January 8, 201214 yr I have been reading about people developing new buildings for XP.. Reading about how everything can be expanded on and customized.. Where do you see XP in a year??I would imagine the scenery complexity will have grown amazingly.. Not just buildings but the ability for roads to follow the terrain easier.. May also be neat if trains were modeled.. Even just static, populate rail yards.. I am also sure the ATC system and traffic management will have been improved on as well.. I have yet to pick up XP10, but it really is looking more and more enticing..
January 9, 201214 yr I think that X-Plane 10 won't do anthing but go up. I had to go to Win 64 bit last night had been running in 32 bit, which seemed to me to be an improvement in visibility right there. Could be my imiganation, but improved the frame rates too. January 9, 201214 yr wolfman,I'm not certain about this, but I think trains are already modeled. I know in the Seattle area, around Boeing Field I have a video where you can see railway cars.I think X-Plane is the simulator of choice for the comming years. This simulator has soooo much potential and all it needs is some TLC from it's devs and a little patience from it's users. The weather system is fantastic, clouds are the most realistic ever seen in a consumer-based sim. When the art assets are finalized and in-game, the scenery aspect will be unsurpassed. The competition hasen't got a prayer. If PMDG brings but only one of their offerings to X-Plane, watch it take off. However, before any of this can happen, Laminar has to get going and updates need to come at a steady pace, with noticeable improvements with every new beta release.A lot of people are skeptical, I guess they're afraid of new tech that would have them change old, outdated habits, not to mention having to leave behind a ton of addons they enjoy. Who says you cant't have your cake and eat it too? Keep both sims! :(
January 9, 201214 yr I hope they take a lot of the green out of the cities. I think that is the major thing that is making the sim seem unrealistic. Put a lot of brownish grey into the cityscape and things will look more realistic. Actually there is quite a lot of buildings and such in the cities now, just not noticible for all of the countrified colors. Out of town away from civilization, things look good. Takd the green out of the towns. Donald E. Donovan Flying is the 2nd greatest thrill known to man The 1st is landing.
January 9, 201214 yr Commercial Member I predict many, many, many airports will be populated in a fairly accurate way with the community's involvement with the upcoming WED tool. In addition, I can see many members of the community creating landmark buildings and other objects to populate cities. I think Laminar will upgrade the current trees, and either Laminar or the community, or both will create more diverse autogen house structures. This platform has a lot more room to grow than I think a lot of people realize. As soon as some of these pieces start getting put together, and the platform is stabilized, that is when I think momentum will start to advance in a quick way. January 9, 201214 yr Yep, trains are already modelled. There are even moving passenger trains, though I think they move too slow . And I concur with the rest of you. I can only see XP10 going up. It's only been a month, and there are already heaps of stuff over at the org. So in a years time, I'm sure the scenery will have been improved immensely. One thing I don't quite get regarding most people's take on XP10's "plausible" world is according to them, the plausible world is not realistic at all, yet in FS2004/FSX, the default autogen (which is also only plausible), is a lot more releastic? Sure, the landclass is more accurate in the default MSFS and it contains some real world landmarks/buildings, but the actual autogen/cities are still only an approximation (hence, "plausible"), right? And I've mainly only used the MSFS series in the past. But hey, lets not go there. Lets just say that given the choice between accurate buildings vs accurate roads, I'd take accurate roads anyday since they're much harder to implement, and any buildings you do get into XP10 will look more natural because of the accurate roads. Ok, end of "rant". @wb5okj, I agree that the cities are overall too green. Grey would make them look a lot more releastic. January 9, 201214 yr We do need to get populated with notable landmarks eventually but right now flying VFR you can pretty well navigate anywhere using the roads, railways and lakes rivers etc. The cities and towns also need some TLC but I feel quite sure that this will come.
January 9, 201214 yr I predict that the textures and autogen will improve. And probably a 64 bit build probably some time next year.

January 9, 201214 yr Xp-11No, I don't think so. The data is in place (in the DSFs you get with the Global Scenery) ... "only" the rendering technology is missing :( Andras Fabian / Alpilotx Visit www.alpilotx.net, a site about X-plane scenery You can see some landscape and other photographs from me here: http://www.flickr.co...s/weathermaker/
January 9, 201214 yr Things that will happen:64bit SupportPMDG ReleasesA steady increase of pilots from Vatsim migrating to XPX as FSX grinds to a halt.More and more Third Party releases that take full advantage of the Sandbox that is Xplane.Unless MS pulls something out of a hat, I suspect you'll see XPX become THE standard in Flight Simulation over the coming year. Big Sigs with PC Specs are just another way for men to Compensate.
January 9, 201214 yr May also be neat if trains were modeled.. "All you need is just a little patience" - lol. Finally saw one:http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php/topic/2741-moving-trains/page__view__findpost__p__30792 * 2010 MacPro, 27' display * Snow Leopard * XP10 *

Takd the green out of the towns. My first attempt a more city-like texture:I have yet to get my grip on some undocumented parameters, but from what I see texture compositing is very powerful in XP10.I'll try to go with Austin's concept: no buildings that appear flat on the ground. With one big difference however: cities are not built on grass ! I know for a fact that anyone building a house removes all grass before ! :( (Pun intended !)Whatever, we can still draw parks, parking lots, small roads, places, small objects...let's see how this evolvesPascal
