Not a rumour, no full 2D panel. 2D popups will still be available like the FMGS to drag onto other screens so thats more then enough for me. The subject of 2D vs VC has been done to death. I can't even remember the last time I used a 2D cockpit except for the popups.

Same here.. Before the NGX was released, i always flew with 2d-panel, but the NGX changed everything :D I can´t imagine that i will fly in 2d-panels again :D

"Not a rumour, no full 2D panel"That's too bad...there are a lot of 2D die hards out there.-1.

But not enough of them to generate sufficient market force to convince developers to produce 2D panels. This is evident by the majority of recently released products having no 2D panel.

"not enough of them to generate sufficient market force to convince developers to produce 2D panels"The only 'developer' I am aware of who has suggested they will no longer produce 2D panels is PMDG. FeelThere, LDS, CS, FSLabs...all are planning to continue with 2D and 3D. I am sure you are right, indeed there are other companies not planning to do any more 2D - but I suggest they are the minority. It's nice to have the option to use 2D or 3D, especially if you are 'getting by' with a single 19" monitor, low res VC, and no TrakIR like many of us are. By the time I move the viewpoint around to the area of the panel I need, zoom in, grab the mouse, focus on the gauge / switch, then click the button...it makes it difficult to do things as quickly as can be done on the 2D in my opinion.Rob Hall.

This is exactly my problem but I think with a few choice key assignments (like eg. to engage the autopilot) and learning how to create a custom view with a custom zoom and assign it so that I can snap to a foward view, I think I should be ok.Since I know now that the 777 will not have a 2D, I'm trying to get rid of all the 3D view gremlins now.

Doesn't bother me; I use 3D w/pop-ups full time and have been for the last couple of years, so no loss.

CS's 777 will not have a 2D panel as well. I was a 2D panel lover, and the NGX did change the way i look at panels, i now use mostly 3D but still think 2D panels should be produced for those that need or enjoy using them.

Captain Sim did not include 2D panels in the 727, 707, B52, and will not be in the 737 or 777. A2A, IRIS, Carenado, VRS, and other developers have also released aircraft with no 2D panels, and I know there are others. I understand though that some people like 2D, but the trend seems to be a movement away from them. In my experience, TrackIR and EZDok make the VC experience so good that it is worth spending the money if you can afford it. Even with EZDok alone, the quick key camera viewpoints make the VC really nice to use without TrackIR, especially for those individuals who don't like TrackIR.

True...I recently bought EZDok and I can't figure out how I managed to live without it. Fantastic.

only people i can see having an issue with this are the ones who build sim pits using multiple monitors and placing 2d panels on each to build a 3D cockpit while keeping the views out the windows on separate screensif you use 1 monitor though, VC is so much easier to fly with now that we have many camera tools and addons to help

I only use the 2-D on the LDS 767 and PMDG 747 when I'm being Vectored in for an approach when flying on Vatsim as I don't use any track IR's or anything there can be stuff that I need to do quick and the 2-D Panel makes it a little easier as everything is in one place, if anyone gets what I mean? But apart from that I fly in the VC, use the FMC and Overhead Pop Up that's about it.
