March 4, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi guys,So first flight is current in the NGX I have to point out that the new flightdeck sounds are obvious. The engine on takeoff can no longer be heard really, so instead of the low rumble and engine sound you only get wind noise. Is that realistic or has it been done too harshly [too much wind noise imho].Also my EZDOK exterior views no longer work, the revert to spot? Any ideas?3) Unrelated questionAs a rule of thumb, [Topcat] do you select the lowest thrust setting possible, to still allow a safe takeoff? I found today on ESSA-EGLL that I used 60C which led to a 88 N1, so after 1500 the thrust increased. From flying in the real world, I am used to there being a little less thrust after accell height? March 4, 201214 yr As a rule of thumb, [Topcat] do you select the lowest thrust setting possible, to still allow a safe takeoff? That is the idea, with every percent of thrust, you save the engine wear a bit, and you reduce the probability of a failure a bit. --Peter Fabian

March 4, 201214 yr The engine on takeoff can no longer be heard really, so instead of the low rumble and engine sound you only get wind noise. Is that realistic or has it been done too harshly [too much wind noise imho].I havent ever been in the cockpit during flight, but on all the videos ive seen, once you get airborne you dont hear the engines anymore, just wind, i used to find the pre-SP1c engine sound too loud during flight, so i set master volume to 100 and it was then perfect. You can change all the sounds volume except the engine ones by changing the master volume from FMC.
March 4, 201214 yr Commercial Member Nothing at all was changed relating to actual sounds in this update. There was one fix for something with selecting sound devices on the FMC sound options page, but that did not change a thing with respect to the sound files or their mixing. Not sure what you're hearing Alex, but it was not caused by SP1c. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
March 5, 201214 yr Sounds like to me he's got either the wrong sound device selected in the FSX sound or the PMDG sound menu. Patrick Houghton
March 5, 201214 yr Or you switched windows and it got wonky, as is often the case. Mash 'q' twice and see if that fixes it.-stefan

March 5, 201214 yr Make sure that in windows you have properly configured your sound device.Make sure that it isn't setup for a 5 speaker surround when you might only have 2 speakers.

The gearup sounds are controlled by the custom panel programming and not by the entry you are modifying in the sound.cfg. If you cannot hear the gearup by default then most likely you have not setup the panel sounds to playback through the same soundcard device as the engines. Goto the FMC / Sound options and make sure you have selected the correct soundcard device to play all the panel sounds - then you will hear the gearup sound without modifying the sound.cfg. March 5, 201214 yr Commercial Member In addition to what Armen said, you may not hear the gear sounds if you're using cockpit hardware that use non-standard commands to raise/lower the gear. To test for this, use the G key on the keyboard - if you hear it that way but don't with your hardware, that's the reason.
