B777 - Virtual cockpit only / no 2D panel?

Featured Replies

That doesnt make any sense, but it doesnt matter. My suggestion was not a serious one, it was simply a way for 2d haters to see how ridiculously selfish their requests for no 2d panel is. Why would anybody, as a VC only user, care if there's a 2d panel or not. Seriously.Dont you 2d haters know that you will go to hell for hoping for this? Pure evil
it's just a 2D panel...you can adapt

I fly VC in many planes, I got EZCA etc. I prefer 2D tho, it makes it far easier to handle the workload. We are after all flying a multi crew plane as a single pilot. I fly online only, so I cant pause my flight or spend a bunch of time tuning in a radio frequency or simply ignore ATC instructions etc. I have to respond to ATC in a timely fashion, and the 2d panel allows me to do that, far better than what the VC does, even with EZCA

Totally agree the thing of Easier to use, and one more - Less resources required.I don't wanna change my view with Space Bar + Mouse and center again when I'm busy.I just wanna see CDU with Shift+3. It's way more comfortable. And I would fly 2D panel with 30fps rather than 3D panel with 10fps.

if you fly online only, then you can use the FSINN radio bars that you can put on the edge of your screen. even faster then a 2D paneland FSINN is free

PMDG already said the 777 will have a pop up 2D CDU panel.if you get 10fps in the NGX VC, your machine is a little old. i can understand where PMDG is coming from; they can't focus their addons for customers that don't upgrade hardwareanyway good luck changing their mind, i think it's made up at this point

Dear BMW,Please make a model of car that uses low grade, instead of high test gas. I don't like paying for high test, so I'd like the option to use low grade. There are many people like me who'd prefer to use low grade as well, so it's more than just me, too.

Is their a thread where PMDG has confirmed this? An annoucement??I have gotten more used to using the 3D in the NGX it is great. BUT I still enjoy 2D panels a lot especially for pre-flight. It is much much easier. I don't have a huge moniter, (26in) I have a fairly new system i7-930 with a 5870HD. But landing in MIA VFR with a decent amount of traffic I can get down to 10-12fps or down to that in LHR or JFK. It is nice to have the option to use the 2D. It is so much easier to click and especially for the overhead and radio stacks. Especially for something like pre-flight when you want to check many different systems. If this is true this is a huge disapointment for me. I have not purchased many add-ons because they did not have 2D panels. I expect the 777 to be a full scale, full price add on, to me, from PMDG that means 2D panels. I know times are changing and who knows by the time the 777 comes out I may have a new Video Card or a new computer. But I am not someone who is going to by track IR and wear a hat when on flight sim. Will I still buy the 777? Likely. Will I get used to using 3D more? Yes. But will I be disapointed with this decision? Yes for sure, and flying in FS just wont be the same.CDU needs a popup and hopefully the radio stack and some panels that are hidden, such as maybe some panel which is only on the FO Side. I would also prefer a Overhead popup but that wont happen I am sure. That is what bothers methe most I think. The overhead in the 3D is far from realistic and far from being easy to use like a 2D one. Hopefully PMDG will make this a 3D cockpit which none of us have ever seen before. Which from them would not be a surprise. But if we want to talk about realism, being able to easily see the panels without doing much and being able to easily read and switch (click) switches is realistic and that is what the 2D panel offers.

Steven Herzberg,

"I rather be flying"

Hello Pmdg, and all of you other forum lurkers,if this "no 2d" thing is true, then i'll have to think hard and long about it. My trusty old P$$ Triple 7 has served me quite well for years and hundreds of great flights, but I'm sure will not it hold a remote candle to a PMDG offering, but I can't stand the 3D cockpits, have never figured out how to smoothly use them to fly. With literally thousands of hours of FS flying, I have avoided the 3d stuff like the plague. I am an old dog, and I don't really want new tricks.o well, call me silly, but i would really appreciate the option, like I have with the awesome NGX, MD11, 747 and everything else I "fly"Thanks for listeningPaul BenoitKBOS/KOWD

Though my opinion doesn't count for much, I must say I don't like the idea of no more 2D panels. I know I am in the minority, but I just don't like flying VC. I find I can get much more info, faster from 2D panels especially during pre-flight. It is much easier for me to manuever rather than using space + mouse and assigning a bunch of key combos for view points of the various panels. I would be willing to pay 2x the price just to have the option. It sadly seems not many of us fly 2D anymore. VC is just too cumbersome for this guy not to mention it's a hit on frame rates. I have tried TrackIR and still not a fan. Purchasing the T7 is still an absolute, as it's my fav ac of all time, plus PMDG is my fav developer. I will just have to get used to it and figure something out. Just bummed :(

It gets posted every time a new aircraft comes out. We have the same discussion...every...time...

EZCA is all you need to totaly make the 2D system a throwback from the past. You can set it up so that you instantly go to a panel view with all Movement effects removed and then back to the Captains/FO view with no more button presses than a 2D panel would need to do the same thing. You can even set up EZCA to use the exact same key presses as you used on the 2D panels. It is flexible and works with every single aircraft in FSX. While its true that the performance of a 2D panel, is generaly better with a cutting edge aircraft like the NGX etc its a good idea to have a pretty fast PC to start with to best effect. Most Mid range PCs should have little trouble getting 30Fps even with addon scenery.

And the tendency is to get even worse. The NGX is out, stable, most of us are happy with it. There isn't much to demand for it, other than the SP1c and the ER, which are under way. So it's time to move on to the next project, which is the 777. We'll see more and more people asking, demanding and whining about the 777 in a growing rate, until it's released and stable. Then, people will move on to the Dash-8.Since the 777 won't have 2D panels, I forsee many topic about why PMDG chose not to do 2D panels anymore, to the point where the mods will start locking or deleting any related topic. As for the Dash-8, I bet most of the topics will be about why a Dash-8, since, in their minds, people don't want turboprops at all. Questions will be mostly "Why the Dash-8? Why not this or that airplane???" Unfortunately, this is the reality in this forum.

Dear Mr. Rodgers,we express our gratitude concerning your advisory opinion. As a business companywith a high grade of tradition, we got the idea humankind is stillneeding cars using low grade or at least appreciates the option. We all know high test gas would distort when hanging around in your car.Furthermore it uses more resources then needful, even though you have already thecomfort-package called "EZDOK". Finally, we don't know why, but you canexpect a field-of-view and the necessary details you willnever have with htg.At all times BMW did everything to achieve highest customer satisfaction, soexpect low grade in every of our car-series as an option.Best regardsJenny Doe ^_^Make-A-Wish-DepartmentBayerische Motörhead Werke AG80XYZ EDDMG E R M A N Y
