March 16, 201214 yr so I'm having a lot of fun with the JF 737, i.e. I flew it from EGCC to LEAM with no bother at all and it behaved itself admirably.Al, I agree 100%. It's far from the perfect sim like the NGX, but it is realistic enough to be a lot of fun and that's what makes it worth it to me. Like you, I also hope that they keep improving it. Robert Yunque
March 16, 201214 yr Are you running Windows 7 out of curiosity? It may just be a coincidence in my case that it works on one OS and not the other, but at the same time it could be something about windows 7 that is crashing the plane.I also agree that the plane could use some extra love, but I am having fun with it. I would like a Sperry 177 and I think it was a bit overpriced. However, I figure if I get at least 20 flights out of it I have only paid a little over $2 per flight; doesn't sound so bad if put that way. You hear that MilViz? Please don't release your 737 before I get my 20 flights out of the JF bird, if it flies as good as it looks I may have a hard time going back to the JF plane to meet my quota. :( Todd Fleck

For future reference, a lot of us nerdy types keep our PC specs in our signatures. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 16, 201214 yr Todd,I also have Win7-64.Here is what I got from JF .. you could do it as a test and see.. it worked for me but, not having the file caused the elevator wheel in the cockpit to stop moving .. but the elevator worked .. and worked in exterior view. After renaming the file I did not have to load the cessna first and the JF737 tutor flight loaded ok also:I have not gotten any more feedback from JF on what should be done next .. maybe they are working on a permanent fix before contacting me again .. don't not know now."Hi Vaughan,Please open this folder: C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XSimObjectsAirplanesJustflight 737-200AdvpanelWithin that folder is a file called jf_sound.gau. Please rename that file to jf_sound_backup.gau:Now load FSX and check to see whether or not the problem still occurs.Martyn NorthallJust Flight & Just Trains" Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
March 16, 201214 yr Ok, it sounds like the way they coded the cockpit sounds not was done with the ideal methodology. I suppose it could just cause a minor annoyance on Vista, but is a show stopper on Windows 7. Todd Fleck

What else is lost with renaming this file? Surely something important? ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 16, 201214 yr Zach,I have no idea. I put the file back and load the Cessna first ... but I think they know "exactly" was is causing the several most complained about items so far previouslt mentioned.I do not like e-mail private (non-public) tech support (hidden topics/problems) on any flight sim product .. everyone should be in a forum to discuss problems and solutions in the works and later service pack feedback. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW

Transparency with the issues seems to be better practice for prospective customers. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 16, 201214 yr You will most likely lose all of the non-standard sounds. I.E. anything that is not in the sound.cfg, probably includes most of the cockpit sounds, engines and all should be fine. Todd Fleck

Perhaps that's why? The jf_sound.gauge. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 16, 201214 yr I think so, the way it was written is not completely compatible with FSX. Disabling it is probably the best workaround for now. You will lose some sound, but most of it is not working anyways. Todd Fleck
March 16, 201214 yr Off topic much? :PHopefully the CS reports will continue to come in and it continues to improve with future versions. Could really use a decent Classic 737 and Just Flight isn't it from what I've seen. - Aaron
March 16, 201214 yr Just for info purposes, I am running Win 7 64 Bit (which I don't like as much as XP) but it is worth noting that my FSX is a pretty clean install and Win 7 itself is also a clean install (i.e. less than a week, since a format and install), so I'm wondering whether another add-on which is not in my FSX or registry clashes with the JF and causes issues for some. I know some Wilco stuff can screw up PMDG birds, which is documented by PMDG. Long shot, but you never know. Incidentally, the CS 737 is installed as well, and A2A's Accu-Feel, but that's about it, certainly no Wilco stuff as yet.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
March 16, 201214 yr That blows my OS theory out of the water. It works on my computer that runs Win Vista and has every addon under the sun installed. But does not work on my computer that has Win7 and no addon at all other that a couple planes. I wonder if it is actually an addon that is allowing it to work on my Vista system. I noticed you have accu-feel installed, that program has to do with sounds. I wonder if it is overruling a problem sound. Todd Fleck
