v5 still in development?

Featured Replies

There is no 'they'. JD is the developer and I am a member of the beta team. We have a moral duty not to disclose any information. Only JD can tell you about v5 development, sorry.
So what happened to Doug Thompson?

So what happened to Doug Thompson?
I really don't know Jeff. He hasn't communicated with the group for a very long time. JD was the sole programmer; Doug (amongst others) provided ATC expertise.

Thanks Ray. There have been so many people in this hobby that just disappeared without a trace.

Maybe he had a meeting with the 'Men In Black'......maybe he knew too much.......

Possibly Graham. I would venture to say that Flightsim just got old to him and moved on to something else.

I don't know why someone just can't say if it's on or off, I mean the only reason we know about version 5 is because we were told by the developer it was being created. Nobody asked, Im happy with version 4 and if that is as far as it goes then fine. Lets just get this speculation over with.

It would be nice if the developer would spend 5 minutes to post an announcement that V5 is not going to be developed however V4 will continue to be supported (or maybe not, whatever...) at least it would be over with and it opens the door for someone else to develop a software that is more current but basically a new and more improved Radar Contact like product. The reality is nobody wants to compete with Radar Contact so no one is going to start development with a new kinda software with the possibility that Radar Contact V5 could be released in the future even though most of us would say they are 99% sure V5 will never land a single airplane. But who would spend that much time and money to develop their own version with this mess hanging around the past couple of years..thats right..years!!. There is no clear answer (or maybe there is ::cough::years::cough) and its very frustrating. Create an issue thread about V4 and eventually the developer will chime in. Post a thread about V5 and he is no where to be found. Its very comical actually considering this thread and others of the like get all these replies however not a single reply is from the person everyone wants to hear from.

Have you ever had to reinstall RC ? I have done this a couple of times, like when I upgraded to new computer. I had to send a email to RC to obtain a access code. IF RC is no longer being supported, will we be able to reinstall it?jim

What does a question about a future version of RC have to do with a past version being supported?

There is a backup staff member that can generate registration codes if need be. That contact can be made public when needed or the key generator can be sent to others as decided by jd if needed. If an e-mail address, user name, or a quite a few auto requests for new keys has exceeded a threshold then keys would need to be generated automatically.

What does a question about a future version of RC have to do with a past version being supported?
Because numerous times in this hobby, developers have stopped development and then flown off never to be heard from again. Not saying JD would do that but it has happened and is a valid question.

So in a Windows 8 thread you would ask Microsoft if Windows 7 is still supported?
