Firstly, the author didn't trash FSX.All serious flight sim users have read PC Pilot or Computer Pilot at least a few times in their simming life. Those magazines promote FSX and it's add ons ad nauseam. I don't know of any x plane user voicing their disappointment over it. I see X Plane users disappointed there isn't more coverage of x plane, but other than that, there is no malice held towards the pro fsx reviewers. Fair enough - though I have to say that when PC Pilot does cover X-Plane, it's effective. The recent interview with Austin (was it last summer?) gave me my first look at the night lighting and got me interested. That continues to be one of X-Plane's strong points at this early stage. So even if the coverage isn't in the high volume that you'd like, it is reaching FSX users and getting some traction.I guess my point was more about Simmo's header. If he'd said, "here's an interesting article about a new professional X-Plane application," I wouldn't have objected. It was the emphasis on the "hyperrealistic flight model" that got me - only because, as noted, I can't see that the reviewer is qualified to judge the flight model. Maybe he is - for all we know, he could be a licensed pilot with advanced certificates. It's just that that isn't mentioned anywhere, and you'd think it would be. So I don't think the hyperrealistic flight model is really the issue here, and it was sort of contentious to call that out. Beyond that, it's an interesting piece and I'd be up for hearing more about this application.

No, it would not be an invitation to say it is crap, garbage and rubbish. Crap has been used 7 times in this thread. Garbage has been used 4 times and rubbish has been used 3 times. BTW, they have all been used by you in your posts as examples of what other people have said in this thread but no one has said it? I will say it again, no bashing going on but you really can't say this is a good review and hold up those phrases like 'hyperrealistic' as if they have any credit from that source.

I couldnt find anyone calling it those things except for you making up sentences that included those phrases. I am not defending anyone but responding to posts that I think are relevant to what I have been saying.

It's a nice little feature article.The author has also written about Star Wars Galaxies, Ghost Recon Online, and the top five RPG Maker games.I'd be more interested to hear what Flying magazine or AOPA Pilot has to say about this system. And I'll be glad to read more about X-Plane in PC Pilot, or in the formal reviews on Avsim. If, say, Chris Frishmuth has anything to say about it at Sim HQ, I'd pay attention to that, too.Real coverage by qualified people, please.

I quite enjoy Chris Frishmuth's writing. Pretty good reviews and especially his features detailing personal real world flights to try in sims. Not to mention he equally covers XP, FSX, and various combat sims.SimHQ is a great site and has been for years; however, somewhat more tuned to the blowing up of things versus the "flying people/frieght while not pulling 6g's" sedate civilians :( .**edit**Oh looky another degenerating thread. Well, some people here don't have anything nice to say about FSX and I don't see a lot of people praising and defending default FSX in FSX forums either. There is a lot of nice things said about various addons but really not much about FSX out of the box. I got impression here that because it's Xplane forum you should not say bad things about Xplane at all or you are automatically favouring FSX. Comparing the two is even worse.Isn't a normal thing that some things are better in one and some in other?
