Hi, the PMDG 737NG is a whole generation younger and in its 1.2 version close to bug free, I

If you can stretch to it try and get both!, they are both great to fly :)

You will get responses from people recommending either aircraft. Your best bet is to visit the forums of each and make your decision based on the comments and support provided. Please do remember though that the PSS forum is moderated - as in all posts are reviewed by moderators before they are posted. PMDG seems not to have a need of this level of control.--qnh

I have both, and they are both good birds.Ask yourself one question, do you want totally auto flight or not?.If you do then go for the bus, if not go for the 737, the A320 lends itself to fully automatic flight, where as you can get more "hands on" with the 737.Dan

I'd say PMDG is definitely more pleasure to fly, and PSS is little better looking, especially the new 330 and 340. A320 is a little older, but also flies nicely. If you are considering either or, then definitely PMDG.

I purchased the PMDG 737NG and the B1900D!! I will not look back...Two of the best addon purchases (for the money) I have ever bought, bar non. I do have the PSS Dash 8 (nice to fly mind you), but that's it for me as far as PSS goes. PMDG are also in a totally different class by themselves as far as customer support goes. I've never been happier with them. Also, with PMDG coming out twith the B737-800/900 there will be no need for me to purchase any Airbus as the specs for the 800/900 are very similar. So, I'll be using the 800 or 900 to fly all my airbus routes anyway. There are also numerous advances and upgrades being made to the PMDG 737 panel which I believe will be useable with the 600 and 700 aircraft as well.Regards,Tom Stewart

Hello,I have a little different slant on these addons:I have both and I agree with most of what I have read here. I will add that I would rather have the PMDG products because they tend to work with more equipment that I have. While the PSS is a fine addon, it does not really work with my Project Magenta modules or my GOFLIGHT setup. I know that I may be slanted because of my sim setup (three computers running Project Magenta BOEING and Regional Jet modules) on a network, but when I tested my PSS buses with the Project Magenta Demos for the Airbus, they did not work, I believe that the basis for the PSS performance is that it is custom coded and does not use many of the FS2004 program interfaces. So, while I like all of them, I prefer the PMDG birds because they interface cleanly with my GOFLIGHT and PM setups. Thanks and happy sim flying,Ron Sagel

Actually I think that is possible to make a gauge or module that makes the GoFlight module working with PSS planes (or all planes actually). The idea is to read the FS variable and using Dx simulating mouse input or if the plane command as an associated key just send it.Jos

I own both aircraft, and unless you have a STRONG preference towards flying an Airbus, I would recommend the PMDG 737NG. Both aircraft have their strong points, however the 737NG is a more polished, newer package designed fully for FS2004. It has a very strong track record of stability and accuracy in it's systems and flight modelling, while the PSS A32x series has had a rather rocky conversion to FS2004. This seems to be the general consensus among sim-pilots, and I agree with it.Obviously if you have a strong attraction to a certain airplane manufacturer, you would be better suited to go with that one. But *in my opinion* the difference in quality between the two is great enough to require you to be a BIG Airbus fan to have to go to the A32x series.I have found both the PMDG (stock) and the PSS (after usability tweaks) to perform smoothly on my PC. Of the A320 and 737NG, I would recommend the PMDG 737NG. Good luck with your decisions!-Greg

I'll probably be considered biased hehe, but to me there's really no contest - the NG is the best airliner you can buy for FS2004 hands down. PSS makes a good product, but the NG is just a class above everything else in terms of the fludity of the LCD screens, the level of systems modelling, (overhead and FMC are nearly fully functional and it will be complete after the 800/900) and most importantly in the flight modeling. The NG conveys the *feeling* of flight better than any other airliner addon I've ever seen.

Due to PSS's reluctance to fully update the A320 to FS2k4 standards (interactive vc, REAL Effects, etc). I would have to recommend the 737NG. When one makes the comment that the PSS A320 is fully automated, that's more than just an understatement. If your flying with the PSS A320 with full autopilot and get cleared for a visual approach (non-ILS), it is virtually impossible to land the 320 manually. Only autolandings work and you can disconnect when over the runway right before the flare. The PMDG 737 is just as automated as the PSS Airbus, it's all in how you choose to use the autopilot and FMC. Since the PMDG 737 is a fully FS2k4 add-on that can be landed by hand as well as autopilot, my vote is for the PMDG model. If PSS would offer better support and not over moderate their forums, that would help even more. I guess when you have a great product out the gate, there's no need to hide behind a moderator to that extent in order to filter only the issues issues you feel like resolving (if an issue does get through the moderator, many times you don't here back from PSS about the problem)...

I also own both. If you want more hands-on flying, choose the 737 (although I am anticipating the DreamFleet 737 for FS2004, too). And, I think its systems operate a little more smoothly than the A3xx. Both have flight computers that are fun to work with. The A3xx series from PSS is still quite imperfect in my opinion in spite of months of re-engineering from FS2002 to FS2004. Each day seems to bring another tweak to the aircraft.cfg, .air, and panel.cfg files. The A320 always seems a little unrealistic to me in turns (a greater than 20-30 degree course change in autoflight seems to be flown in a least two distinct turns) and it has some pitch and descent problems. Both give good frame rates on my system. As an aside, my current favorite aircraft is neither of these -- it is the iFDG MD-11 with the Alain Capt panel. Available on AvSim library in many varieties.Hope this is of value to you.

And what about frame rates?. I think that PSS airbus has much better performance in FPS than PMDG's. Dont get me wrong, both are great packages, but I just think that PSS runs smoother than PMDG.
