March 6, 201214 yr FSX, for most of us who still fly it, cost's a LARGE fortune. I know many FSX pilots that have spent more then $1000 on just software. Not to mention 3x that on hardware.Easy.... I looked at my budget since Dec 31 and I spent $300+ on FSX addons lol... Not including 200 rudder pedals for xmas.... | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 6, 201214 yr I'm hoping MS do like a big pack of DLC near the holidays, maybe Hawaii and Alsaska together? Maybe MS could do a complete pack of the DLC every year, including everything released from 1st Jan of that year onwards? Maybe MS could do some kind of subscription based service instead of DLC? Maybe cost $20-$50 a month but you get everything?I hope they won't do a DLC pre-pay option for 15% less and have it on sale 2 weeks later at a lot less....

March 6, 201214 yr Heck I just spend $150 on wine at the local store, but so what that doesn't mean I will dump money into flight just because I spend money on other things. Actually my month budget for liquor is $200/month (holly crap!), but I also spend $400 a month on golf in my budget.Flightsim sits at $50/month! I would rather that money go to new stuff in FSX than Flight until I see what is going to happen in the longer term. The secrecy about what area, what planes and such is turning me off of Flight. If you come to south Florida drop me a line, I live on a golf course, plenty of course to chose from down here, don't bring the wine, I got everything, you'r covered.
March 6, 201214 yr Europe? Too many people, too many towns, cities, roads, big airports....Think lots of empty space, lots of trees, lots of water a few bigger airports....Think Canada. Ya... good point. I was thinking more along the lines of "customer" base... lots more customers in Europe!!! Remember... "It's the dollar (quid/euro) that compels you!" That's a quote from the Exorsist... sort of... only the priest is taking to M$ this time... not the devil" LOL!Sorry!

March 6, 201214 yr I am new to AVSims; I have been into flight simulators for a long while. I have lots of money invested and do not look forward to re-buying much/most of the scenery.I do have to say, however that my first impressions of Flight are very good. I am, very surprised that it was released with so small amount of scenery and planes available. I am also surprised that the old stand by Cessna is not available, and no jets.I have already spent $35 in one day playing with this new "free" sim :).... I hope that they do not nickle and dime us to death because I think many people will not like that. They should make scenery available for reasonable prices, such as $10. I certain would spend $20 for a West Coast or East Coast scenery set, but I will not spend $40 on same. Maybe make planes available for $5. I believe at these types of pricing Microsoft will have a winner. If they over price themselves than it may not fly, so to speak.I could see getting up to $100-$150 quickly (which is quite a lot for a new flight simulator considering how much we all have probably spent on FSX). March 6, 201214 yr I added up my purchases for flightsim (software, hardware, add-ons, et alia) for the past decade: ~$18,400...Holy Cow! That is a lot of money Bill. You likely beat me in expenditures. I don't want to add it up though, as what I use currently, just in and for FSX alone, is somewhere between $8 - 10,000 software and hardware all in. I don't even want to think of what all the past computers, equipment and platforms cost, in both time, or money. Quite sobering isn't it? Kind regards,PS: If that doesn't make us "hardcore", I don't know what would.
March 6, 201214 yr If we had to pay $20 to buy the Hawaiian Islands (for argument's sake, let's call it half of a single state), then I hardly see how Microsoft would ever turn around and offer us something like the entire West Coast in a single DLC release for $40.Sorry guys, I think that's being overly optimistic....at best. Avid flightsimmer with a solo pilot endorsement, halfway toward my Private Pilot in the Diamond DA20 C-1 Eclipse.
March 6, 201214 yr Personally I feel that the "Hawaiian Adventure Pack" is worth $20, if you like Flight . . . and it does include the RV-6A, which is currently my favorite Flight aircraft.Alaska is a pretty BIG state, and the "Journey To Alaska Pack" is going to cover 1.2 million square miles, and include additional aircraft. No idea yet how much it will cost.Arwen,I realize the English language is not the easiest to state clearly but for I for one sure do not come to the same conclusion that you do reading the announcement. Additional aircraft may very possibly be included in the DLC but could just as well be at at additional cost as the Maule and P-51 in the Hawaii Adventure DLC. The word 'include' was not and is not included at the FB or MS websites. See below.Ray Edited March 6, 201214 yr by raymar When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
March 6, 201214 yr I assume at least one aircraft is included. If you read the sentence again, you will see that "with over 1.2 million sq mi of captivating scenery, new aircraft and additional missions!" So one aircraft is part of the package. But I think they would also release additional aircraft at the same time like when they did for Hawaii.
