the graphics card isn't involved in the whole TracKIR system.
October 17, 201114 yr Rick, Thanks for the reply. My FSX doesn't lock up, just EZDOK or Trk-IR. I also notice you are using a Nvidia GPU so that blows my theory that it may be caused by problems with ATI cards.I contacted Natural Point and they said they will try and contact EZDOK to see if they can figure it out. It is great when it works. Thanks again, Tom

October 17, 201114 yr Funny your reading this post Jigsaw, cause i was talking about on my post not to far above this one. At first I didn't know what you meant but then I found your posting. I'm glad that you like my videos! The TrackIR 5 settings that I use aren't too special. They are basically the default One:One template with a couple of minor tweaks. The good thing about the One:One template is that it doesn't have a deadzone that makes the view snap forward, which I would find highly annoying. I want to pan through my cockpit smoothly without having my head forced into a position. I then raised the rotation speed of the curve to 6 (default 1), left the Motion Control Speed slider at 1 and increased the Smooth slider to 100. That's it. Works perfectly for me.
October 18, 201114 yr Good i'll try it and i still say you should be working for Spieburg! Louis Massicotte Caroline Alberta

October 18, 201114 yr i have downloaded that file but i cant open the d3d9 DLL FILE joe broadman ???? Wrong post? I'm confused... if you're talking about the profiles, you don't open anything. October 18, 201114 yr If you get any solutions from them, i'd appreciate it if you could post it.Regards, Rick, I got a note back today. EZDOK claim they are aware of the problem but feel it is caused by the improper installation of EZDOK. I know I have tried to follow their installation instructions to the letter. I re-installed every thing again last night but I really haven't had a chance to make several flights over a period of days. Hopefully V2.0 will be a little more user friendly when it comes to installation and setup. Tom
October 18, 201114 yr with so much being said about the virtual cockpit, does the track IR 5 work well with the ngx?? other wise it would pain to naviagate around the virtual cockpit, pressing buttons and trying to zoom in! and with that i take every botton and switch works in the virtual cockpit? Joe BroadmanI don't know how I ever went without it! V2.0 has been coming for a while, but i guess overall what we've got with EzDok at the moment is pretty amazing for the price. Rick Hobbs
October 18, 201114 yr Thanks kenneth, why not just use the space bar held down and mouse to zoom in and out and around..Whilst i am always looking ahead at the screen?james. You seem to have gotten confused, Your still looking at your screen but your head movement is magnified greatly. So you move your head an inch and the view in the screen moves 36inches. it's all rather intuitive and when I bought mine I would say aftre about half an hour of use I was fully comfortable with wearing it. To be able to taxi out to the runway and look down the runway length whilst still rolling forward is simply stunning. As you turn onto the runway your head automatically comes back to cnter. It is a very natural behaviour. Think of itthis way, your driving your car down the road and your gonna make a right hand turn, You dont keep your head looking staright ahead do you.You tend to look around the corner, you also lean your head into the corner as well. It all happens at a subconcious level. You don't think about this action it just happens. Using trackir the same thing will happen. As I say with me it took about a half an hour for me to feel comfortable. The ability to look out of the window whilst flying VFR and to navigate by roads etc is exhilrating or waiting at the hold and checking to see if approach is clear is pure magic For those of you thinking of buying one. I would getthe clip pro model, bright lights dont bother it and your head doesntget all hot and sweaty as it does when wearing abaseball cap. Only problem is you need a headset but as I fly online all the time on VATSIM that isnt a problem for me. Final thing and the only thing i will say is zooming in and out onto click spost can be difficult and takes some practice, you will be amazed at how much your head mocves about.. Wycliffe
