X-plane 10 demo is out...

Featured Replies

The Xplane world is so dull and fake looking.... Never EVER will I switch to that clunky peice of software.... MS Sims are FAR more realistic. I am a student pilot and with addon aircraft, handling is much better than Xplane ever will be.
So you are not able to respond to my post. Do FS2000 looked like that? Do not make unfounded claims please.Marco

Ben,Yesterday, a couple of XP diehards had exactly the same behaviour as yours right now except that they were bashing FSX and its users. The thread was closed and a guy was banned.Want to see the same thing happen here ?

KInd regards

That "complex UI" this always made me chuckle too, people will read 500 pages of a PMDG manual, but not fiddle with the UI until it gives them what they want?Any FSX flight simmer who gets into the hobby has learned any one of these:NickN's install guideConfig TweaksHow to install planes and scenery (payware and freeware)Maybe how to read approach chartsHow to build and overclock computers(I did anyway)fixing panel configs for a triplehead monitorand a bunch of other things.I could go on and on, but the truth is that we've all put a ton of time into learning things to make out hobby better for US.The Xplane UI is really not that bad(not that good either), but I mean if you can learn how to make an ILS approach in a 747, I think you can learn how to set up your Joystick in Xplane. For myself, looking at both sims, I think the time that I spent tweaking FSX to get better performance and stability was replaced with time I spent converting or making sceneries in Xplane so I wouldn't have to land at barren airports.

If the discussion leads us to make pressure on all developers, as a community of flight simmers that are never tired of wanting the limtis to be pushed, then fine with me. On the other hand I just watched some PREPAR3D-videos on youtube in order to figure out what I am missing. After that, I am not sure anymore that benorg was serious in the first place. But whatever, as I say: We want the limits to be pushed, either in Flight, Lockheads Sim, X-Plane or any other candidate that might enter the ring. We should be able to agree on that.

A student pilot making informed decisions about flight models. Ok. Sure, why not.I'm sure you downloaded XP10 and gave it a thorough testing with the various payware and freeware before you came to your conclusion.

I have used MSFS since I was about 8 yrs old... I have loved it, and still do. Xplane 10 >> This however is an incredible experience. Actual 3D clouds :: A flight model that if you crank the wind to 200 knotts, will actually lift the plane off the ground. X-Plane is a wonderful experience. Have a look at these clouds: I find myself playing with fsx less and less. it no longer feels real...xpx3.jpg

great screenshot! haven't configured my demo version that nice (yet) :)

I will admit to being very disappointed in XP10 as I had sincerely hoped it would be something I could really latch onto. However, from what I have seen in pictures, and after downloading and trying the demo, it seems to me to be rather peculiar and in many respects almost as primitive as XP9. However I wish it well, and will see what the distant future holds that might recapture my interest.Kind regards,

LOL I was just thinking the same thing.I suspect all these FS9 vs FSX vs Xplane vs P3d Vs MS Flight battles really boil down to people thinking "I have put too much time and money into this, I MUST defend it, rationality be damned"

Alain my old friend, what are you ranting and raging about? So does this mean you love FSX, or Flight, or Prepar3D or XP10 or what? Not disagreeing with you, I might if I could, but I can't, because I don't know what to disagree about? Good to see you active in these here parts though. Hug.gif Kind regards,
