June 20, 201213 yr In my case i'm waiting on the voice recognition to be released by Pro ATC X then making the switch. I realy like Radar Contact and have been using it for years but Pro ATC X along with the voice recognition will be simply awsome! Looks like the developper is very active and it will be an evolving software so he totally got my attention. Dont get me wrong, I love RC but it dosent seem like it will be evolving any time soon. June 20, 201213 yr Thats a pitty. Other ATC applications working with FS9 around? Time to move on from FS9 Nothing wrong with updated hardware to properly handle FSX Dont expect anything new for FS9, ever...
June 20, 201213 yr Dont expect anything new for FS9, ever... Hello Strange comment, considering that new payware is still being released FS9, sometimes even before the FSX versions. http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=qw146
June 21, 201213 yr Why there is no official denial about RC5 from JD? This is very strange and people honestly think this project has gone and definityl abandoned, further after 5 years. It's a shame! I hope to be wrong, but until now no one denial. RC was the state of the art ( a part from voice and sid/ star management) and all we hoped v5 brings major new features, like new voice, taxi instruction, sid and stars. But now ProATCX seems to be the new one, a bit immature, but very promising. June 21, 201213 yr Hello The most frustrating aspect of this is that JD is active in the forum answering support questions about V4, so he MUST be aware of this thread. But still no comment on the status of V5 from JD, therefore I can only conclude that V5 is a long way from being ready for release, I now get the feeling that we will never see it released and a lucky group of Beta testers are the only ones that will ever get to use it. Just a simple statement could end all of this speculation, meanwhile other options are coming to market yet JD seems not to care one way or another.
June 21, 201213 yr Hi. I suppose if beta testing is underway (we know that is the case) then a release is inevitable. The lack of timescale is a frustration... but not nearly as much of a frustration as being unable to do a forum search for "v5" as the term has one character too few. The foregoing comment was prompted by my failure to cull a series of references to the progress of v5. However, in the last six months I've found enough information in this forum to have what I feel is a good guess at the state of v5's development. For beta testing to be underway there must be a fully functional core to the software along with numerous subsections and, given that the change is a major one from from version 4.x.x to version 5.x.x, the software must have been extensively rewritten. I have difficulty believing that so much initial work, followed by so much testing, would result in a failure to complete the project or to release the new version so I'll carry on happily with 4.3 and be glad when I have the opportunity to buy the new. Cheers, D
June 21, 201213 yr Time to move on from FS9 Nothing wrong with updated hardware to properly handle FSX Dont expect anything new for FS9, ever... MsFS is dead(note, FSX is old fs too). "X" have sacral symbol- it is symbol of ending, it is "symbol" of death... Perhaps we need at another fs, which much better then all eldests? Is need develop any msfs additions?
June 21, 201213 yr I'm using proflight emulator deluxe but what I'm missing there is the functions to react to ATC like press 1. for ATC 2.contact delivery etc. I'm only hear ATC but no displaying text in the little popup screen like RC. Someone knows how I can display text and commands on there? And I'm flying from Rotterdam (The Netherlands) to Brussel (Belgium) yesterday but in Brussel airspace I must contact to Oslo (Norway) center? Someone know how to fix that?

Multi Crew Experience links into radar contact and provides voice recognition. It works very well using proper phraseology. V5 is is on hold for 12 months. December 18, 201213 yr Ah, but silence speaks volumes! Personally, I'm not interested in v5 because I'm so disappointed with v4 --- the robot voice delivery, multiple back-to-back heading changes of 5 degrees (with no pause in between), "descend to 4,000" when you are level at your assigned 3,000, etc. Never thought I'd go back to the fs atc, but as a real-world instrument pilot, I can tell you that it's a lot more realistic than RC.
December 18, 201213 yr I'm using Pro ATC now. Rc4 uninstalled. Its quite functional and holds great promise. The big things is its active ongoing development. Any issues are usually dealt with in the next few updates based on priority. Not perfect by any means but great alternative now. December 18, 201213 yr It would be nice to get a hold of the source code. I know that will never happen but then at least developers that do have time could continue on and fix/improve the product from what it is now. I actually do use RCv4 now but, like has been said here many times, it has its problems too. With the NGX, OpusFSX, Photoreal scenery and the excellent 3rd party airport scenery out there, we are just a good ATC product away from making FSX "complete" and truly "As real as it gets". To me, ATC is the last frontier in getting a very real experience across the board. Hopefully ProATC will be the answer here but it's still too far off yet from what I've read. I'm using RC4 with the commercial addon voice packs (flightsim voices, i think it's called). Really lifts the quality of the package. JD's still providing tech support, he emailed me a replacement key last week. If he's stopped developing for a year I'm pretty sure 'real life' has intervened. I'm disappointed the RC5 may not come, but I wouldn't call his decision arrogance - that sounds way harsh. If you haven't tried the flightsim voices pack - consider googling it and buying the US flightcrew pack. One of my favourite addons, at a minimal cost, may give your RC4 flying a bit more milage. December 18, 201213 yr Beginning July 1st, I will be temporarily suspending my coding efforts on version 5, for 12 months, due to personal reasons. I will continue to fulfill my duties as tech support, and key generation. I will continue to respond to posts on the forum. I appreciate all of your support and kindness over the last decade, and i consider all of you my friends. This decision was difficult for me, and i reached it after careful consideration during the past weekend, which i was able to spend, alone with my wife. After this period, it will be crystal clear where I will go with rc and version 5. Thanks again for all you've done for me, my family and rc. thanks jd Quoted from topic: version 5, temporary suspension of coding Give him some space.
